In terms of the most powerful cordless stick vacuum cleaners, there is no way to ignore the Shark IZ320UKT vs Dyson V15. My experiences show that both of them have extremely good performance. However, for me, the Dyson V15 still has the upper hand.
Dyson V15 outperforms many other vacuum cleaners on the market by its powerful suction. It can work smoothly on all types of surfaces as well as handle large debris. It comes with a wide range of tools for you to choose from. In addition, the machine also provides users with many other utilities.
Shark IZ320UKT is an affordable choice but still fully meets the criteria you need in a cordless stick vacuum. This machine features a HEPA filter and an anti-tangle function, so it is very suitable for allergy sufferers and pet owners.

Shark IZ320UKT vs Dyson V15: Differences
After weighing the differences between these two machines, I found that Dyson V15 wins 2:0 and ties 3 against Shark IZ320UKT. To learn more details, please read the breakdown below.
Cleaning performance
The winner: Dyson V15
Compatible floor types
My tests show that both machines perform extremely well on a variety of surfaces, such as hardwood floors, tile floors, faux wood floors, low-pile carpets, area rugs, and even thick carpets. They can handle small to large debris well, including full-sized Froot Loops. I didn’t notice much difference in cleaning performance between the two, so let’s take a look at the differences in their design and technology.
Shark IZ320UKT features a DouClean cleaning head that is specifically designed for cleaning on both flooring and carpeting. This cleaning head includes two brush rolls working together to remove large debris, small particles, and stuck-on dust more effectively. The main brush roll on the DuoClean cleaning head is a soft brush roll, which is designed to vacuum hard floors without scratching or damaging the surface. This brush roll can pick up large debris with ease.
The second roller is at the back, which has flexible plastic fins to help the machine dig deeper down into the carpet and provide better agitation. Also, this brush roll is equipped with a quite dense, stiff brush to sweep the dirt into the middle of the air path where you’ve got the most suction power. In addition, the Shark IZ320UKT also has LED headlights on the cleaning head, which are designed to illuminate the cleaning path, making it easier to see and clean dirt and debris in dark or low-light areas such as under furniture, in corners, or in dimly lit rooms.
Meanwhile, the Dyson V15 comes with two cleaning heads. The first one is called Digital Motorbar, which is designed to pick up dust and debris from all floors. This cleaning head has a switch to adjust the gates at the front of the brush bar for different floor types. Additionally, the V15 Detect also features the Dynamic Load Sensor (DLS) technology that automatically adjusts the motor speed and brush bar height for optimal cleaning performance on different floor types. Therefore, you don’t need to charge the nozzle when moving from carpets to hard floors.
The second nozzle of the Dyson V15 is a laser slim fluffy cleaning head. This is purposefully designed for vacuuming hard surfaces. It employs a soft roller that is gentle on flooring, as well as a laser that illuminates dust and debris that might be hard to see. This roller works like the main brush roll of the Shark IZ320UKT.
Pet hair performance
Both machines are great choices for pet owners. As I have mentioned above, these machines all have an advanced suction head design so that they can handle objects of any size, including pet hair.
In addition to excellent cleaning performance, these machines also provide quite an effective anti-tangle function. The cleaning heads of Dyson V15 feature a series of de-tangling vanes that act as a comb to clean hair from the brush bar automatically.
With the Shark IZ320UKT, its DouClean PowerFin cleaning head is designed to capture more hair than other previous models. This one has a unique bristle guard and comb that actively separates and removes hair from the brush roll as you clean, helping to keep your brush roll tangle-free. However, sometimes there are still a few long hairs left on the soft brush roll. Understanding this, the manufacturer has designed this brush roll with the ability to disassemble easily for cleaning without any effort. Just tap the blue button on one side of the cleaning head, then the roller will pop out.
Aside from that, each machine comes with a motor-driven pet tool with a tangle-resistant feature.
Suction Power
When it comes to suction power, both Shark IZ320UKT and Dyson V15 Detect are high-performance cordless stick vacuum cleaners with powerful suction capabilities. However, according to the manufacturer’s specifications, the Dyson V15 Detect has a slightly higher suction power compared to the Shark IZ320UKT.
The Dyson V15 Detect has a maximum suction power of 230 AW (in boost mode), which is one of the highest in the market. On the other hand, the suction power of the Shark IZ320UKT is about 115 AW, which is not too impressive but powerful and effective enough for home cleaning.
