If you are looking for a stick vacuum with a long battery life, try our duo today, Xiaomi G11 vs Dyson V15. Both are machines with large battery capacity and offer the ability to adjust the suction to save battery automatically. I have had the opportunity to experience both machines, and the article below is my personal review. To summarize, the winner is Dyson V15.
Dyson V15 is a great choice for those looking for a versatile stick vacuum with powerful suction. It performs excellently on all types of surfaces, such as hardwood floors, carpets, area rugs, stairs, etc. It also has a large dirt bin and doesn’t make much noise.
Xiaomi G11 is a really lightweight and compact vacuum at an affordable price. The maneuverability is such a great thing to say. It does a decent job on both hard floors and carpets. I recommend this machine for small apartments.

Xiaomi G11 vs Dyson V15: Differences
Cleaning performance
After weighing the differences between both vacuum cleaners, I found that Dyson V15 won 3:0 and tied 1 against Xiaomi G11. For more details, please reference the breakdown below.
The winner: Dyson V15
Performance on hard floors
Dyson V15 does a decent job on hard floors. This vacuum comes with two cleaner heads, a multi-surface cleaner head, and a slim fluffy cleaner head. Although the multi-surface cleaner head is made for deep cleaning carpets, you don’t need to change it when moving from carpets to hard floors. This nozzle still performs really well on hard surfaces. It can pick up all sizes of debris, even full-sized Froot Loops.
This cleaner head has gates at the front that can be adjusted manually so that the machine can handle larger debris compared to previous models.
Besides, the V15 offers another cleaner head, which is designed with soft nylon and anti-static carbon fiber to remove dust from hard floors and gaps better. The low profile design helps it reach far under furniture. Also, the soft brush roll allows users to clean their floors shiny without scratching the surface.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi G11 only employs a cleaner head. Its multi-surface cleaner head picks up dust and small debris on hard floors quite well. In my tests, I let the machine clean oats on tile floors, and it really did a good job with just one or two passes. However, when I used this cleaner head to vacuum cat litter, it took quite a while for the machine to pick up all the particles.
Performance on carpets
Since Dyson V15 has a surface-type adjustment feature on the multi-surface cleaner head, it works so well on carpets, even high-pile and shag carpets. This feature offers three settings to adjust the gates at the front of the nozzle, with the highest setting for thick carpets and the lowest setting for hard floors. You won’t have to sacrifice much suction power even if you fully open those gates.
The dense, stiff brush roll allows the machine to agitate the carpet deep down and pull out more dirt every pass. However, if you choose the lowest setting to clean thick carpets, it will be really hard to roll the machine on the carpet.
As for the Xiaomi G11, I found this machine cleans carpets better than hard floors. It is best at cleaning low-pile carpets and area rugs. When on a high-pile carpet, the vacuum cleaner tends to wrap itself in fibers, so it is quite difficult to navigate. Besides, in addition to dirt and fur, sometimes the stiff bristle brush also pulls out carpet fibers.
Pet hair performance
Both machines are great for picking up pet hair. They clean fur and hair on hard floors very well without effort. On carpets, their multi-surface cleaner heads all use stiff bristle brushes, so you can easily pull pet hair from deep down. Plus, each machine comes with its own unique anti-tangle design.
With the Dyson V15, its Digital Motorbar cleaner head employs an array of vanes that act as a comb, automatically cleaning tangled hair from the brush bar.
With Xiaomi G11, its brush roll is equipped with three-section blades, which automatically cut off any hair that wraps around the roller. These blades are recessed so that they won’t damage your floors or carpets. However, the blades are not designed to run the length of the roller, meaning the middle of the brush roll is not tangle resistant. Therefore, sometimes there is still long hair wrapped around the roller.
Besides, in the box, Dyson V15 also provides users with an anti-tangle conical brush bar. This tool has a compact design, so it is suitable for vacuuming smaller spaces where the main nozzle cannot reach. It’s still a motor-driven tool and tangle-free.
