Xiaomi G11 vs Dyson V12: Upon conducting tests, it became evident that the Xiaomi G11 falls significantly short compared to the Dyson V12.
The Dyson V12 is the latest model of the Dyson cord-free vacuum line. It’s essentially the same as the Dyson V15, except it’s more compact and lighter. That said, the V12 encompasses all the latest advanced features in a more compact body, such as the piezo sensor to adapt suction power on the fly or the Detect Laser technology makes it easier to vacuum in dimly lit areas. These days, it can be said that this one is very difficult to beat.
If you are looking for a stick vacuum that can maintain a clean and healthy living environment without spending an arm and a leg, the Xiaomi G11 is the one to get. While it doesn’t deliver exceptional performance, considering its price point, it offers acceptable performance. I particularly appreciate its Auto mode, a feature typically exclusive to high-end models.

Xiaomi G11 Vs Dyson V12: Differences
The Dyson V12 totally outperformed the Xiaomi G11, shutting it out with a 4-0 victory. The winner boasts stellar cleaning prowess, comes with a handy array of tools, and takes the lead with the capacity for automatic suction adjustment.
Cleaning Performance
Winner: Dyson V12
Suction Power & Floorhead
The Xiaomi G11 can deliver up to 185 AW of maximum suction, which is on par with the Dyson V11, which is also another flagship from Dyson. As for the Dyson V12, it maxes out at 150 AW, making it the “weakest” mode of the trio most recent Dyson cordless vacuum.
The Xiaomi G11 includes a multi-surface floorhead with tangle-free technology, while the Dyson V12 comes with two: Laser Slim Fluffy cleaner head and Motorbar cleaner head – both have upgrades over the earlier Dyson models.
Hard Floor
My examinations showed that the Xiaomi G11 was only effective for picking up fine and small debris, and it just pushed a large amount of larger debris to the sides and forward. The reason is that its cleaning head has low clearance (the gap between the floorhead’s front lip and the floor is quite narrow), so it can’t sweep over large debris.
With the new-generation Fluffy head, the Dyson V12 worked like a boss on my hard floor. It easily picked up all debris, including the large one that the Xiaomi G11 and many other models without soft rollers struggled with. So the soft roller is undoubtedly a welcomed addition, particularly for cleaning this type of surface.
Carpet
At the highest setting, the Xiaomi G11 sucked down my carpets, causing the roller to jam and stop spinning. Then I used auto mode, where the vacuum could not pick up more than 80% of the total debris in a single pass, resulting in extra passes.
The Dyson V12 exhibited exceptional performance on all types of carpets with the Motorbar cleaner head. It picked up almost all the debris and left behind only a small amount of small one that was difficult to detect with my naked eye. This is the result that only Dyson’s formidable vacuum cleaners can deliver.
Hair Test
Both the Xiaomi G11 vs Dyson V12 easily collected all the hair and pet hair on the floor and carpet in just one forward-and-backward pass. Even better, each of them comes equipped with de-tangling technology to minimize the problem of hair wrap.
The Xiaomi G11’s multi-surface roller is equipped with three section blades which will automatically cut off any hair that wraps around the roller as it spins. I was initially afraid that it would scratch and mar my fragile hard floor. But in hindsight, I found it was harmless to my hard floors and carpets. Likewise, the Dyson V12’s anti-tangle technology is the polycarbonate teeth (behind the roller) which are also engineered to tackle tangles. They worked, but I still had to manually remove a small amount of long hair from their rollers by the end of the test session.
Design & Usability

Attachments & Storage
Xiaomi G11 | Dyson V12 |
---|---|
Electric tangle-free brush head Electric mite brush Brush nozzle Crevice nozzle 2-In-1 charging & Storage mount Charger Removable battery (X1) | Laser Slim Fluffy cleaner head Motorbar cleaner head Hair screw tool Crevice tool Combination tool Wand clip Docking station & Charger Removable battery (X1) |
Both the Xiaomi G11 vs Dyson V12 come out of the box with wall-mounted stations for charging and storage. Once the charging mount is securely attached to a wall near an outlet, the vacuum automatically gets charged whenever it is docked there. The difference here is that Dyson V12’s wall mount only has room for two attachments, while Xiaomi G11’s can house three and has a charging slot for the spare battery.
But that isn’t the sole method available for storing and charging the vacuum. If drilling and chiseling into the wall is either unfeasible or not desired, an alternative option is to connect the charger directly to the battery and put the vacuum and all its attachments in a cabinet or similar space that is out of reach for your pets or little ones.