For those who don’t know, air watts (AW) is a measure of the suction power of a vacuum cleaner, which takes into account both the airflow rate and the amount of power consumed by the motor. In general, a higher air watts rating indicates a more powerful vacuum cleaner with greater suction power.
My experiences also say that the Dyson V15 has stronger suction than the Shark IZ320UKT. This was most evident when I vacuumed the crevices with the Dyson V15. This machine can pull out all the dirt in those crevices with just a few passes.
Dirt bin and filtration
Tie
Filtration
Shark IZ320UKT features a filtration system with three filters, including a felt filter, a sponge filter, and a HEPA filter. All the filters are washable and reusable, while the HEPA filter is designed to capture 99.9% of dust and allergens down to 0.3 microns in size. The Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology of the Shark IZ320UKT also helps to prevent allergies and dust from escaping back into the air.
The Dyson V15 Detect, on the other hand, features a whole-machine filtration system that captures 99.99% of dust particles as small as 0.3 microns. Although capable of filtering air equivalent to HEPA standards, Dyson does not call this a HEPA filtration system. This filtration system consists of several layers of filters, which is highly effective at capturing dust, allergens, and other particles.
Dirt bin
These two machines are all bagless vacuums. They store all the dirt in a dustbin, which is made of plastic, so you can tell how full the bin is with a glance. These bins are easy to empty and clean. You can empty them with the click of a button. The advantage of bagless vacuums is that you don’t have to spend money to buy a new dirtbag. Instead, you just need to rinse the bin with water occasionally.
In terms of capacity, the dust container of the Dyson V15 is slightly larger than the Shark IZ320UKT’s. One is 0.76 liters, and the other is 0.7 liters. In general, the dust container capacity of these machines is not too large, but it is enough so that you do not need to empty the bins too often.
With the Dyson V15, this vacuum also features a point-and-shoot mechanism that allows you to empty the dustbin without touching the dirt. When you press the release button, the mechanism scrapes the dirt out of the bin and into the trash can, minimizing the amount of dirt and dust that comes into contact with your hands.
Design and convenience
Tie
Storage
Because they all have a compact design, they are easy to store. Each machine has another way of storing.
Dyson V15 comes with a wall-mounted charging dock that allows you to store and charge the vacuum cleaner at the same time. To store the machine, you need to attach the docking station to the wall first, then simply align it with the docking station and push it firmly into place. Remember that the vacuum cleaner will automatically start charging when it is attached to the docking station. In addition to storage for the main unit, on the docking station, there is also room to store some attachments.
If you prefer not to mount the docking station on the wall, the Dyson V15 Detect also comes with a handy clip that allows you to attach the vacuum cleaner to a surface such as a shelf or a table. The clip can be attached using screws or adhesive tape (included).
The Shark IZ320UKT is designed with a self-standing feature, allowing you to easily store the vacuum cleaner without the need for a wall mount or docking station. This feature is made possible by the design of the floor nozzle, which includes a low center of gravity and a balanced weight distribution. When storing the device, you can gently fold the wand in half to make the unit become more compact. This feature is especially useful for those who have limited storage space.
Maneuverability
These two machines all have great maneuverability. However, in my opinion, the Dyson V15 is somewhat better.
Both of them are cordless stick vacuums, so there is no limit on the cleaning range. You just need to charge the battery fully, and then you can take the device anywhere for cleaning.
Their cleaning heads are all rotatable with a large radius, so the units move fairly smoothly around furniture. Plus, they can all be switched to handheld mode, so you can use the machine to clean many other places in the house, like stairs, windows, closets, ceilings, and more.
From the comparison chart above, you can see that these two machines have similar dimensions. However, the Dyson V15 is rather lighter than the Shark IZ320UKT. As you know, the more compact the vacuum cleaner, the easier it is to navigate and transform from place to place.
The cleaning heads of the Dyson V15 have a lower profile than the main cleaning head of the Shark IZ320UKT. This allows the machine to access further between nooks and crannies and underneath furniture.
Meanwhile, the Shark IZ320UKT features an advanced wand that can flex in multiple directions, providing greater reach and maneuverability when cleaning. The Flexology wand can be bent to various angles to clean hard-to-reach areas such as under furniture, along baseboards, and in tight spaces. This feature is particularly useful for those who have limited mobility or find it difficult to move furniture when cleaning.
