Check out Shark UV725 vs CU530, 2 vacuums from 2 famous product lines of Shark! I have tested their performance, which is extremely similar in many ways. But there can only be one winner, and it’s Shark UV725!
The Shark UV725 is a well-rounded option. The vacuum has good suction power, low price, bright LED headlights, and a long power cord of 30ft. It’s a total package! However, there isn’t much to complain about, so if you need a simple device with standard suction, this one is a good pick.
As for the runner-up Shark CU530, it’s an equally straightforward device with proper suction and an even longer power cord (35ft). However, it loses the faceoff because I find its wheels stiff sometimes, making it harder for me to push the device on shaggier carpets. It also has an unsecured joint between the hose and the variable nozzle.

Shark UV725 wins 2-0 and ties twice against CU530. It excels thanks to better maneuverability and a set of headlights to aid the cleaning process. Cleaning performance

Shark UV725 and CU530 don’t differentiate themselves much regarding cleaning performance. Being affordable vacuums, their suction isn’t the best on the market, but they can remove all kinds of dry debris with a few rollovers. I’m discussing microdust, sand, pet hair, cereals, and vegetable pieces. It usually takes up to 3 rollovers to remove unwanted debris on my floors or carpets.
Regarding the surfaces that these vacuums work the best with, they are exceptionally potent against low-pile carpets. Due to the soft bristles of the roller and the close proximity between the cleaner head and the carpet, the grip of the air is strong and allows for efficient cleaning. The dirt bin fills up very quickly when using my low-pile rug or carpets in the living room or bedroom.
Removing every particle of visible dust on bare floors may take more rollovers since the grip isn’t as great compared to low-pile carpets. Luckily I can adjust the cleaning mode between the hard floor and the carpet. On hard floor mode, the brushroll spins slower for better suction! As for high-pile carpets, both devices require physical effort to push around.
I notice that the intake port of these vacuums doesn’t ride too close to the floor, meaning they can suck in larger pieces of debris better. Of course, this doesn’t mean it’s not advisable to use the crevice tool to pick up big trash pieces. I find it more efficient that way!
Maneuverability
Winner: Shark UV725
Shark UV725 is designed to provide excellent maneuverability. It features swivel steering, which allows the vacuum to maneuver around obstacles and furniture easily. This feature makes it easier to clean tight spaces and hard-to-reach areas. Additionally, the vacuum has a detachable canister that allows you to clean stairs, furniture, and other areas above the floor with ease.
Of course, with that said, the model still struggles a bit on high-pile carpets, as usual, like many corded vacuums on the market.
Regarding CU530’s maneuverability, everything was great until the wheels started to become stiffer, making pushing it noticeably less comfortable. I have added a few drops of oil to smoothen the joints. The situation got better but still isn’t as swift as I want it to be. With that said, I believe any user with no wrist pain or mobility issues can use it. The flaw is minor.
Utilities
Winner: Shark UV725
What makes UV725 stand out is its LED headlights, making it the perfect weapon against dust and sand on the floor or dark corners! Cleaning under the bed of dark areas also is much easier with its assistant. I don’t have to shine the flashlight of my phone and look for the shadow of dust under my bed anymore. Even in broad daylight, it’s still easier to detect dust patches with direct light. Always get a vacuum with LED light whenever you get the chance!
But CU530 also has its advantage. The device boasts a 35ft power cord, 5ft longer than that of UV725. The gap isn’t big, but I want to point that out. I also prefer a long cord, and 30-35ft is a good number.
Filtration system

Shark UV725 and CU530 use standard HEPA filters with a 3-stage filtration system. The 3 stages include a pre-motor foam, a felt filter, and a post-motor HEPA filter with Shark’s Anti-Allergen Complete Seal technology.
The pre-motor filter captures large debris and dust particles, while the post-motor HEPA filter captures smaller particles down to 0.3 microns in size, including pollen, pet dander, and dust mites. The Anti-Allergen Complete Seal technology ensures that all the air that passes through the vacuum is completely sealed, preventing any particles from escaping back into the air.
Regarding the dust cups’ sizes, UV725 has a 0.9 quarts cup, and CU530 has a 1-quart dirt bin. The difference isn’t big, and I don’t suggest filling the cups to the rim, either. It’s best to dump the content when it’s half-filled to ensure that the suction isn’t compromised. Too much dirt can block the airflow, making cleaning less efficient and time-consuming!
