Shark NV752 vs NV586 are two popular models from SharkNinja, a leading manufacturer of household appliances. Both of these models are highly rated and have a lot of similarities, but there are also some differences between the two. So let’s look closely at each one in this article with me.

The Shark NV752 is a high-quality vacuum cleaner that offers numerous benefits to its users. It has a wide range of attachments. The vacuum comes with several tools designed to tackle different surfaces and areas of the house. It’s easy to maneuver around furniture and other obstacles with ease, making it very convenient for users to clean every corner of their homes.

The Shark NV586 is a good vacuum cleaner but falls short compared to the NV752 regarding attachments and maneuverability. The NV586 comes with only a few attachments, which limits its versatility and cleaning capability. In addition, it sometimes makes navigating furniture and other obstacles difficult. However, this model still provides many fantastic features to consider buying.

Shark NV752 vs NV586: Differences

Complete this paragraph: In this comparison, Shark NV752 wins over Shark NV586 with a score of 2-0 and ties once. It’s mainly because the NV586 falls short with its limited attachments and its handle design making it a bit challenging to clean tight spaces and navigate around furniture.

Cleaning performance

Ties!

Suction power

Shark NV752: The cleaning head
Shark NV752: The cleaning head

Shark NV586 has a powerful motor that delivers strong suction on any surface. It also has a variable speed control that lets me adjust the suction level according to my needs. I was amazed by how well it picked up dirt and dust from my carpets and hardwood floors. It’s quite intense, but I can just dial it down to a comfortable level.

Shark NV752 has awesome suction power too. I expected it to leave some pellets behind like all vacuums do, but it didn’t. It got 100% of all the large pellets on my floor and under the cage. No snowplowing whatsoever. This makes my cleaning experience more comfortable.

Suction control

One of the features that I look for in a vacuum cleaner is the suction control. This allows me to adjust the suction power according to the type of surface or dirt I am cleaning.

The Shark NV586 has a suction release control that lets me do this easily. I can slide the collar on the handle to reduce or increase the suction as needed. Besides, there are two additional switches for thick carpets and hard floors. The product is especially useful when I wish to clean delicate fabrics, curtains, or rugs without causing damage to them.

The Shark NV752, on the other hand, does not have such versatility. It only has three settings: thick carpets, low pile, and hard floor. And it also means three positions: beater on, beater off (full suction), and beater off (partial suction). This limits my options when I want to clean different surfaces or materials.

For example, if I want to clean a thin carpet with some dust, I have to choose between using the beater (which might damage the carpet) or partial suction (which might not pick up all the dust). Therefore, I wish it had a more flexible control like its rival.

Brush-roll system

I can say that the brush roll systems on the Shark NV586 and Shark NV752 have their strengths and weaknesses.

The Shark NV586 has a simple brush roll system controlled by a setting on the handle. With the option to switch between carpet and floor, it’s easy to adjust the suction and brush roll speed for different types of flooring.

When set to floor mode and suction set to maximum, it does a good job of picking up debris and dirt from hard floors without scattering them around. However, when it comes to deep cleaning carpets, the Shark NV586 may struggle a bit compared to the NV752.

On the other hand, NV752 has a more advanced design that features rigid and long bristles that spin and propel the vacuum forward. This means you don’t have to push as hard to move the vacuum across the floor, making it less tiring to use for extended periods.

It’s especially effective for deep cleaning carpets, as the powerful motorized brush roll can pick up dirt and debris embedded within the fibers. However, the rigid bristles may not be as gentle on delicate surfaces, so adjusting the suction and brush roll speed is important.

Compatible floor type

Regarding Shark NV586, it has a powerful suction that works well on hard floors, but it struggles with thick carpets and thin rugs. It has a brush roll shutoff feature allows me to switch between hard floor and carpet modes, but it will be short compared to its competitor. In addition, the thin rugs get sucked into the vacuum and cause it to stop working.

In contrast, the Shark NV752 is best suited for deep cleaning carpets. Its motorized brush roll can lift dirt and debris deep within the carpet’s fibers. It is particularly helpful in homes with pets or people who suffer from allergies, as it can pick up pet hair and allergens that may be embedded in the carpet. However, adjusting the settings accordingly is critical, so don’t forget it.

Pet hair performance

The Shark NV586 is pretty good at picking up short to medium-length pet hair from carpets and upholstery. But if your pet has long hair, the hair can get tangled around the rollers, which can be frustrating to deal with. Sometimes, I might have to stop and cut the hair out to get the vacuum working again.

