The Shark NV360 vs NV586 battle is between two models from the Shark Navigator series. There could be a lot of confusion among consumers over which option they should go with. Both are really effective at cleaning, and I feel confident recommending either to families. Nevertheless, if I could only pick one, I would go with the Shark NV586.
My pick is the Shark NV586 since it has stronger suction and does a better job vacuuming hair. In addition, it is equipped with helpful LEDs, a feature that is barely present on any of the other models in the Navigator series.
Despite this, the Shark NV360 is an outstanding piece of cleaning equipment. It is also an extremely efficient cleaner, able to remove debris (even pet hair) from almost the surface. It has difficulty while vacuuming longer hair, preventing it from coming out on top. Still, it’s a lot cheaper than the winner, so that’s a positive.

Shark NV360 vs NV586: Differences
After testing both machines, I decided that the Shark NV586 won 2-1 and once tied against the NV360 thanks to its cleaning performance and useful LED headlights. Check out the article below!
CLEANING PERFORMANCE
The winner: Shark NV586
Pet hair performance
If you’re a pet owner, you will inevitably deal with issues related to your pet’s shedding. I have compared the ability of the Shark NV360 and NV586 machines to suck hair, and there is a noticeable difference between the two.
After a few tests, I can say that the Shark NV586 does an excellent job. Whether you choose to use the multi-surface floor nozzle or the soft roller floor nozzle, this vacuum will have no trouble removing pet hair from any of the floors. The vacuum’s suction is powerful enough to remove any and all pet hair from the carpet’s surface without clogging. While I used this vacuum’s brushroll, I did not see much tangled hair or hair rolling around the brushroll like I have when using other vacuums’ brushrolls. It is really a big plus.
Additionally, it comes with a Pet Multi-Tool that can remove embedded pet hair from any surface. I suggest you clean the machine after each use so that it works well and gives you the best results.
The Shark NV360 is also quite effective at removing pet hair. However, if you have long hair, this is not the best vacuum for you. When I am vacuuming the floor, I have to stop the machine very so often, get down on the floor, and either pull or cut the hair out of the brush roll. It will be hard to remove if I don’t do it often. This is annoying.
Lift-away vs Power Lift-away Functionality
You can see that the Shark NV586 is one model of the Shark Navigator Powered Lift-Away series. They call it “powered” because, unlike earlier Navigators such as Shark NV360 Navigator, when you attach the extension wand to the floor nozzle, the brushroll still spins if you want to. Which gives you a lot of power for hard-to-reach places like carpets under beds.
Design & Convenience
The Winner: Tie
Noise Level
After testing, I found that the NV360 makes a quieter noise, reaching about 77 dB. In the meanwhile, the NV586 registers at about 80 decibels. One theory to explain why this is the case is that the NV586 has increased suction power, which allows it to remove dirt more effectively. In addition, depending on the kind of floor, the machine is created a low to medium level of noise, which means that it will not significantly affect the users.
Anyway, the decibel levels produced by these two machines are both on the high side. I never use either of these vacuums in the early morning since they can potentially wake up everyone in my family.
Weight
Because I vacuum quite often and have to move the vacuum around my home, up and down stairs, the weight is an extremely important factor that I need to consider. There is a difference between Shark NV360 vs NV586 here.
The weight of the Shark NV360 is 15.96 pounds, while the weight of the Shark NV586 is 18.36 pounds. The difference between their weights isn’t big enough to be important. In my opinion, these vacuums are lightweight, making them easy to carry around the home or upstairs.
Hose Length
The length of the hose on the Shark NV360 Navigator is undeniably a significant disadvantage. Considering that its length is barely 4 feet, you can see why it is laughably inadequate. The ceiling and the tops of the high bookcases might be out of reach with a hose of only four feet in length. You can extend your reach by purchasing an extended hose. It will, of course, cost you a little bit more money.
The hose of the Shark NV586 is about 6 feet long when fully stretched out. This is not much longer than the hose that comes with the Shark NV360. To me, the longer the hoses, the better.
Cleaning Path
When compared to the cleaning path of the Shark NV360 (which was 9.5 inches), the cleaning path of the Shark NV586 (which is 11 inches) is much more beneficial to me. Both widths are not excessively large in either case. It would be helpful if the cleaning path were at least 15 inches wide so that I could rapidly vacuum the large flooring.
Utilities
The Winner: Shark NV586
Led Lights
Previously, everyone would see that the models in the Navigator series would not have LED Lights. However, they finally included LED lights on the NV586 model. It is a feature that I have come to find is absolutely essential for detailed cleanings.
The light in the house can’t show all the dirt on the floor. Believe it or not? Sometimes, even though it appears that the floors have been cleaned, there may still be some dust or hair on them. In this case, the Led headlight will reflect the dirt, dust, cobwebs, and other debris. Incredibly, it reveals pet hair on the floor that I had previously missed.
Price
The Winner: Shark NV360
Price of the Shark NV586 at the time I wrote this article was $396, while the NV360 cost only $149 (including a discount). As you can see, the price of the Shark NV586 is significantly higher than that of the NV360. And even when comparing the two items’ original prices, before any discounts are applied, the NV586 model is significantly more expensive than its counterpart.
However, we need to consider the benefits that NV586 offers that NV360 does not have or that NV360 does not possess to the same degree. Would you be willing to spend a higher price to acquire a stronger section strength and a useful LED light? If the answer is yes, then you should definitely get the NV586.
But if the LED light is not important to you, and your home does not have too much long hair, or if you do not mind removing your hair in brushroll often, then the Shark NV360 is enough for you your vacuum needs. For me, I prefer Shark NV360 this term.
