If a Dyson isn’t right for you due to its high-end price tag, you might want to take a gander at the Shark Vertex vs Tineco A11, which hails from big hitters in the vacuum industry. But the question is: which one steals the show? I give the nod to the second one!
The Tineco A11 master is also a formidable choice for anyone having different types of surfaces in their home. This workhorse comes with two batteries to expand the runtime, and it can adapt to various cleaning situations with two floorheads and various attachments. And the cherry on top? It delivers all this without making your wallet weep.
The Shark Vertex is a real contender for those on the hunt for a budget-oriented model that can handle everything from stubborn pet hair to varied surfaces without breaking a sweat. Its standout feature? The DuoClean floorhead tackles both carpets and hard floors, so I didn’t need to swap the floorheads. I’m also a big fan of “PowerFins” – silicone fins, which are the alternative to stiff bristles on the standard roller and give better agitation and anti-tangle properties.

Shark Vertex vs Tineco A11: Differences
The Tineco A11 Master holds a superior record, with two victories and one draw, when compared to the Shark Vertex. Although the former is noteworthy due to its comprehensive range of accessories, the latter is particularly suitable for pet owners, attributed to its anti-tangle technology.
Suction Power & Floorhead
Winner: Shark Vertex
Suction Power & Cleaning Head
The Tineco A11’s max suction plateaus at 120 AW, making it the model with the most modest suction I’ve put to the test. Meanwhile, Shark doesn’t quote any specs regarding Shark Vertex Suction power, but I could feel this beast is on par with top models.
Regarding the included cleaning head, the Shark Vertex comes with a DuoClean floorhead, which was truly a game-changer among Shark’s innovative breakthroughs in recent years. This 2-in-1 head includes a soft roller and carpet roller brush with spiral silicone fins. When the vacuum is active, these rollers rotate opposite each other, increasing suction and pulling more debris. Silicone fins are also considered to be more stellar than traditional stiff bristles in agitating carpet fibers and tackling hair wrap problems.

Hard Floor
Both the Shark Vertex vs Tineco A11 brought their A-game to this type of surface.
The Tineco A11’s soft roller attachment inhaled nearly all debris, including larger ones that many models struggle with. After the first pass, less than 3% of fine debris and 2% of large ones remained on the path, but rest assured, everything was removed in the second pass.
The Shark Vertex was slightly better but not significantly performance: it rounded up all, and only about 1% of fine debris was left behind after the forward pass, and everything is gone after the backward pass.
Carpet
On my low-pile carpet, the Tineco A11 hit it out of the park, capturing up to 100% of the debris of all sizes – at least nothing was visible to the naked eye after a single pass. However, the Shark Vertex dropped the ball a bit, missing about 6% of the small debris, while 100% of the large one was still captured completely.
But on my high-pile carpet, the game changed. While the Shark Vertex collected nearly all debris and left only about 2% of small ones, the Tineco A11 missed approximately 7% of this debris type.
Hair Test
This is the juncture where the Shark Vertex continues to assert its dominance. As previously highlighted, its standard roller trades the conventional stiff bristles for spiral silicone fins, a design I found extremely proficient at mitigating hair wrap problems. A significant portion of the vacuumed hair/fur successfully navigated to the dust cup, leaving only a minor amount of hair strands on the roller. That said, the PowerFins technology genuinely serves its purpose of preventing hair entanglement on the roller, far from being a mere marketing ploy.
On the flip side, the Tineco A11’s multi-surface floorhead lacks any form of anti-tangle technology, resulting in a substantial amount of long hair becoming ensnared on its roller. Fortunately, it is easy to remove the roller and de-tang it.

