If you are looking for a compact vacuum cleaner with decent cleaning performance, you can try to consider this dou, Shark WS630 vs WS632. This article will show you my experience after testing these two machines. Overall, they share many similar features, functions, and capacities.
The Shark WS630 is designed with elegant blue color. It impressed me with its surprisingly compact design. You can use it as a stick or handheld vacuum cleaner. This vacuum performs well on various surfaces, including hardwood, tile, and area rugs.
The Shark WS632 also provides users with the same features as the WS630. It has PowerFins technology that helps prevent hair from wrapping around the brush roll. The dust cup is easy to empty with just one touch. Its compact and cordless design lets you take the vacuum cleaner everywhere, even camping.

Shark WS630 vs WS632: Differences
In the comparison between the Shark WS630 and WS632 stick cordless vacuum cleaners, these models share many similarities in performance and features. There are just a few differences that may influence your decision to choose between them a bit or not.
The first distinguishing factor is their color options. The WS632 is sleek, slate grey, adding sophistication to your cleaning routine. In contrast, the WS630 is a vibrant blue hue that adds a pop of energy to your cleaning experience. Of course, choosing a color is a matter of personal preference. It can either complement your home decor or match your style. Personally, I prefer the slate grey one for sure.
Besides, these two models come with different accessories. For instance, the WS632 has two tools – crevice and pet multi-tool. The crevice tool helps you reach tight spaces and corners. The pet multi-tool is specially designed to eliminate pet hair and dander, making it an essential asset for pet owners. On the other hand, WS630 has a crevice tool only, which is versatile for different cleaning tasks but doesn’t have specialized pet cleaning capabilities.
Shark WS630 vs WS632: Similarities
After testing both Shark WS630 and Shark WS632, I found that these two vacuums share many similar functions, such as the PowerFins technology, one-touch dust cup, portable charging base, and more. Read the breakdown below to learn the details.
Dirt bin and filtration
Dirt bin
The Shark WS630 and Shark WS632 are bagless vacuums that store dirt and debris in a dust cup. Their dust cups have a capacity of about 0.13 L, which is compact and convenient for storing collected dirt. However, I wish their dust cups could be larger since they get full rather quickly for me. Therefore, I consider this small size to be one of their drawbacks.
To their advantage, these dust cups are made of clear plastic, allowing users to gauge the level of dirt inside at a glance. In addition, to empty the dust cup, simply press the release button. This feature makes maintenance quick and hassle-free.
However, I found a design issue regarding removing the filter from the dust cup. The lid may not open far enough to allow easy access for filter removal, which could be a minor inconvenience for users.
Besides, the dust cup empty button is right under the power button, which could result in accidental dust cup emptying instead of turning the machine on. Although this design flaw may cause inconvenience, it is recommended to be cautious and prevent unintentional spills.
Filtration
Shark vacuum models WS630 and WS632 use PTFE filters known for being non-stick and resistant to high temperatures and chemicals. Vacuum cleaners often utilize PTFE filters due to their effective filtration capabilities. However, although PTFE filters are highly efficient in filtration, they can not perform as well as a HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filtration system.
Regarding design, their filtration systems comprise a fabric filter and a cyclone filter. These filters capture and trap dust and particles, preventing them from being released into the air. Both filters can be rinsed with water only. However, since these filters are rather small, you may have to clean them frequently.
In summary, while the PTFE filtration system in these two vacuums is effective for general cleaning purposes, I recommend considering a vacuum with a HEPA filtration system if you require advanced filtration for environments with high air quality. HEPA filters have a higher filtration efficiency, more effectively capturing smaller particles and allergens.
Cleaning performance
Compatible floor types
Regarding cleaning performance, these versatile vacuums excel on tile and wood floors and low-pile carpets and rugs. These machines have strong suction to remove dirt and debris from wooden floors and area rugs in a single pass. Additionally, they can pick up dirt from tile floors without spreading it around, resulting in a thorough and mess-free cleaning process.
