If you’re looking for a budget-friendly stick vacuum that doesn’t compromise on performance, the Tineco A11 Hero is your go-to choice. Don’t let its affordable price tag fool you—this one is really a steal! It is very lightweight, easy to use, and equipped with many useful attachments.

The Shark Rocket Pet Pro (IZ162H) also proves that you don’t need to break the bank to get a good stick vacuum that gets the job done. I highly recommend it to pet owners since it has a self-cleaning roller designed to minimize hair wrap problems.

Shark Rocket Pet Pro Vs Tineco A11 Hero: Differences

The Tineco A11 Hero wins 2-1 and gets one draw against the Shark IZ162H. But wait, there’s more! Keep reading to explore all the exciting and juicy details.

Design & Usability

Winner: Tineco A11 Hero

Unlike the Dyson 15 and many other sticks available out there, which come with a wall mount, or the Samsung Jet 90, which has a self-standing charging station, the Shark IZ162H doesn’t include either of these convenient storage options. I would be fine with this if it could stand on its own like the Shark Vertex Pro, but it doesn’t. It also doesn’t allow storage of accessories on board. In my case, I had to lean it against the wall and store the attachments in a cabinet.

storage and charging
Storage and charging

The Tineco A11, on the other hand, comes with an included “Powerhouse” holder. Once you find the perfect spot to place it, you’ll have a secure and designated area to charge your vacuum and the spare battery, as well as neatly store some of its tools. Here’s the icing on the cake: this tool holder doesn’t require any complicated wall bolting – this is a blessing for those who don’t like drilling into walls like me.

Weight & Usability

The Tineco A11 Hero, weighing around 5 pounds, is one of the most featherweight stick vacuums I’ve ever handled. On the other end of the weight spectrum, the Shark IZ162H tips the scales at over 7 pounds. Maneuvering them around was generally easy for me, but carrying the second one up and down stairs could be a bit of a workout, especially for the elderly or those with less strength.

In the handheld configuration, they are considerably more compact and lighter than when fully assembled. I could easily clean all the tight and hard-to-reach areas with the proper tool. I found the Shark IZ162H tired my hands more quickly, making me juggle it between hands a few times to keep going.

In terms of cleaning underneath furniture, both make this task easy thanks to their low-profile floorheads and ability to lie completely flat on the floor. Better yet, their nozzles are equipped with LED headlights, which do a great job of spotlighting all the hidden grime and dust. They were very helpful to me in vacuuming those dimly lit areas, ensuring nothing was left behind.

It’s worth noting that the Shark IZ162H does come in a version that features a MultiFlex wand (my own model is equipped with a standard wand). This bendable wand allows you to clean underneath furniture without bending over. So, if you’re dealing with back pain, you’ll be better off with this one.

Battery Life

The Shark Rocket Pet Pro vs Tineco A11 Hero are touted to run non-stop for 40 and 60 minutes, respectively. But here’s the thing: to hit those runtimes, you’d need to use a cordless vacuum with a suction-only attachment and run it at its lowest power setting. In real-world use, that’s hardly ever the case. My tests showed that when used with the main nozzle, the vacuum never reaches the advertised battery life:

Maximum Battery Life≈ 29 mins≈ 31 mins
Minimum Battery Life≈ 9 mins≈ 7 mins
Charging Time≈ 3.5 hours≈ 3.5 hours

In my experience, if you live in a spacious house, one full charge won’t be enough to get the job done. That’s why I am fond of vacuum models featuring removable, interchangeable batteries. Once these machines run out of juice, replace the dead battery with another, and you’re back on the cleaning track without a hitch.

Fortunately, these machines all use removable batteries, but each only comes with one battery. That means the additional battery will need to be purchased separately. It’s worth noting that if you choose the Tineco A11 Hero EX, you get two batteries straight out of the box.

Cleaning Performance

Winner: Shark Rocket Pet Pro

Suction Power & Floorhead

The Tineco A11 maxes out at 120 AW at the highest power setting. Meanwhile, I didn’t find the Shark IZ162H’s quoted battery life, but  I could sense its superior power compared to its rival.