Attachments & Storage
Shark Vertex | Tineco A11 Master |

Unlike the Dyson V15, which comes with a wall charger, or the Samsung Jet 90, which includes a self-standing charging station, the Tineco A11 opts for a different approach. Instead, it includes a charging base called a “Powerhouse” holder. It is quite low profile and doesn’t necessitate wall-mounting – indeed, it’s a godsend for those who are averse to drilling holes into walls. It also has a charging slot for the included spare battery, which means two batteries can be charged simultaneously.
On the downside, it only has room for three attachments, so I had to keep the rest in another safe spot. Otherwise, I may lose them. Also, I had to remove the top portion from the wand to get it into the slot on the base, so it would take seconds to put them together before each vacuuming session.
The Shark Vertex, on the other hand, doesn’t need any charging station or wall mount for charging and storage – it stands independently courtesy of its Multi-Flex design. There is a large hinge on its wand, enabling the vacuum to bend and bring the dustbin closer to the floorhead and halving its vertical footprint for more compact storage. Simultaneously, the battery can be independently charged and detached from the vacuum.
Weight & Maneuverability
Tipping the scales at a modest 5.4 pounds, the Tineco A11 qualifies as a lightweight contender. It’s even on par with the Dyson V11 Outsize when utilized in the handheld configuration. With its feather-like weight, maneuvering this one on the floor and carrying it around was a walk in the park.
The Shark Vertex weighs a significant 9.02 pounds, putting it at the top end of the weight spectrum. But pushing it on the floor is not as difficult as I thought since its weight is well-balanced – its DouClean head is quite heavy and bulky, so the vacuum’s weight tends to move downward instead of putting in my hand. But carrying it up and down stairs with the main nozzle can be difficult for some people.
While both vacuums are notably more compact and lighter in handheld mode, I found the Tineco A11 allowed me to clean the ceiling for prolonged periods without fatigue. As for Shark Vertex, I had to alternate hands to give one a break. Getting in and out of tight spaces is also easier with the A11 Master since it has a more compact floorhead.
When it comes to sanitizing areas beneath furnishings, the Tineco A11 lost its edge – its inability to lay completely flat is its biggest Achilles’ heel, posing difficulties in accessing the nooks and crannies under my low-clearance tables. Conversely, the Shark Vertex is the apple of the older generation’s eye since it allows one to go further beneath furniture without having to crouch down (thanks to its Multi-Flex design, again).
Battery Life
Both the Shark Vertex vs Tineco A11 are claimed to be able to run continuously for up to 60 minutes between charges. I undertook a practical evaluation of this, employing each of these devices with their included multi-surface floorhead, and here are the results I got:
Shark Vertex | Tineco A11 Master | |
---|---|---|
Minimum Battery Life | ≈ 13 mins | ≈ 7 mins |
Maximum Battery Life | ≈ 43 mins | ≈ 31 mins |
Charging Time | ≈ 3.2 hours | ≈ 3.5 hours |
As you can see, neither device reaches the manufacturer’s stated battery life. Does that mean the manufacturers make false claims and mislead you? Certainly not. They can absolutely achieve this attractive battery life provided they are utilized with a non-motorized attachment, such as a crevice tool or combination tool, and set to the lowest power mode. But that’s an impractical use since the main nozzle tends to be the attachment of choice for the majority of cleaning tasks.
The A11 Master is equipped with two removable 2,500 mAh Lithium-ion batteries. So you can use one for vacuuming while having the other charged at the powerhouse holder. Then when the installed battery is exhausted, a simple switcheroo will double the operational time, facilitating a seamless cleaning process.
The Shark Vertex also uses a removable battery, so its battery life could theoretically be doubled by swapping out the batteries. But this one does not come with a spare battery, so you will need to buy it separately (on Amazon) if needed.
Dust Cup & Filtration System
Winner: Tineco A11 Master
The A11 Master has a decent 0.6-liter capacity, and depending on the size of your apartment and it may need to be emptied two to three times. What I like most about this dustbin is how easy it is to empty it: Just press the button, and all the content will get out- no touch the dirt. The whole dustbin also easily be detached for thorough cleaning to keep it performing well and looking good.
Conversely, the canister of the Shark IZ462H, with its capacity of 0.32 liters, is markedly smaller, meaning it necessitates more frequent emptying. In return, emptying it is also extremely easy: just push a lever down to open a trapdoor, and gravity will pull dust and dirt down. I had to shake it a bit to remove everything.
The A11 Master is a godsend for individuals grappling with severe allergies since it includes a fully sealed system with two filters, including a HEPA-grade filter – This wonderful combination assures that no allergens and dirt can escape and harm these individuals. These filters are washable and should be cleaned regularly to prevent the vacuum’s suction doesn’t decrease over time. While the HEPA filter can be washed under the tap, the pre-filter can be cleaned hands-free with the included filter cleaning tool. Just insert it into this tool, attach it to the handheld part, attach the spare pre-filter, and power on the vacuum to initiate the process.
The Shark IZ462H also earns high accolades as a suitable option for allergy sufferers since it also features a sealed system and a trio of filters: foam, felt, and post-motor HEPA filters. All these filters are also easily removable and washable. Make sure they are completely dry before reattaching.

Control Method
The Tineco A11 Master uses a trigger mechanism to activate the vacuum. But instead of having to keep it pressed all the time as I did with the Dyson models (except the Dyson V12), I can flip a switch to keep it in place. This trigger lock feature effectively addresses a widespread issue for Dyson sticks – hand fatigue at the end of the day. There is a switch on the top portion used to switch between modes.
On the flip side, there is a switch on the Shark IZ462H’s handle that is used to toggle the vacuum and select the desired mode: “carpet” or “hard floor.” Reaching it is quite easy with the thumb. To enable “Boost Mode,” I just pull a separate trigger, allowing me to maximize suction to deal with stubborn messes.
LED headlights
Both the Shark Vertex vs Tineco A11 have some LED bulbs on their main nozzles, shedding light on the path being cleaned. They can make you realize that your floors might not have been as clean as you thought they were.
