In the comparison between Tineco S12 vs Dyson V12, my tests showed that the first one won overwhelmingly.

If you are after a top-performing cordless stick vacuum that is versatile enough to be utilized all around your home, the Tineco Pure One S12 is a great investment. Its motorized brush head is compatible with both hardwood floors, but that is not the only great feature. It features a sleek design, a lightweight body, and various sports accessories that are easy to swap between, thanks to an easy press-and-click mechanism.

The Dyson V12 is a cordless vacuum built to be more compact but smaller. This means this model has slightly less suction and a smaller dustbin than many models, but it has many things that make up for it. It has two cleaning heads for excellent all-terrain performance and a great set of attachments to adapt to any vacuuming need.

Tineco S12 Vs Dyson V12: Differences

The Tineco Pure One S12 wins 3-1 against the Dyson V12. The first one is an amazing cordless that I recommend to those who are on the hunt for a high-end smart vacuum cleaner. With two batteries offering nearly 100 minutes of runtime, it should be more than enough to vacuum most homes. Better yet, its great accessories allow you to tackle any cleaning task.

Cleaning Performance

Winner: Dyson V12

Suction Power And Cleaning Mode

The Tineco S12 vs Dyson V12 share a maximum suction power of 150 AW (air watts). So are they neck-and-neck in terms of cleaning performance? I tested these machines on both hard floors and carpets to answer that question. But first, let’s look at the vacuuming modes that are offered for each model.

The Dyson V12 has three cleaning modes, including Eco (which produces the weakest suction), Auto (which automatically adjusts suction power), and Boost (which produces maximum suction). There is a button on the LCD screen that is used to switch between these modes. Dyson equipped the piezo sensor on versions of the Dyson V12 and V15 lines to count sucked dust particles and automatically adjust the suction power.

On the other hand, there is a discrete touch-sensitive slider above the Tineco S12’s handle that is used to control the suction power, and next to this is a button that engages the auto mode. Once this mode is enabled, the vacuum will increase or reduce the suction level according to the amount of dirt.

Hard Floor

One of the two cleaning heads that come with the Dyson V12 is the Laser Slim Fluffy, which is specially designed for cleaning hard floors. It includes a removable and washable soft roller and a useful green laser. As expected, this soft roller was perfect on my hard floor, capturing all types of debris as easily as duck soup.

Dyson V12’s Laser Slim Fluffy head

The Tineco Pure One S12, with its direct-drive cleaning head, easily picked up all the small-to-medium debris, like rice and sugar. However, it has struggled with larger ones like cereal since they couldn’t be swept under the floorhead. Instead, this type of debris was pushed forward. So I had to reconfigure it into a portable vacuum and use a soft dusting brush or crevice tool to deal with this.

The Tineco Pure One S12 mentioned here is the standard version. The Plus version comes with a soft roller head, similar to the Dyson V12’s Laser Slim Fluffy cleaner head, which is expected to remove all the large debris from the floor. So if you prioritize cleaning hard floors but still want to stick with the Tineco S12, spend extra bucks to get the Tineco Pure One S12 Plus.

Carpet

With maximum power, the Tineco S12 can remove almost all debris from the low-pile carpet, except for the larger ones, in just one pass. Then I made an extra pass, and everything was collected. This model performed slightly worse when the auto setting was turned on. On my high-pile carpet, it worked better than ever. With the auto setting enabled, it could capture 100% of the debris.

As for the Dyson V12, I switched to the multi-surface Motorbar floorhead and turned on the auto mode, and I was glad that it had a super excellent performance on all types of carpets.

Hair Wrap Issue

I noticed a small amount of long hair got tangled around the Tineco S12’s roller, and that’s normal since it doesn’t have any anti-twist technology. Fortunately, the brush roll was easily removed from the floor head for cleaning.

On the other hand, the Dyson V12’s motorbar floorhead handles long hair with ease. With the anti-hair-wrap technology, it could send almost 100% of the vacuumed hair to the dust canister.

Design And Usability

Winner: Tineco Pure One S12

Weight And Maneuverability

The Dyson V12 weighs about 5.3 pounds, which is approximately 20% lighter than the Tineco S12 at 6.35 pounds, mainly due to a smaller dust bin. I generally found both extremely easy to pick up and lug around. They are comfortable to hold when vacuuming the floor or even reaching up high to clean the ceiling.

