Cleaning Performance
Winner: Dyson V12
Suction Power & Cleaning head
The Dreame V12’s maximum suction is 180 air watts (AW), which is on par with the Dyson V11 (185 AW). Meanwhile, the Dyson V12 maxes out at 150 (AW). You’ll see, just because the second one’s peak suction is lower doesn’t mean it performs worse.
Regarding included cleaning head, the Dreame V12 comes with just one multi-surface floorhead with short, stiff bristles, which works well for cleaning carpets. The Dyson V12, on the other hand, comes with two main nozzles: Laser Slim Fluffy cleaner head and Motorbar cleaner head – both of these cleaning heads feature improvements over earlier Dyson sticks (more on that later).
Hard Floor
The Dreame V12 had no problems removing small and medium debris, with a score of approximately 98% – a small amount of debris was thrown out the back. Meanwhile, it clearly showed awkwardness for larger debris – it pushed large amounts of it around because it didn’t have enough clearance to sweep them.
The Dyson V12 really passed this test with flying colors. Its well-built soft roller floorhead did a good job of picking up all the debris and leaving just a spotless path behind. The green laser was really useful in dimly lit areas, not just a gimmick.

The Dreame V12 also performed impressively on my carpets. It couldn’t remove everything, but the amount of debris left behind after the first pass was very small. And I just made an extra pass to make these remnants disappear.

I just needed to fully open two gates on the nozzle to deal with larger debris. Some people have reported that it is a bit difficult to push the vacuum on the carpet, but that was not the case with me.

Hence, maneuvering these machines was easy for me, and I had no problems carrying them up and down the stairs, even if they were fully assembled. Also, they include a swivel head that makes it simple to get in and out of tight areas.
The Dreame V12 comes with a flexible adapter designed to allow cleaning under the sofa and table without bending over, but if only it were equipped with headlights to make dust and dirt more visible. These models are claimed to run for up to 60 minutes when used with non-motorized attachments. And my tests showed that they ran out of battery faster with the main nozzles attached.
The Xiaomi Dreame V12 uses a built-in battery that can’t be removed or replaced because it is non-removable. So once the vacuum runs out of juice while you are in the middle of your vacuuming schedule, you will have to wait about 4 hours to pick up where you left off, which can be annoying for people who live in giant houses.
On the flip side, the Dyson V12 uses a click-in battery that’s easy to disassemble and replace. So it is wise to buy an additional battery to double the vacuum’s running time (buy on Dyson’s website). So you can vacuum with a battery and give the spare a charge by parking it at the charging station, then swap them out if the installed one dies.

The Dreame V12 features a 0.5-liter dust cup. I was a bit surprised to learn that it is smaller than the Dreame V11’s 0.6-liter dustbin. What we typically want to see in the newer model is an improvement, not a retrograde, right? Thankfully, it still maintains a simple emptying mechanism: just hold the dustbin above a trash can and press the release button to eject all the contents. I almost didn’t have to come in contact with them and didn’t get my hands dirty in any way.
The Dyson V12 has a 0.38-liter dust canister, which is significantly smaller than older models. This model seems to be designed with compactness and lightweightness in mind, so sacrificing the dust cup’s capacity is essential. Emptying it is a breeze: push a lever on the side down to let go of all the dust and dirt.
The Dreame V12 features a 5-layer HEPA filtration system that can trap up to 99% of allergens and microscopic dust, which offers so much peace of mind for folks with severe allergies. All filters are washable and can be reused many times.

The Dreame V12 has an OLED display like other of Dreame’s cordless vacuums but has a few upgrades. It shows the main information relating to battery, recharge, and suction.
Cleaning Mode
The Dyson V12 has three cleaning modes: eco, auto, and boost. With auto mode enabled, the vacuum can automatically adjust its suction based on the density of dirt detected by the piezo sensor installed in the unit.