On the other hand, the Shark NV752 is a pet hair powerhouse. It has a strong motorized brush roll can lift up even the longest pet hairs from carpets and hard floors. Plus, it’s really good at getting pet hair out from under furniture – a feature that I find super helpful.

Cleaning path

The cleaning path width is the area the vacuum head can cover in one pass. The wider the cleaning path, the fewer passes I need to make and the faster I can finish my chores. That’s why I prefer the Shark NV586 over the Shark NV752 in this round. The former has a 12-inch cleaning path, which is 1.5 inches wider than the latter’s 10.5-inch cleaning path. That may not sound like a big difference, but trust me, and it adds up over time.

Design & convenience

The winner: Shark NV752

Dirt bin capacity

Shark NV586: Dirt bin
Shark NV586: Dirt bin

One of the things I love about my Shark NV586 is the huge dirt bin capacity. It can hold up to 2.4 quarts of dust, dirt, pet hair, and whatever else I vacuum up from my floors and carpets. That means I don’t have to empty it as often as other vacuums, which is great because I hate dealing with messy bins.

Conversely, the Shark NV752 has a much smaller dirt bin capacity of only 0.88-quart. That’s less than half of what the NV586 can hold. So I would have to empty it more frequently, interrupting my cleaning flow and making me a little bit annoyed.

Weight

The Shark NV586 weighs 18.66 pounds, while the Shark NV752 weighs 16.7 pounds. This might not seem like a significant difference, but it can make a difference in how easy or difficult the vacuum is to maneuver, especially if you must move it from room to room frequently.

In my experience, the Shark NV586 feels slightly heavier and bulkier than the Shark NV752. While both vacuums are fairly easy to push around on the floor, I’ve found that the extra weight of the NV586 can make it a bit more difficult to carry up and down stairs.

Position of controls

The vibration issue with the NV586 is something that I’ve experienced as well. While I don’t have carpal tunnel syndrome, the vibration can be uncomfortable and cause numbness or tingling in my hand if I use the vacuum for an extended period.

On the other hand, the Shark NV752 is much easier to handle. It is designed to be ergonomic and comfortable, making it much more pleasant to use for longer periods of time. I don’t experience the same discomfort or numbness in my hand as its rival, even when cleaning larger areas.

Utility

The winner: Shark NV752

Attachments

So, let’s talk about the attachments that come with these two vacuums. With the Shark NV586, I got a Pet Multi-Tool with hard bristles and an upholstery tool for pet hairs. These are good and all, but they are seriously lacking compared to the Shark NV752.

The NV752 came with a bunch of cool attachments, including a dusting brush, a true pet mini motorized brush, a pet upholstery tool, and a hard floor genie. I mean, that’s like a whole toolkit in one vacuum!

And using these attachments was a game-changer. The pet tool was a lifesaver for pulling hair off my couch and throwing pillows. The upholstery tool worked wonders for dusting all sorts of things around my house, even my collectible stuffed animals (which are notoriously hard to clean).

Storing

I’m a bit of a neat freak when it comes to storing my vacuum cleaner and its accessories. The NV586 has only two accessories, so they can be easily stored on board without interfering with the cord. It’s pretty straightforward, and you won’t have to do any fancy juggling to keep everything organized.

The NV752, on the other hand, has five accessories that are great for versatility but not so great for storage. It has an onboard tool storage that clips onto the wand, but it blocks the cord wrap. So I must find another place to keep the rest of the tools. That’s quite inconvenient for somebody. Not the end of the world, but it definitely is not really ideal.

Nevertheless, it is dependent on your preferences. If you like to have many accessories with a cheaper price range, NV752 will be your choice. Otherwise, you can choose the rest with a good onboard design and buy the attachments you expect.

Shark NV752 vs NV586: Similarities

Although they have some differences, these models share several similarities, making them both appealing options. In this section, I will explore the similarities between the Shark NV752 and NV586 to help you make an informed decision.

Powered lift-away technology

Both Shark NV752 and NV586 are equipped with the Powered Lift-Away feature, which allows you to detach the canister from the main body of the vacuum and use it as a portable unit for cleaning stairs, upholstery, and other hard-to-reach areas. This feature provides greater flexibility and maneuverability when cleaning, making reaching tight spaces and above-floor surfaces easier.

HEPA filter

Both the Shark NV752 and NV586 come equipped with a HEPA filter. HEPA stands for High-Efficiency Particulate Air, and it is a type of filter that captures 99.97% of particles that are 0.3 microns or larger in size. This is important for people who suffer from allergies or asthma, as it can help remove dust, pet dander, and other allergens from the air in your home.

These filters also help keep your vacuum running smoothly by preventing dirt and debris from clogging the machine’s motor or reducing suction power.