Suction power
In this aspect, Dyson V15 is the stronger one, with 230AW suction power in boost mode. Meanwhile, the maximum suction power of the Xiaomi G11 is up to 185AW. As you may likely know, air watt (AW) is a unit of measurement for vacuum cleaner efficiency that refers to airflow and the amount of power the vacuum cleaner generates and uses. The higher the air watts, the higher the suction power.
The boost mode on Dyson vacuum cleaners is a feature that provides extra suction to tackle particularly stubborn dirt and debris. When you activate this mode, the vacuum cleaner increases the power of the motor and suction, allowing more dirt, grime, and debris to be drawn from your floors and carpets. However, it should be noted that using boost mode can drain the vacuum’s battery faster, so it’s best to use it sparingly and only when you need more suction power.
Dirt bin and filtration
The winner: Dyson V15
Dirt bin
Both machines are bagless vacuum cleaners. All the dirt and debris vacuumed is kept inside a dirt bin. The bin is made of clear plastic, so you can see how full it is at a glance. It is also easy to empty and clean.
The dirt bin capacity of Dyson V15 is about 0.76 L, large enough that you don’t have to empty it too often. To empty the bin, you need to detach the wand first. Then, hold the bin over a trash can, and push the red release button to open the bin base. When you press the red bin release button, the bin will slide down and clear the shroud as it goes. Don’t overfill your dirt bin since the dirt may affect the performance and require cleaning the filter more frequently.
Compared to its opponent, Xiaomi G11 has a pretty small dust container, only about 0.3 L. Thus, I think it will be more suitable for apartments. The steps to empty this dirt bin are similar to those of the Dyson. However, when you press the release button, the bin will pop out instead of sliding down. The middle part of the handle is equipped with an electrostatic discharge device, which can neutralize any static electricity inside the vacuum cleaner and prevent dirt from sticking to the dust container.
Filtration
Dyson V15 uses a whole-machine filtration system, which can capture 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns and release cleaner air. Dyson does not call this a HEPA standard system because the American Society for Testing and Materials has introduced a new HEPA standard, which points out that every single filter and washer in a vacuum cleaner must be HEPA-grade.
Although this vacuum doesn’t come with a HEPA filtration system, it is still very effective at capturing allergens, dust, and other particles. Its system consists of several layers of filters, including a pre-motor filtration, a metal filter, and a five-layer filtration. The entire filtering system is located at the rear of the machine. To remove it, you just need to twist the filter anti-clockwise and pull the filter out. All filters are washable and reusable. Dyson recommends users clean the filter once a month to ensure the best performance.
As for Xiaomi G11, this machine also offers a great filtration system, which is equipped with multi-layer filtration and can effectively filter up to 99.5% of various allergens as small as 0.3 microns. The manufacturer also does not mention whether this system is HEPA standard or not. However, in my experience, this system really works, and you don’t have to inhale what you’re trying to vacuum in.
The system of Xiaomi G11 has three parts, including pre-filter, filter, and sponge filter. They all can be rinsed under running tap water, then set aside to dry for at least 24 hours.
Design and convenience
Tie
Maneuverability
According to my experience, both machines have good maneuverability.
First, these vacuums are all very lightweight. Dyson V15 weighs 6.8 pounds, while Xiaomi G11 even weighs only 3.5 pounds. Their weight and sturdy handle design make them pretty easy to carry and maneuver.
In the box, each machine comes with a range of nozzles and tools for many different cleaning purposes, such as vacuuming carpets, hard floors, sofas, stairs, ceilings, and more. Their multi-surface cleaner head has a fairly low profile design that allows it to reach further under furniture.
With the Dyson V15, you have more attachments to choose from. Besides some similar tools as those of the Xiaomi G11, Dyson also provides you with a laser slim fluffy cleaner head and a hair screw tool. The fluffy cleaner head has a more compact design than the standard one, so it moves more flexibly around furniture. Besides, this cleaner head also has a laser, which can reveal microscopic dust on hard floors for thorough cleaning.
