Cleaning Performance

Compatible floor type
The Shark ZU782 does a decent job on both hard floors and carpets. Small and medium-sized debris does not pose a problem for this machine. It can pick up flour, chili flake, breakfast cereals, and rice with just a few passes. Additionally, the DouClean system allows it to pick up large debris without changing the head or adjusting the nozzle height. This system features a soft roller in the front and a bristle roller in the back. These two brush rolls work together to dig deeper into carpets and polish floors.
As for the Shark ZU632, it can pick up small and medium-sized debris rather efficiently on multiple surfaces. The machine struggles to vacuum larger debris, such as full-sized Froot Loops. Its brush roll system has only one roller and no height adjustment features, so the cleaner head has difficulty picking up large particles. However, you can use other tools to handle this problem.
Aside from that, the Shark ZU632’s brush roll does not turn off when in “hard floor” mode, which turns into a problem. On hardwood floors, this roller tends to beat the floor, which can scratch the surface. Meanwhile, the Shark ZU782’s double brush design does not cause the same thing.
Pet hair performance

After many checks, I noticed nothing wrapped around the bristle roller. In the event that you pick up too much hair, some may get stuck on the soft roller, but it is easy for you to clean it. The soft roller can be easily removed and installed without any tools, so removing the tangle does not take much time.
Meanwhile, the self-cleaning brushroll of the Shark ZU632 doesn’t work really well. With the same amount of pet hair, the ZU632 has more stuff stuck on its roller than the Shark ZU782. In addition, disassembling and reinstalling this brush roll is not simple, so cleaning it also becomes much more difficult and time-consuming.

The dust cup of these machines has the same capacity, about 0.84 L. In my opinion, such a capacity is a bit small. As you know, the smaller the dust container, the faster it fills up, and the more often you need to empty it. However, if the capacity of the dust cup is increased, the product weight also increases.
Regarding structure, these cups are made from hard, clear plastic, so you can tell how full it is with just one glance. The ZU632 also has a full indicator line so users can know exactly when they need to take out the trash. Besides, they are easy to clean and empty. When you remove the dirt bin, you will find it has a lid on the bottom with an opening button on the side. When you want to empty it, you just need to press that release button, and the lid will pop open, and all the dirt will fall out.
Filtration
These machines have the same filtration system, and they all work well. Each system features a post-motor filter and two pre-motor filters. These filters are all washable and reusable, so they don’t require much routine maintenance.
The pre-motor filter comes with a foam filter and a felt filter. These filters capture most of the small dust particles to protect the engine. They are located underneath the dirt compartment and are fairly easy to take out.
The tiniest particles left in the air will be trapped when passing through the post-motor filter. This HEPA filter can trap 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns, such as dust, pollen, bacteria, mold, and more. Therefore, it is very useful for people who have allergies or breathing problems. This filter is located above the cleaner head on the front of the vacuum.
Depending on how often you use the vacuum cleaner, the frequency of periodic filter cleaning is also different. Shark recommends that users clean the pre-motor filters every 3 months and once a year with the post-motor filter. Note that you should only wash them with cold water and let them dry for at least 24 hours before using them again.

Both machines have decent build quality. They are made mainly of hard plastic, except for the mental wand. Maneuverability
First of all, regarding dimensions, Shark ZU782 is somewhat more compact than Shark ZU632. The ZU782 can lie almost flat on the floor with the low-profile head, so it is fairly convenient for users to clean under tables and beds.
As for weight, Shark ZU632 is lighter than the Shark ZU782. The ZU632 weighs 16.2 pounds, while the ZU782 weighs 17.7 pounds. In my opinion, they are all quite heavy. Fortunately, both machines have a lift-away function, reducing their awkward weight greatly.
When it comes to lift-away, this feature lets you detach the pod from the wand, allowing the machine to move into tight spaces and between furniture more easily. In addition, this feature also helps users vacuum the stairs really effectively. However, this feature in the two machines is not the same.
Unlike the original lift-away version of Shark ZU782, Shark ZU632 offers more benefits than the powered version. Simply put, this new version has power at the end of the handle so that users can use motorized tools. You can’t do the same thing on older versions of the device.
