Tineco A11 Hero vs Shark Pet Pro: both hail from reputable brands that offer affordable stick vacuums. So which one is better? Well, my short answer is the first one!

The Tineco A11 Hero is a viable option to consider for budget-oriented users. While it may not excel in terms of performance on hard floors and lack advanced features, it shines when used on carpets. Additionally, it comes bundled with a fantastic set of attachments, further enhancing its versatility and usability.

True to its name, the Shark Pet Pro (IZ162H) proves to be a top-notch option for pet owners, thanks to its self-cleaning roller. I was also impressed with its MultiFlex technology, which allows it to stand upright on its own and allows me to clean underneath furniture without bending over.

Tineco A11 Hero vs Shark Pet Pro’s attachments

The Tineco A11 Hero includes a nifty base known as the “Powerhouse,” which pulls double duty as a charging station for the vacuum and a convenient holder for some attachments.

What I like most about this low-profile base is that it has a charging slot for the spare battery and doesn’t require any mounting or bolting, making it an ideal choice for individuals who want to preserve their walls and avoid installation hassle. Just place it anywhere near an outlet, and you’ll have a safe and organized place to charge and store the vacuum.

Despite its advantages, the “Powerhouse” holder has a couple of minor drawbacks. First, unlike the Samsung Bespoke Jet‘s accessory cradle, it lacks sufficient space to accommodate all the attachments. As a result, you’ll need to find somewhere for the remaining attachments. Additionally, I had to detach the top portion from the wand and place it separately on the base.

“Powerhouse” holder

The Shark IZ162H, on the other hand, doesn’t come with a dedicated charging station or wall mount. Instead, it boasts an independent standing capability, courtesy of its innovative MultiFlex design. This technology is basically a flexible hinge on its wand, which allows it to be bent to a 180° angle – in this “flex” configuration, the vacuum can stand on its own with the vertical footprint halved. It would be better if the vacuum offered the option to store some accessories on its body for easier accessibility.

Weight & Usability

The Tineco A11 Hero is one of the lightest stick vacuums I’ve tested. With a weight of approximately 5 pounds, I found it to be a breeze to push this one around, experiencing no pressure or difficulty whatsoever. When switched to the handheld configuration, it weighed only about 3 pounds, making it a joy to clean hard-to-reach and overhead areas without experiencing any hand fatigue.

On the other hand, the Shark Pet Pro tips the scales at about 7.17 pounds, putting it at the top end of the weight spectrum. Fortunately, maneuvering it wasn’t as difficult as it seemed. I found it, and the A11 Hero couldn’t turn a dime as well as the Dyson sticks, but that’s not a big deal. Carrying it up and down the stairs is a pain-free task for me, but I guess it can be a bit difficult for physically weak people. Its portable handheld configuration weighed about 4 pounds, requiring me to alternate hands periodically to give one a break.

Regarding cleaning under furniture, the Shark Pet Pro took the lead with its MultiFlex wand, which allowed me to do this task without leaning down as far. This feature is truly a panacea for individuals suffering from back problems or the elderly, who may find it challenging to crouch down. The Tineco A11 Hero could not lie completely flat on the ground, causing it to struggle a bit with getting under the low-clearance tables.

Battery Life

The Tineco A11 Hero vs Shark Pet Pro are both claimed to be able to run for 60 and 40 minutes, respectively. It sounds appealing, doesn’t it? But it’s common for the battery to drain faster when using the vacuum with the floorhead, making it nearly impossible to achieve the stated runtime. I tested each one with the main nozzle, and here are the results I gathered:

Tineco A11 HeroShark (IZ162H) Pet Pro
Maximum Battery Life≈ 31 mins≈ 29 mins
Minimum Battery Life≈ 7 mins≈ 10 mins
Charging Time≈ 3.5 hours ≈ 3.5 hours

As you can see, if these machines are paired with the floorhead, they don’t last very long. And if you’re living in a big house with a slew of floors, they could run out of juice before you can say, “Job’s done.”

Fortunately, they use removable and switchable batteries. So unless you’re okay with breaking your vacuuming routine into multiple sessions, you can extend their runtime by trading the death battery for the spare one. Each comes with only one battery, so you’ll need to shell out separately for the spare.

Cleaning Performance

Winner:  Shark Pet Pro

Suction Power & Floorhead

The Tineco A11 Hero boasts a maximum quoted suction power of 120 AW (air watts). On the other hand, Shark did not provide comparable specifications for their Shark IZ162H. Based on personal experience, I could distinctly feel the impressive power this one delivers during testing.