In addition, both machines can be converted to handheld mode, which is very convenient for cleaning small stuff, windows, cabinets, etc. Since they are all cordless vacuums, you are not limited in the cleaning range. Just charge the devices fully, and you can take them with you anywhere. This is the typical convenience of stick vacuum machines like these.
Storage
These machines all have a very compact design, especially the Xiaomi G11, so it does not require much space for storage. Each vacuum cleaner comes with a wall mount, which can be used to charge and store the unit at the same time. You can use the wall mount or not. If you want to, you need a little bit of effort to set up the docking station before using it. Rest assured, there is nothing complicated, and all the operations are in the manual. With Dyson V15, you can also refer to video tutorials on its official Youtube channel.
Battery
Both Vacuums Use Lithium-ion batteries with up to 60-minute battery life. Lithium-ion is one of the most popular batteries for stick vacuums because it is durable, safe, and fast charging. In fact, depending on the cleaning mode, the runtime of each machine is different.
Dyson V15 has three cleaning modes: Eco, Boost, and Auto. With no attachments, this machine can run for up to 70 minutes in Eco mode. When it is in Boost mode, the suction power is extremely strong, but the machine can just run for under 10 minutes. I personally like the Auto mode most since the machine will automatically adjust the suction depending on the surface you are cleaning. Therefore, this feature also helps the machine optimize its battery life. When using the multi-surface cleaner head in Auto mode, the vacuum can run for about 45 Minutes.
Xiaomi G11 also comes with three cleaning settings: Eco, Auto, and Turbo. The Eco mode is quite similar to the Dyson V15’s mode and is suitable for light cleaning. In Auto mode, the vacuum can adjust the suction power through the infrared particle sensor. That means the more dust is detected, the more suction power is applied, and vice versa. This mode also extends the battery life like Dyson’s. Turbo mode is the most powerful setting and provides up to 8 minutes of run time.
Noise level
From what I measured, Dyson V15 is much quieter than Xiaomi G11. My experience indicates that a good stick vacuum cleaner supposes to have a noise level between 65-70 dB, and the V15 meets this criterion.
The noise level of the Dyson V15 is about 70 dB on bare floors and 71.5 dB on low-pile carpets. 70 decibels is equivalent to the sound of a normal conversation. Therefore, you can still talk on the phone while vacuuming without speaking louder.
As for Xiaomi G11, its average noise level is about 79 dB, quite high compared to other stick vacuums that I have reviewed. This is the sound of a busy downtown. It can also damage your hearing if you come into such sound levels more than 8-10 hours a day.
Utilities
The winner: Dyson V15
LCD display
Both machines have an LCD display. This helps users keep track of their vacuum’s status at all times and makes the machine easier to use. However, their LCD screen shows different information. With Xiaomi G11, the screen provides information such as three cleaning modes, battery level, and error alerts. As for Dyson V15, besides that information, its screen also shows users the amount and size of the particles picked up during a clean.
The piezo sensor of the V15 is not only used to detect concentrations of dust to adjust the suction power (in Auto mode) but also used to count the amount and size of the debris. After that, the information that this sensor collected will be displayed on the LCD screen. Below is the meaning of the sizes of the particles displayed on the screen (According to Dyson).
- Greater than 10 microns – allergens and pollen
- Greater than 60 microns – microscopic dust and skin flakes
- Greater than 180 microns – dust mites and fine sand
- Greater than 500 microns – fleas and sugar
Charger
Each machine offers users two ways to charge the battery. As I have mentioned above, the first way is to use the wall mount. I prefer this way since you can store and charge the machine at the same time. With the second way, you can just plug the charger into an outlet and into the vacuum head. Before plugging in the charger, I recommend you remove the wand first, then place the vacuum head on the table and charge it.
In addition to a large battery capacity, these vacuum cleaners also support quick battery replacement. Their batteries can be easily removed with the push of a button. These click-in batteries can be charged on or off the machine. I recommend you buy one more battery so that when you are vacuuming, and the battery runs out, you can immediately replace the battery with another and bring the dead battery to charge. This way, the vacuuming process will not be interrupted.
