Shark Vertex Duoclean AZ2000 vs AZ2002: Differences

There is no difference between the Shark Vertex Duoclean AZ2000 vs AZ2002 except for their colors and attachments. The AZ2002 is a winner just because of its included tools.

Design

Winner: Tie

Both the Shark Vertex Duoclean AZ2000 vs AZ2002 belong to the Shark Vertex line, which has a reputation for having all the punches of the brand (I will mention it later). They are corded upright vacuums and use dust cups instead of dirtbags like the bagged models.

The only difference between the Shark Vertex Duoclean AZ2000 vs AZ2002 in terms of aesthetics is the color. The AZ2000 comes in black, gray, and blue, while the AZ2002 is available in black, gray, and rose gold.

Attachments

Winner: Shark AZ2002

Regarding tools and attachments, the AZ2000 comes with two attachments, while the AZ2002 comes with three attachments:

A 12-inch Crevice Tool
An Upholstery Tool
A Dusting Brush
A Pet Crevice Tool
A Self-Cleaning Pet Power Brush

Obviously, the included tools make the AZ2002 the better deal, which is also why it is a bit more expensive than its predecessor.

Shark Vertex Duoclean AZ2000 vs AZ2002: Similarities

Cleaning Performance

Honestly, these machines are among the most powerful vacuums I’ve ever tested. My tests showed they could suck up almost all fine to small debris on hard floors and carpets easily in the first forward pass. That’s what some vacuums fail to do, even after multiple passes.

These Vertex vacuums could also work well with medium- to large-sized debris, which few models can do. But I still had to use the wand to get the job done.

Both the Shark AZ2000 vs AZ2002 are also great at capturing and sending hair into their dust cups, which is largely thanks to the self-cleaning brush roll with PowerFins design.

Filtration

The HEPA filter

Both the Shark Vertex Duoclean AZ2000 vs AZ2002 have two pre-motor filters (felt and foam) and one post-motor filter (HEPA). They are washable when dirty and can be reused.

Better yet, these vacuums are equipped with an anti-allergen complete seal to ensure the sucked air is properly filtered before being released to the outside. With such a high-quality filtration system, no allergens can escape into the air once they have been captured.

DuoClean FloorHead

The DuoClean PowerFins cleaner head

The DuoClean PowerFins cleaner head, which combines a soft roller in front and a PowerFins brush roll in the center, is one of the selling points of these vacuums. The soft roller is responsible for picking up particles from hard floors, while the PowerFins brush roll has silicone fins to clean the carpet deeply.

In my experience, the PowerFins nozzle helps clean faster and better than the original DuoClean one. In addition, the PowerFins brush roll is also effective in minimizing hair wrap problems, thanks to its unique design.

Special Features

Firstly, the Shark AZ2000 vs AZ2002 have bright lights on the powerhead. It is a nice feature, especially if you can’t vacuum your home during daylight hours.

They also have the powered lift-away feature, which keeps the brush roll spinning after you lift the canister. So you can use your vacuum in a semi-handheld configuration (ideal for cleaning hard-to-reach areas) and a stick configuration (perfect for going under furniture).

They share a transparent 1-quart dustbin that is detachable, which enables you to see all the sucked dirt and debris. These bins can be detached from the wand and easily emptied with the push of a button.

Finally, the Shark AZ2000 vs AZ2002 deliver three surface-type settings: “Hard Floor,” “Carpet/Low Pile,” and “Thick Carpet/Area Rug,” and you can switch between them easily by toggling a bar slide on the handle. That said, the controls are literally at your fingertips, and your back will thank you for choosing either of these machines!