Both the Tineco A11 Hero vs Shark Pet Pro come with just one multi-surface floorhead, but the latter is a bit more special. Its roller is designed to prevent tangles from hair and fur. This is a welcome improvement for pet owners who have to regularly clean up the mess their beloved four-legged friends leave behind.

Tineco A11 Hero Vs Shark Pet Pro’s floorheads

Hard Floor

The A11 Hero effortlessly picked up small and medium-sized debris in a single pass. However, it did encounter a big setback when handling sizable or bulky debris. Instead of effectively capturing these materials, the vacuum tended to push them forward and out of the cleaning path. This can be attributed to its multi-surface floorhead’s clearance, which isn’t high enough to allow large debris to pass through underneath.

On the flip side, the Shark IZ162H showcased remarkable performance by effortlessly capturing nearly 100% of debris, regardless of its size. I was surprised since this one could achieve this great result without a soft roller designed specifically for hard floors.

Carpet

The Tineco A11 Hero passed this test with flying colors and delivered remarkable results. It sucked up all the debris and materials on my low-pile carpet without hassle. On the high-pile carpet, all debris particles were still easily removed, and only approximately 7% of the smaller debris remained after the first pass.

Likewise, the Shark IZ162H also performed like a champ. On both low and high-pile carpets, it left no large debris behind and only missed around 6% and 3% of smaller debris, respectively.

Hair Test

Both the Tineco A11 Hero vs Shark Pet Pro quickly picked up all the hair and fur used in the test, but the Shark IZ162H emerged as an ideal option for pet owners dealing with persistent shedding thanks to its tangle resistance

Unlike traditional rollers equipped with bristles, the Shark IZ162H’s brush roll features rubberized fins designed to minimize the hair wrap issue. At the end of the test session, I noticed there was only a small amount of long hair wrapped around it. That said, it wasn’t perfect, but it worked!

The A11 Hero doesn’t come equipped with any anti-tangle technology, so I had to remove the roller from the floorhead and detangle it with the hair-cleaning tool and a pair of sharp scissors. This process requires extra minutes and effort, but it ensures that the roller brush remains tangle-free and allows the vacuum to operate at its best.

Dustbin & Filtration System

Winner: Tineco A11 Hero

The Tineco A11 Hero vs Shark Pet Pro shares a 0.6-liter dustbin, which is neither small nor particularly large in the world of stick vacuums. Emptying them was as easy as pie – all I had to do was press a release button or slide a lever, respectively. I found myself using my hands to get rid of clogged clumps of tangled hair a few times, but that’s a common hiccup in the vacuuming world.

Great news for folks dealing with asthma or severe allergies – both of these models come equipped with fully-sealed filtration systems. Without these nifty systems, unfiltered air (containing dirt and allergens) will have a chance to escape before passing through the filters.

The Tineco A11 Hero has a pre-motor filter and a post-motor (HEPA level) filter. Coupled with the sealed system, they can trap almost 99.9% of microscopic dust particles and allergens.

The pre-motor filter is the first line of defense, so it should be cleaned after each use. The special thing here is that you don’t have to go through the hassle of manually washing it with water. Instead, use the pre-filter cleaning tool, which takes advantage of the vacuum’s suction, to eliminate accumulated dust and dirt. As for the post-filter, I recommend giving it a thorough wash under the tap at least once every three months.

On the flip side, the Shark IZ162H has two pre-filters (felt and foam) and one post-filter (HEPA). They are all washable and should be rinsed with water monthly, depending on your usage.

Utilities

Winner: Tie

Don’t expect any flashy, cutting-edge displays on these machines. When it comes to monitoring the battery level, the only way is to rely on the trio of small LEDs situated on the battery itself.

Regarding the control method, the Tineco A11 Hero also requires pressing a pistol-like trigger for power, like Dyson models (except the Dyson V12). But instead of keeping the trigger pressed all the time, you have the option to lock it in place, giving your fingers a well-deserved break while the vacuum keeps running. There is a button on top of the handheld unit used to switch between power modes.

As for the Shark Pet Pro, there’s a slide switch within thumb reach to turn on the vacuum and toggle between two surface-type settings: hard floor and carpet. These settings don’t alter the vacuum’s suction but rather adjust the spin speed of the roller – faster for carpets and slower for hard floors. This one is also equipped with a trigger used to activate boost mode. There is no trigger lock feature here. But I only used this mode to deal with stubborn messes, so I don’t consider this lack to be a drawback.
