Shark NV360 vs UV540: They Both Have An Excellent Cleaning, But Which One Is Better Overall?

I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post. Read more

It is challenging to determine whether of these two Shark Navigator Lift-Away upright vacuums, Shark NV360 vs UV540, is the superior model. Both of these models are Shark’s standard upright vacuums and perform admirably in terms of cleaning performance. But if I had to choose, I’d go with the Shark UV540 rather than the NV360 model.

The Shark UV540 Navigator has a longer cord (about 35 feet) and LED headlights for more efficient cleaning, especially in low-light or dark areas. Despite being slightly heavier than the model NV360, this vacuum cleaner is generally maneuverable.

Even though it came in second place, the Shark NV360 is still an excellent vacuum cleaner. It does an excellent job of collecting pet hairs and other debris, just like the winner did.

Shark NV360 vs UV540: Differences

After comparing Shark UV540 vs NV360 performance, I came to the conclusion that the Shark UV540 wins 1-0 against the NV360 in terms of utility. For cleaning performance, I can say that both machines perform admirably when it comes to removing dirt and dust from home, including pet hairs and other debris.

Cleaning Performance

Tie!

When comparing the cleaning performance of the Shark NV360 vs UV540, there is no discernible difference between the two models. Their efficiency is fantastic, and I believe that they offer excellent value for the money. Let’s break down the variables that contribute to their efficient cleaning process.

Suction strength and control

When looking for an upright vacuum cleaner, suction is the feature that is most significant to me. I found that the Shark UV540 and NV360 models both have powerful suction. Both vacuums were tested by cleaning my low-pile carpets, and I was astounded by the amount of dust they extracted.

They were also successful in collecting all of the hairs that were shed by my two dogs. My previous vacuum was not very cheap, but it was not powerful enough to remove all the hair from my carpet, so I had to vacuum it multiple times. Therefore, investing in a Shark UV540 or NV360 would be the best use of my time and money.

If the suction power is too strong and causes the carpet to lift, you may simply turn the ring on either of these two Sharks vacuum models. By releasing the suction strength, it becomes much more manageable to maneuver it around on the carpet.

However, neither the Shark NV360 nor the UV540 has a cleaning head height adjustment. Thus, I found it really hard to push on thick carpets unless I manually reduce the suction.

On/off Brushroll

While the brush roll is useful for vacuuming carpet, it can cause harm to hard surface floors and some rugs. In addition, when vacuuming hard floors, the brush roll can often push the dust away from the vacuum before it is sucked up. Thus, the “suction-only” function or an on/off brushroll is crucial for the quick and easy cleaning of hard floors without the risk of scratching.

Luckily, Shark UV540 and NV360 models both have two brush-roll settings, so I can switch between cleaning carpets and bare floors with ease. Just by turning the button to the bare floor settings, the brush roll stops spinning immediately. Meanwhile, If I want to vacuum my carpets, I have to activate the brush roll spin by switching the button to the carpet setting.

However, these models suffer from the hair-wrap problem because their brush rolls lack self-cleaning technology. I must constantly clean their brush roll to remove dog hairs so that they can work well in the next use.

Utility

The Winner: Shark UV540

Cord length

When comparing the Shark UV540 with the Shark NV360 regarding cord length, the UV540 has a cord that is 35 feet long, while the NV360’s cord is just 25 feet long. This indicates that with a cord that is 5 feet longer, the UV540 may be moved more easily around the house without the need to unplug and re-plug it constantly.

LED headlights

LED headlights help clean more thoroughly since they make it simpler to spot dirt and debris while vacuuming. This is especially significant in dark corners and crevices, where it can be difficult to see the dirt. Therefore, utilizing the UV540 with LED headlights can assist me in carrying out more thorough cleaning.

LED headlights are not included with the Shark NV360. Therefore, the victory goes to the UV540 in this regard.

Shark NV360 vs UV540: Similarities

Both the Shark NV360 and the Shark UV540 have a fully-sealed high-efficiency HEPA filtration system, as well as the Lift-Away function, and both have the same capacity for their dust bins.

Dust bin

Both of these vacuums have almost identical capacities for their respective dust bins. It’s about 1.2 quartz. I think this small dust bin is the real negative with these models. Because I have two big dogs, and they shed constantly so I need to empty these small dust cups frequently. If you don’t have pet that sheds as much as mine, it should be able to hold enough debris from one average- to large-sized room before you need to empty the bin.

The dust cup may not be very large, but the process of emptying it and cleaning the filter are both relatively uncomplicated. Since these are both bagless types of vacuum cleaners, all I need to do to get rid of the dirt and dust is detach the container unit and throw it away. I don’t need to remove a separate bag. It has helped me save money on the cost of bags. It appears to be sealed well while vacuuming, but when you open it to empty, some dust and dirt escapes into the air.

Fully-sealed Hepa Filtration System

Both the Shark UV540 and the NV360 have an anti-allergen complete seal system as well as high-efficiency HEPA filtration that can trap up to 99.9% dust and allergens. Thus, the air that is expelled from the vacuums is clean, which is great for those who suffer from allergies or asthma.

That may already make you more interested in these vacuums, right? However, my experience with the filter system has led me to believe that it is quite comparable to the majority of filtration systems that are found on vacuums these days, particularly when the system has multiple layers. In my experience with the Shark NV360 and the Shark UV540, both models have effective exhaust ports that keep dirt and debris from escaping into the air during the cleaning process.

However, after a certain period of time, I have noticed that the HEPA filter will become clogged, which will cause the vacuum to lose suction. When I looked at it, it did not appear to be dirty at all; however, that was most certainly the issue, which a brand-new aftermarket one fixed.

Lift-away Feature

The Shark NV360 and UV540 have a “Lift-Away” feature that allows me to remove the canister out of the cleaning head. This function is brilliant because it makes cleaning above surfaces much easier. For example, I can use it to clean cobwebs off of the ceiling, stairs, or curtains.
