Tineco Pure One S11 Vs S12: What Is The Difference?

Tineco Pure One S11 vs S12: The S12 is a newer version with some upgrades, so it’s not hard to say that the second one is better.

The most obvious upgrades of the Pure One S12 over the Pure One S11, its predecessor, are the number of attachments and the battery life indicator on its LCD display. It also comes with two batteries, so a separate purchase of a spare battery is unnecessary. Of course, these upgrades cost extra bucks.

Tineco Pure One S11 Vs S12: Differences

The Tineco Pure S12 completely defeated its predecessor with a score of 2-0. It has more accessories, comes with two interchangeable batteries, and its display can tell the user how much battery life is left.

As you can see, what the S12 has in its favor is the flexible long crevice tool and soft dusting brush. The first one is a longer crevice tool with a flexible hose for better maneuverability, whereas the second one is a wider dusting surface for cleaning delicate surfaces.

Both the Tineco Pure One S11 vs S12 have white plastic wall docks. They can hold up to three attachments and have a slot for an extra battery. To charge the battery, there is no other way but to park the vacuum on the wall dock. It would be more convenient if I could plug the charger directly into the battery, as I did with Dyson vacuums. My other gripe is that there is no storage clip for the wand, so I cannot carry two attachments with me.

Weight And Maneuverability

The weights of the Tineco Pure One S11 vs S12 are  5.78 pounds and 6.35 pounds, respectively. The differences in weight seem significant on paper, but they both felt lightweight in my hands. Maneuvering them was easy, thanks to the swivel head, but they couldn’t lie completely flat, making it harder for them to get into some of my tables.

They can also be used as handheld vacuums, and I just changed the accessories to adapt to various different situations. Unlike the Tineco A10, all of their tools have a quick-release system to secure everything in place.

Battery Life

Maximum battery life≈ 45mins≈ 46 mins
Minimum battery life≈  11 mins≈ 9 mins
Charging time≈ 3.5 hours≈ 3.25 hours

These machines are powered by a 2500 mAh battery, and as previously mentioned, their wall-mount chargers have a slot for the spare battery. But the S12 comes out of the box with two batteries, while the spare battery for the S11 must be purchased separately.

The S11 has a fixed number of settings (Auto and Mode) and uses a button to switch between them, while the S12 features a power-adjusting slider behind its circle LED screen, providing a range. That way, the second one gives users better control over how much power they want to use, depending on their needs.

Utilities

Winner: Tineco Pure One S12

The S12 maintains the circle LED screen of the S11 but with the addition of a battery percentage indicator. It still shows indicators of WiFi connection, blockages, and sensor status.

The LED screen can also tell the user how dirty/clean their home is, thanks to the dirt indicator. It is a circle border that can change color: blue means your home is dust-free, while red indicates a high density of dust and dirt. The Dyson V15’s screen is even more detailed with the count and size of vacuumed dirt particles, but I don’t find it really necessary.

Tineco Pure One S11 Vs S12: Similarities

Cleaning Performance

Suction Power and Cleaning Head

At the highest power setting, the S11’s maximum suction is 140 AW, while the S12 peaks at 150 AW – there’s not much of a difference here.

In terms of floorhead, both the Tineco Pure One S11 vs S12 come with an LED multi-tasker brush roller. It is worth noticing that their upgraded versions, the S11 Tango and S12 Pro Ex, are equipped with a soft roller brushroll that is designed for cleaning hardwoods and tile flooring. They are more expensive, but I’m convinced that this floorhead is worth spending the extra bucks on.

Hard Floor

On my hard floor, the Tineco Pure One S11 vs S12 worked great if I didn’t use large debris. Yes, these machines worked best at picking up small to medium items but didn’t have enough clearance for larger ones like cereal or fruit loops. I think this is a widespread issue for models without soft rollers.

Of course, I could deal with them by reconfiguring the vacuum into a handheld unit and attaching it with the soft dusting brush or the crevice tool. But this led to a longer vacuuming session. So if hard floor cleaning is your priority, I highly recommend spending a little extra on the upgrades, the S11 Tango and the S12 Pro Ex, which include soft roller heads.

Carpet

The results of the S12 were slightly better than the S11, but they were very close. I found them to work great with the auto mode turned on. This mode increased the machine’s suction on my high carpet, where small debris sank down into the carpet. Almost all the debris is removed, proving that this feature really worked and wasn’t a gimmick.

No anti-tangle technology is equipped on both, so I wasn’t surprised that there was a moderate amount of long hair wrapped around the brush roller. But, thankfully, untangling it is easy and quick with a pair of scissors. But if you want to bypass this task, opt for a vacuum with anti-hair wrap technology, such as the Dyson V15 or V12.

Auto Mode

Another thing that the Tineco Pure One S11 vs S12 have in common is the auto mode. As these vacuums are in this mode, their power levels can be automatically adjusted based on the actual density of dust/debris. I have also seen this feature on the Dyson V15 and V12. But unlike these Dyson models, which can only adjust their suction power when the floor head is attached, Tineco’s system works with any attachment, including both motorized and non-motorized ones.

Dust Cup and Filtration System

The Tineco Pure One S11 vs S12 share a 0.6-liter dust cup, which can be emptied easily by pressing the quick-release button underneath to open the bottom door. The position of the pre-filter can sometimes cause larger debris to get stuck inside the dustbin. In this case, you will need to scoop them out manually. The entire dust cup can also be removed for deep cleaning, but I recommend avoiding getting it wet.

There are three filters on both: a mesh filter that encases a pre-filter and a post-motor HEPA filter that can trap up to 99.97% of particles. The pre-filter can be cleaned without water by using a pre-filter cleaning tool. Using it is simple: just attach it to the handheld unit, install the spare pre-filter, and turn on the vacuum. As for the HEPA filter, it can be washed under a running tap.

The app will alert you when the filters need to be cleaned, but you should clean the pre-filter monthly and wash the HEPA filter every half a year. They can be reused many times before needing to be replaced by new filters.

App Connectivity

The final similarity is the ability to connect to a smartphone via an app – very few models have this feature, even the high-end ones. The app can show you some information like battery status, reminders to clean, cleaning reports, etc.