My tests show that the WS630 and WS632 effortlessly tackled various particles, ranging from fine flour and sugar to chili flakes, cat litter, and Cheerios. However, it’s important to note that they struggled with full-sized Froot Loops, requiring additional effort to remove them from surfaces.
Another downside of their cleaning performance is that they do encounter some difficulty with higher-pile carpets. Again, the nature of these carpets poses a challenge for these machines, making them less effective in deep cleaning.
Pet hair performance
The Shark WS630 and Shark WS632 are equipped with PowerFins technology, making them ideal choices for effectively picking up pet hair on hard floors and low-pile carpets.
During our testing, I discovered that PowerFins technology is highly efficient at decreasing hair buildup on the brushroll, significantly reducing the frequency of maintenance required. However, we also observed that occasionally hair may get caught in the tiny wheels of the vacuums, making it quite challenging to remove.
In addition, I have mentioned above that they may struggle with high-pile or shag carpets. Specifically, if pet hair becomes embedded in the carpet fibers, it is quite hard for these vacuums to pull it out.
Design and convenience
Storage
The Shark WS630 and WS632 have a portable charging dock that offers both charging and storage capabilities, providing convenient and efficient usage.
The first option to store the vacuum is to place it on the charging dock and ensure the wand’s hook is securely hanging on the charging port. This upright position makes it easy to access and keeps the vacuum readily available for quick cleaning sessions.
If you have limited storage space, side-by-side positioning is the second option for storing your vacuum. Simply detach the hand vacuum from the wand and slide the nozzle opening over the post on the storage arm. This compact arrangement will minimize the amount of space your vacuum takes up.
To charge the hand vacuum, you can also connect the charging port directly to it. Just unplug the cord from the charging dock and plug it into the port located in the hand vacuum nozzle. This way, you can charge the vacuum without the charging dock, making it more flexible and convenient.
Maneuverability
Regarding maneuverability, the Shark WS630 and WS632 are exceptionally easy to navigate. These vacuums have a compact design that allows them to fit into tight spaces and move around furniture easily. In addition, they are versatile enough to be used as a whole vacuum or as a detachable handheld unit, providing maximum convenience during cleaning.
These vacuums are pretty light, weighing only about 5.9 lbs., so using them won’t put too much strain on your arm and will provide a comfortable cleaning experience. Moreover, their manageable weight makes it easy to carry them up and down stairs or move them from room to room without feeling weighed down.
Besides, the WS630 and WS632 have swivel heads that provide great maneuverability and flexibility. With the swivel feature, the cleaning head can pivot and turn easily, making it easier to clean hard-to-reach areas and navigate obstacles. Whether cleaning narrow hallways, reaching under furniture, or tackling tight corners, the swivel heads guarantee efficient and smooth cleaning performance.
Suction control
With the Shark WS630 and WS632, you have full control at your fingertips. Operating these machines is incredibly easy, thanks to their user-friendly interface. Furthermore, both models utilize the same control method, ensuring a smooth and seamless cleaning experience.
Press the On/Off button on the handle to power the vacuum. Then, to start the vacuum, simply press the button, and it will begin cleaning. When you are finished, please press the button again to turn off the power and shut it down quickly and easily.
The Boost button can help you finish the job when encountering tough cleaning tasks. This button provides extra suction power to deal with stubborn dirt and debris. To activate the Boost mode, simply press and hold the Boost button. You’ll know it’s working when the Boost icon on the vacuum flashes white. When you’re ready to switch back to regular power, release the Boost button, and the suction strength will return to normal.
Battery
These two vacuums use lithium-ion batteries to operate efficiently. The manufacturer claims each battery can run for about 20 minutes on a single charge. However, my testing revealed that the battery lasts for only 10 to 15 minutes when using the power head continuously. It’s worth noting that the battery life can vary depending on the cleaning mode selected and the type of surface being cleaned.
To fully charge the battery, it will take around 3.5 hours. But don’t worry; it’s an easy process. The vacuum has a portable charging dock to store and charge the unit. Simply connect the Shark charger to the port and place the vacuum on it to charge the battery.
Additionally, an alternative method is to directly plug the Shark charger into the hand vacuum using the port located in the nozzle opening.
