The Dyson V11, the overall winner, is exorbitantly expensive, but it is well worth the money. I love that this one can automatically adjust its suction based on the surface type, and it comes with a great set of attachments. Also, it has a sealed system and a HEPA filter, which is allergy-friendly.
The Xiaomi Dreame V12, on the other hand, did an excellent job of picking up debris on the carpet, but it could perform better on a hard floor. It has a light, ergonomic design and is a great investment that will last a long time.

The Dyson V11 wins 2-1 and ties once against the Dreame V12. The winner has better battery life, and it uses a removable battery, so it is possible to extend its operating time.
Cleaning Performance
Winner: Tie
Suction Power & Floorhead
The Xiaomi Dreame V12 vs Dyson V11 both have a maximum suction of 185 AW. They’re more powerful than many models I’ve tested, but not the most powerful ones. In fact, I have laid my hands on some stick vacuums with a maximum suction power greater than 200 AW, such as the Dyson V15 (230 AW) and Samsung Bespoke Jet (200 AW).
The Dyson V11 only comes with a single floorhead, and so does the Dreame V12. The V11’s High Torque head, different from that of earlier versions, is equipped with anti-tangle technology and dynamic load sensor technology, which can change suction power depending on the type of floor surface detected.
Likewise, the Dreame V12 features a smart multi-brush bar. It features a sensor that can automatically recognize the surface type and send a signal to the main unit to adjust suction power. The roller has a V-shaped design that minimizes hair wrap problems.
Hard Floor
The Dreame V12 didn’t perform very well on my hard floor. It pushed a decent amount of large debris forward instead of picking it up. Meanwhile, it easily picked up almost 100% of the fine and small debris, and only a small bit was splashed to the rear.
The Dyson V11, on the other hand, achieved an almost flawless score on this type of surface – 99%+ debris was picked up in the first pass. To pick up all the larger debris, I had to fully open two gates on the main nozzle and waggle the vacuum a bit. With a soft roller (I had to purchase it separately) attached, it could easily remove everything with minimal effort.
Carpet
The Dreame V12 did a really great job on all my carpets. On both Turbo and Auto mode settings, it easily gathered everything in the forward path and didn’t leave anything behind, and that is also the score that the Dyson V11 attained. But with the highest power mode (boost) enabled, I found it very difficult to push the V11, and I had to switch to auto mode.
Hair Test
Both the Xiaomi Dreame V12 vs Dyson V11 picked up all hair on all types of surfaces. The Dyson V11’s High Torque cleaner head features a row of polycarbonate teeth designed to prevent hair from getting wrapped around the roller. Similarly, the Dreame V12’s roller has a V-shaped design, and there is a comb behind it. Together, they could prevent a moderate amount of hair from wrapping around the roller.

The Xiaomi Dreame V12 vs Dyson V11 come with one of the richest attachment sets in circulation. When unboxing them, I found many accessories, and I asked myself how the manufacturers managed to fit all of them into such a small box.
The Dreame V12 cannot stand on its own like the Shark IZ462H, so it needs to be mounted on the wall for storage and charging, and Dreame includes a low-profile wall-mounted station for this purpose. Three attachments can be neatly stored here.
Likewise, storing and charging the Dyson V11 also relies on a wall mount. It can house two attachments, and another two can be stored on the vacuum’s body via the wand storage clip. And if drilling into your walls makes you uneasy, just get a self-standing station.
Weight & Maneuverability
The Xiaomi Dreame V12 vs Dyson V11 weigh 5.8 and 6.7 pounds, respectively. They’re not the lightest models I’ve tested, but they’re light enough for me to use for long periods of time without fatigue. And by removing the wand from the handheld unit, they can be used as portable vacuums, which are ideal for cleaning high areas.
Both can lie completely flat on the ground, so cleaning under furniture is easy. But the Dreame V12 takes the lead with the flexible adapter, which allows vacuuming under stuff without getting lumbago. The Dyson also sells a similar thing called the low-reach adapter.

I tested these machines with the main nozzle attached. If used with non-motorized tools, I believe they can run significantly longer than the above results.
The Dyson V11 uses a removable click-in battery that can be charged in two ways: plug the charger directly into the battery or have it installed in the handheld unit and park it in the docking station. If you live in a mammoth-sized house, I highly recommend buying an extra battery so you can swap the battery out when the vacuum runs out of juice in the middle of a cleaning cycle.
The Xiaomi Dreame V12, on the other hand, uses a built-in battery that can’t be removed or replaced. So once the battery dies, you will have no choice but to pause the cleaning job and wait until the battery is fully charged. So if you opt for this model, you may have to break down a vacuuming cycle into several sessions. The Dyson also sells a similar thing called the low-reach adapter.
Dust Cup & Filtration System
Winner: Dyson V11
As for the Dreame V12, there was a step backward in dust cup capacity compared to its predecessor model. While the Dreame V11 features a 0.6-liter dirt container, the Dreame V12’s dust cup drops to 0.5 liter. The difference of 0.1 liters certainly doesn’t make the vacuuming experience worse, but the manufacturer should increase the capacity of the dustbin instead of decreasing it on the newer model.
Emptying the Dreame V12’s dustbin was a breeze for me without getting my hands dirty: Just hold the handheld unit over a trash can, press the release button to open the flap, and all the collected dust and dirt will find their way into your trash can underneath.
The Dyson V11’s dust canister is larger at 0.75 liters, meaning it needs to be emptied less frequently. Emptying it is also child’s play: just grab the red lever and push it down to eject all the contents.
The Dreame V12 features a 5-layer HEPA filter with 99% filtering capacity, giving so much peace of mind to folks with severe allergies. Meanwhile, the Dyson V11 boasts a sealed system and a washable HEPA filter.

Digital Screen
The circular LCD digital screen has become standard on cordless vacuums from Dreame’s, but Chinese engineers have taken it to the next level on the V12. Apart from the battery charge level, it shows information relating to suction and charge.
The Dyson V11, on the other hand, features an LCD screen that shows the current power mode and remaining battery life in minutes and seconds. In addition, it provides alerts related to the filter and floorhead.
Control Method
The Dyson V11 shares a trigger with most Dyson stick vacuums (except the Dyson V12), and it only runs when this trigger is held down. This system can help optimize battery life, but keeping a trigger pressed down continuously can cause hand fatigue, especially for those with weak hands or wearing jewelry. To select the desired cleaning mode, just press a button on the screen.
Turning the Dreame V12 on and off also relies on pressing the trigger, but it features a trigger-lock button on the digital screen, allowing me to clean comfortably over long periods of time. Also, another button on the screen is used to toggle between the three cleaning modes.
Power Mode
The Dreame V12 features three different power levels. With the intelligent multifunctional brush attached, the auto mode is available, which can increase or decrease the suction power depending on the surface type. Likewise, the Dyson V11 also has three cleaning modes. The V11’s High Torque head, as mentioned above, is equipped with a dynamic load sensor that can detect the type of surface and automatically adjust the suction.