Noise level
My tests show that the two machines have similar noise levels, averaging around 70-71 decibels. However, the noise level can change depending on which surface you are cleaning and the suction mode you choose.
Their noise level is about average for a cordless stick vacuum. 70 decibels is equivalent to the noise level in an office environment or inside a car driving at 60 mph. This level is not considered harmful to human hearing.
Battery
Tie
Battery life
Both machines use lithium-ion batteries, which are a popular type of rechargeable battery used in many cordless devices because of their high energy density, long lifespan, and low self-discharge rate. They also have a relatively short charging time and can provide consistent power output, making them ideal for use in vacuum cleaners. Their batteries can be easily removed and replaced if needed.
Each of these machines requires one battery to operate. On the lowest power setting, the battery of the Dyson V15 is designed to deliver up to 60 minutes of run-time per charge, while the battery on the Shark IZ320UKT can provide up to 50 minutes of run-time per charge. However, the Shark model does provide users with two batteries, which means the machine can run for up to 100 minutes on the lowest power setting without charging.
Remember that the run time may vary depending on the power mode selected and the attachments being used. On the highest power setting, the run time may be shorter, but it will provide more suction power for tougher cleaning tasks. Like Dyson V15, when you use the machine with the multi-surface cleaning head, it only can run for up to 10 minutes on boost mode.
Charging
The Shark IZ320UKT charges faster than Dyson V15. It only takes about 3.5 hours to fully charge each battery, while the battery of V15 needs more than 4 hours.
With the Dyson V15, you have two options to charge the machine. The first way is to insert the machine into the charging port on the docking station. When the vacuum cleaner is connected to the dock, it will automatically begin charging. The second way is to plug in the charger directly. Also, If you have a spare battery, you can charge it separately using the same charger that comes with the vacuum cleaner.
The Shark IZ320UKT does not come with any charging dock, so you only charge it by connecting the charger to the vacuum.
Utilities
The winner: Dyson V15
Digital display
The Shark IZ320UKT and the Dyson V15 both have digital displays that provide information about the vacuum’s performance and battery life. However, there are some differences between the two displays.
The digital display on the Shark IZ320UKT is located on the top of the handle, just beside the power button. It shows information such as the battery life remaining, the current power mode, and the filter status. It also has an indicator that lets you know when the brush roll is jammed or when there is a blockage in the vacuum. The display on the Shark IZ320UKT is simple and easy to read, but it does not have as much detailed information as the display on the Dyson V15.
Meanwhile, the digital display on the Dyson V15 provides more detailed information, including real-time data on the vacuum’s suction power and the amount of time left before the battery runs out. This screen also has an alert system that lets you know when it’s time to clean or replace the filters, and it has an indicator that shows when there is a blockage in the vacuum. This LCD display is more advanced than the display on the Shark IZ320UKT, but it may be a bit more complicated to navigate.
Piezo sensor
The Dyson V15 features a piezo sensor that detects the amount and size of particles that are being picked up by the vacuum. This sensor is located inside the cleaning head of the vacuum, and it works by measuring vibrations caused by particles passing through the cleaning head.
When the vacuum cleans, the piezo sensor detects vibrations and sends this information to the vacuum’s processor. The processor then uses this data to adjust the suction power of the vacuum, ensuring that the appropriate amount of suction is applied to pick up particles of all sizes. This means that the Dyson V15 is able to automatically adjust its suction power for different types of surfaces and cleaning tasks, providing optimal performance and cleaning efficiency.
Great for value
Tie
In my opinion, these machines are worth the money we spend on them.
Shark IZ320UKT delivers all of the value you can find in a cordless stick vacuum at its price point. The machine possesses extremely good cleaning performance no matter what surface you vacuum. It works really well on both hard floors and carpets. Not only that, but it also has a large dust bin and HEPA filters. It features two lithium-ion batteries with up to 100 minutes of run-time. Also, it doesn’t make a lot of noise.
Dyson V15 is much more expensive than its opponents, but the extra money you have to spend will not be wasted. Dyson is a longstanding brand known for their unique technologies. From my personal experience, the suction power of this machine outperforms most other stick cordless vacuum models on the market. It also offers two cleaning heads and many other attachments for you to choose from. The battery life per charge is not too long, but the battery is replaceable. In addition, you get many other utilities, most notably the piezo sensor.