Weight & Maneuverability
Weighing in at 5 and 5.3 pounds, respectively, both the Xiaomi G11 and Dyson V12 are among the lightest models I have ever come across. They feel remarkably lightweight and ergonomically pleasing when held in my hand. Along with the flexible swivel head, maneuvering them is child’s play. When in the handheld configuration, they are light as a feather, allowing me to clean high areas for extended periods without experiencing any fatigue in my hand/wrist.
Battery Life
Both the Xiaomi G11 vs Dyson V12 are announced to have up to 60 minutes of battery life! It sounds enticing, but don’t let this gimmick mislead you. The necessary and sufficient condition for them to achieve this dream battery life is that they are used with a non-motorized tool and are in the lowest power mode. I tested each with the main nozzle, and here are the results:
Xiaomi G11 | Dyson V12 | |
---|---|---|
Maximum Battery Life | ≈ 48 mins | ≈ 41 mins |
Minimum Battery Life | ≈ 9 mins | ≈ 12 mins |
Charging Time | ≈ 3 hours | ≈ 4 hours |
The Xiaomi G11 employs a removable battery instead of a built-in one. That said, you can easily swap the batteries to double the cleaning time instantly. The purchase includes one battery, so acquiring an additional spare battery will incur an additional cost. As mentioned above, its 2-in-1 charging mount has a slot to charge the second battery separately, so with two batteries on hand, you can have them charged simultaneously.
Similarly, the Dyson V12 uses has a convenient removable battery design (Dyson calls it “Click-In”). So if you want a longer run time to get the job done, just purchase an extra battery (on Dyson’s web).
Dustbin & Filtration System
Winner: Dyson V12
As a trade-off for the compact and lightweight design, the Dyson V12 compromises the capacity of its dustbin. It can only hold up to about 0.35 liters of dust and dirt, making it the Dyson stick vacuum with the smallest canister. Emptying it still relies on the “point and shoot” mechanism – push a lever down to eject all the contents. I found myself sliding backward and forwards a few to get everything out.
The Xiaomi G11 has a 0.3-liter dustbin, and emptying it is superbly easy. I didn’t even need to use my other hand: just press a button within reach of the thumb (you’ll easily recognize it since it’s labeled a trash can icon), keeping my hands spotless. This will activate a lever mechanism that causes the dustbin to separate from the handheld part partially, and all the dust and dirt will find their way to the trash can below.
The Dyson V12’s filtration system could score some brownie points with people with allergies or asthma since it combines a sealed system and a HEPA filter. The HEPA filter should be washed under the tap at least monthly or whenever the LCD tells you.
With a multi-layer filtration system, including a washable HEPA filter, the Xiaomi G11 is claimed to be able to capture up to 99.97% of particles and allergens as small as 0.3 µm.
Utilities
Winner: Dyson V12
Headlights
There is a small green laser light on the Dyson V12’s Laser Slim Fluffy head which is called “Laser Detect” technology. This new technology is currently only available on the two latest models, V15 and V12, and I found it did a better job of keeping things illuminated compared to LED headlights. It would be better if its Motorbar cleaner head were also equipped with this nifty technology.
Power Modes
The Dyson V12 offers three power modes: Eco, Auto, and Boost. The Med option will change to “Auto” when either of the cleaning heads is attached. In auto mode, it can adjust its suction on the fly according to dust density detected by the piezo sensor.
Likewise, the Xiaomi G11 has three cleaning settings: eco, auto, and turbo. Auto mode also allows the vacuum to increase or decrease its suction power via an infrared particle sensor. The more dust the sensor detects, the more suction power the vacuum generates, and vice versa.
User Interface
The Dyson V12 has a larger circle LCD screen that shows the battery level, the power setting used, some maintenance alerts, and a bar graph showing how many and what size dust particles have been vacuumed. The piezo sensor, as mentioned earlier, automatically adjusts the vacuum’s suction based on dust density and sends particle data to the LCD screen. This cool feature is also exclusive to the two latest Dyson sticks. There is a small button on the screen used to switch between power modes.
Now, it is time to discuss the most significant distinction between the Dyson V12 and the rest of the Dyson stick series. Instead of coming with a trigger, the Dyson V12 has a big red button that serves the same purpose: turn the vacuum on/off – just press this button to enable the machine, then the vacuum will run continuously until it runs out of juice or you do another press. No more keeping the trigger pressed – no more hand fatigue! But I wish this button was positioned within the thumb’s reach for added convenience.
The Xiaomi G11’s LCD screen also shows the current battery level, the suction mode used, and error alerts (regarding the filter and blockage in the floorhead). There are two buttons there: one to switch between modes and the other to “lock” the trigger. This lock trigger feature is also designed to cut down on hand fatigue.