Maneuvering them is a breeze, thanks to the rotating head. They can even lay flat to go further under furniture, and I can turn a dime easily by twisting the wrist.

Attachments And Storage

The Tineco S12 vs Dyson V12 comes with many attachments and add-on tools that help you complete any cleaning task easily and efficiently. Here are all the attachments in the box:

Extension wand.
Direct-drive cleaning head.
Mini power brush.
Flexible crevice tool.
Pre-filter cleaning tool (powered).
Small cleaning tool (manual).
Crevice tool.
Combination tool (crevice tool and dusting brush).
Soft dusting brush.
Battery (x2).
Wall mount.
Anti-tangle hair screw tool.
Combination tool.
Docking station.
Wand clip.
Wand.
Laser Slim Fluffy cleaner head.
Charger.
Crevice tool.
Motorbar cleaner head.

Note that this is the Dyson V12 standard version, which comes with the fewest attachments. Its wall mount is a neater solution for storage and charging. The mount also provides storage slots for two accessories, while the wand clip can house two additional tools. If you want to store the vacuum and all the accessories together in one place, Dyson’s floor stand is the one to get.

As for the Tineco S12, it can be neatly stored when not in use or charging on the wall-mounted dock. I was also somewhat disappointed that this dock could only hold three of the attachments, and I had to put the rest in my cupboard.

Battery Life

Tineco Pure One S12Dyson V12
Maximum battery life≈ 48 mins≈ 41 mins
Minimum battery life≈ 9 mins≈ 9 mins
Charging time≈ 3.25 hours≈ 4 hours

The remaining battery life is displayed on the LED display on both. If you buy the Tineco S12, you’ll get two batteries, and the charging dock has a separate slot to charge or store the second battery. So you can basically double the running time of the machine.

The Dyson V12 only comes with a single battery. However, because it uses a click-in battery, which is detachable and replaceable, most users spend a little more to purchase an extra battery.

Dust Cup Capacity And Filters

Winner: Tineco Pure One S12

The Dyson V12 sports a 0.38-liter dust cup. So no matter how big or small your home is, you must visit the trash can a few times during the cleaning process to empty it. For those who put the trash can outside, this is quite annoying and time-consuming. Also, I had to use my hand several times to remove large debris and hair stuck inside the cup because of its small size.

The capacity of the Tineco S12 dust cup is 0.6 liters (0.13 gallons). It is still a bit small for a big cleaning task, but still bigger than average. To empty this dustbin, all I had to do was press a button, and most of the debris would fall out.

The Dyson V12 has a washable HEPA filter, which won’t need to be replaced as long as it is washed monthly or whenever the LCD screen sends you an alert. So this model incurs almost no recurring costs. The filter usually needs 24 hours to dry completely, so buying an extra HEPA filter can make a lot of sense.

The Tineco S12 has some filters, including a HEPA filter, and all of them are removable and washable. Rinsing these filters is extremely simple with a self-cleaning filter tool. Just put the filter inside this tool, mount it to the handheld unit, and turn it on for several seconds.

Utilities

Winner: Tineco Pure One S12

Display Screen

As with the Dyson V15, the Dyson V12’s LCD screen shows vacuumed particles in four sizes. So far, I have not seen any brand other than Dyson provide this information. Underneath the particle data, the LCD screen shows the estimated remaining battery life in minutes, which is better than a percentage. Better yet, the screen also shows you what to do if the machine gets blocked.

There is also a large round LED screen on top of the Tineco S12 that shows the battery level and the current vacuuming level. It also displays any faults via symbols. And as the unit detects more dirt, a loop around the display’s edge will change from blue to red.

On/Off Trigger

Like the Dyson V15, the Tineco S12 may be started by depressing a trigger, but it features a lock function. So it makes vacuuming for a long period of time more pleasant since you don’t need to press and hold down the trigger.

In the case of the V12, there is an on/off button on the body, which sets it apart from other Dyson stick vacuums. Personally, I love this change, as this button helps me avoid accidentally powering on the device when holding it.

App Connectivity

The Pure One S12 is Wi-Fi-enabled, allowing you to connect it to your smartphone to check the current power, battery status, alerts of potential blockages, and more. I found it not helpful while vacuuming, as everything I needed was displayed on the LCD screen.