The Shark IZ162H comes with just one multi-surface floorhead with a self-cleaning roller. Its roller features rubber fins instead of standard bristles or a combination of bristles and fins. Shark calls this Dirt Engage technology and claims it solves the hair wrap issue effectively.

The Tineco A11 Hero also comes with just one floorhead designed to work well on all types of surfaces. However, it isn’t equipped with any kind of anti-tangle technology.

Hard Floor

Large DebrisSmall Debris
Shark IZ162H97%100%
Tineco A11 Hero56%98%

The Shark IZ162H exhibited exceptional performance on my hard floor. It effortlessly captured all the large debris and the majority of the smaller particles in a single pass, necessitating only an additional pass to achieve complete removal.

The Tineco A11, on the other hand, was still able to collect almost all the small debris easily, yet faced challenges with larger items. This model tended to push larger debris forward due to its narrow- clearance nozzle – this is a widespread issue for models without soft rollers.

High-Pile Carpet: 100%High-Pile Carpet: 92%

The performance of the Shark IZ162H on my carpets was also great. On my low-pile carpet, it effortlessly eliminated 99% of larger debris and 96% of smaller particles. Switching to the high-pile carpet, it still maintained high scores, capturing 99% of bulky debris and 97% of smaller materials in a single pass.

The Tineco A11 Hero, on the other hand, picked up 100% debris of all sizes on my low-pile carpet. On the high-pile carpet, only 7% of small debris is left behind after the initial pass. These are excellent scores for a budget-friendly model.

Hair Test

The Shark IZ162H, as mentioned above, is equipped with Dirt Engage technology, which proved to be very effective in anti-tangle. At the end of the test session, only a very small amount of long hair stayed on its roller, reducing the maintenance burden.

The Tineco A11 is not equipped with any anti-twist technology, requiring a bit more effort to untangle the hair from its roller. Fortunately, it was a breeze to detach the brush roll from the floorhead and get rid of tangled hair with the hair-cleaning tool or a pair of scissors.

Dustbin & Filtration System

Winner: Tineco A11 Hero

The Shark IZ162H features a 0.38-liter dust cup, while the Tineco A11’s canister can hold up to 0.6 liters of dust and dirt. This implies that you’ll find yourself emptying the former more frequently. Luckily, emptying them is easy by sliding a lever or pressing a release button. I found myself using my hands to clear away stubborn clumps of hair or debris, but honestly, it wasn’t a big deal for me.

About the filtration system, the Shark Rocket Pet Pro vs Tineco A11 Hero share a fully-sealed HEPA filtration system, which is an absolute lifesaver for folks grappling with intense allergies. In fact, no matter how good your vacuum’s filtration system is, its filters can’t perform at their best if unfiltered air can bolt before it runs through these filters – that’s where a fully-sealed system comes into play.

The Shark IZ162H has two pre-filters and one HEPA post-filter. They are all washable and should be rinsed with water regularly to remove build-up dirt and maintain the vacuum’s performance.

Likewise, the Tineco A11’s filtration system includes a pre-filter and a HEPA post-filter. The pre-filter can be washed hand-free using the pre-filter cleaning tool. Just insert the pre-filter into this tool, hook it up to the handheld unit, install the spare pre-filter, turn on the vacuum, and voila! This tool uses the vacuum’s power to suck out all the stuck-on dust and dirt. Meanwhile, the HEPA post-filter can be washed under the tap.

Utilities & Other Features

Winner: Tie

These machines don’t sport a fancy digital display that keeps me in the loop about the current battery life and the power mode you’re using. So, to estimate the battery level, I had to play the guessing game with the tiny LED lights on the battery. A display would certainly be more useful.

There is a slider on the Shark IZ162H’s handle used to turn the vacuum on/off and switch between two surface-type settings: hard floor (the roller spins slower) and carpet (the roller spins faster). To activate boost mode to handle stubborn messes, just pull the trigger.

The Tineco A11 Hero, on the other hand, has a Dyson-like power trigger. But here’s the best part – instead of keeping it pressed down non-stop, risking a serious case of hand fatigue, you can lock it in place. That’s a pretty cool feature that I’d love to see Dyson borrow for their future stick models.
