I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post. Read more

It is difficult to decide the obvious winner in the Shark NV360 vs UV650 competition. My final result is that the Shark UV650 is the winner as it offers greater utility while giving a comparable cleaning performance to that of the Shark NV360.

The Shark UV650 provides incredible suction power for effectively picking up all dust on the floor and carpets. It also has a longer cord and very bright LED headlights for spotting hidden dirt on the floor.

The Shark NV360 is also a lightweight vacuum with good suction that can work well on both carpeted and bare/hard floors. It can turn off the brush roll to clean delicate surfaces. However, it has a shorter cord and no LED headlights. Despite this, NV360 is still a good vacuum that effectively fulfills all your cleaning tasks.

Shark NV360 vs UV650: Differences

After comparing the Shark NV360 vs UV650, I concluded that the Shark UV650 wins 1-0 against the Shark NV360 as the UV650 is greater in terms of utility. For cleaning efficiency and convenience, the result is a draw.

Cleaning performance

Tie!

Suction power and control

I observed that the Shark NV360 and UV650 have strong suction and similar pickup efficiency, though their motor powers are different. Though I didn’t have time to measure their suction, I did cleaning tests on the carpet and bare floor, and they can suck almost dust and pet hair in just a few passes.

Besides, their suction is adjustable. By accessing the Suction Release collar (Shark NV352) and Suction Control slider (Shark UV650), you can reduce or increase the suction strength depending on the carpet piles and floor types. Owing to the strong suction, pushing and pulling these two vacuums on carpets are relatively difficult. Thus, I reduced the suction, and they slid more easily.

Brush roll performance

The brush roller between the Shark NV360 and UV650 is the same. They are bristle brush rolls and can be turned off. In the Bare Floor settings, the brush roll of these models stops spinning, so the debris scattering can be limited. This functionality is also helpful to prevent the scattering damaging the delicate floors.

Moreover, their brush rollers work well on carpets as the bristles dig deep into the carpet and loosen the embedded dirt as well as pet hairs. So, I could say that they are great for deep cleaning carpets.

However, one issue I often have when using the vacuum with traditional bristle brush rollers is the significant amount of hair getting tangled on the brush roll. The Shark NV360 and UV650 also struggle with this problem as their brush roll is not the self-cleaning type. So, I have to clip the hair off the brush roll after every cleaning time. Such a strenuous task!

Design & Convenience

Tie!

Between the Shark NV360 vs UV650, the design is not significantly different. Specifically, the Shark NV360 is relatively lighter than the UV650. Meanwhile, the Shark UV650 has a longer cord than the NV360. Besides, they all have nice swivel heads to steer the vacuum around house corners and furniture conveniently.

Overall, these two vacuums are easy to maneuver as they are under 14 lbs, and their wheels run smoothly on different surfaces. With the switch for changing the brush roll motion and the suction adjustment, they are easy to transit between carpets and bare floors and vice versa.

Utility

Winner: Shark UV650

LED headlights

The Shark UV650 has LED headlights
The Shark UV650 has LED headlights

The Shark UV650 has LED lighting on its cleaning head, which does not feature on the Shark NV360. LED headlights are a very useful feature when cleaning your house with a vac because it allows you to spot the tiny dirt on the floor, which you cannot see with the bare eyes under the natural light. It also makes vacuuming in dark areas easier.

Onboard tool storage

There is a slight difference between the Shark NV360 vs UV650 onboard tool storage. The accessory holder of the Shark UV650 allows you to attach only one tool, the crevice tool or the dusting brush. On the other hand, with the Shark NV360 tool storage, you can put both included accessories onto the unit.

However, I find that the onboarded tools are easy to fall while vacuuming as the tool clip is not well fitted. So, with this minor drawback, the Shark NV360 and UV650 tie in this subcategory.

Shark NV360 vs UV650: Similarities

The two key similarities between the Shark NV360 and UV650 are the sealed HEPA filtration system and the lift-away capabilities.

Sealed HEPA fitter

The Shark UV650 and NV360 HEPA filters are paired with Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology, which is noted for its ability to capture 99.99% of dust and allergens inside the vacuum. As a result, they are viable options for persons who suffer from allergies.

Their filter foams are easy to clean because they are washable and need simple rinsing with cold or lukewarm water to get rid of the dirt.

Lift-Away feature

The Lift-Away feature on both the Shark UV650 and NV360 Shark vacuums allows you to separate the canister from the cleaning head effortlessly. Besides, the canisters are lightweight to carry, significantly supporting cleaning above-floor surfaces or underneath furniture.
