Are you searching for an affordable vacuum with proper suction power? Check out the debate of Shark NV356e S2 vs NV360 and find out which upright vacuum checks all your boxes!

Even though these vacuums are highly similar in many aspects, Shark NV356e S2 excels with some advantages in its design. The machine boasts a longer cord extending up to 30 feet, allowing users to clean a medium to large room without plugging and unplugging too frequently. In addition, it works great with short pet hair and has a reasonable 2.2-quart dirt bin, allowing less frequent dumping. So, the device has proven to be more convenient!

As for Shark NV360, this model is definitely more well-known among homeowners, and there are reasons for that. This model doesn’t struggle to clean on a hard floor and can easily handle low-pile carpets. Its small dust container and shorter cord keep this machine from winning. Other than that, it’s worth getting this device!

Shark NV356e S2 vs NV360: Differences

Shark Nv356e S2 wins 2-0 and ties once against NV360. Both vacuums are reasonably priced, but the Shark Nv356e S2 shows better value with amazing cleaning performance against microdust and larger debris, a larger dirt bin, and a slightly longer power cord for more comfortable maneuvers. Check out what I like and don’t like about each model below!

Cleaning performance

Tie

Bare floor and low-pile rug

With bare floors and low-pile rugs, these machines have no trouble eliminating all the dirt that is stuck around, even if the dirt has been resting on the floor and starting to harden. With impressive suction power, Shark NV356e S2 and NV360 have no problem handling from microdust to larger trash pieces. But, you must know how to work the systems for an effective cleaning session.

On the handles, a suction release collar or valve offers users a free adjustment of the airflow. I suggest you release the pressure and turn off the brushroll, a feature both models boast when cleaning delicate sealed floors or bare floors. This avoids pushing the dirt around, making the job harder than it should be, and damaging the surface.

In case the bare floor or the low-prile rug in the living room needs a deeper cleaning, turn on the brushroll as its rotation will separate and loosen the dust stuck in the fibers, allowing an effective cleaning experience while not adding more weight to your vacuum against rugs or carpets.

High-pile thick carpet and hair

As for high-pile carpets and hair, this pair can handle shorter fibers or hair strands. But if you are using a thick rug or trying to clean up the hair of your Afghan hound or collie, Shark NV356e S2 and NV360 might not be the best options.

Since the machines don’t have adjustable head height and anti-hair-wrap technology, working with thick plush rugs and excessively long pet or human hair will be tricky. But if you are working with breeds that have shorter hair or if you don’t have excessive fallout, these vacuums can clean spotlessly without clogging.

What these machines do have is a swivel-steering head. I have tested how the feature performs on both devices, and I’m impressed with how easy it is to move the floor nozzle around furniture, especially tiny table legs.

Design & Convenience

Winner: Shark Nv356e S2

Semi-handheld characteristic

Both have semi-handheld characteristics as their handles/ tubes can be detached from the motor and dirt bin. Changing the motor head to a crevice or upholstery will give you more flexibility against high shelves, staircases, or curtains.

Regarding maneuverability of the devices, Shark Nv356e S2 is slightly easier to handle with a total of 13.7 pounds system. As for NV360, it is a tad heavier, which is 15.96 pounds. The difference isn’t big and shouldn’t be a deciding factor, though.

From my experience with the devices, moving the vacuum around to access higher areas with the semi-handheld function is quite easy, especially with their long cords.

Cord length

About the cord length, Shark Nv356e S2 wins the round with its 30 feet cord, 5 feet longer than the one on NV360. This means that Shark Nv356e S2 doesn’t require you to plug and unplug as frequently as its opponent when cleaning a larger room. In all cases, the 30 feet and 25 feet cord lengths are generally ideal for medium to large rooms with pieces of furniture.

Dirt bin and filtration

Winner: Shark Nv356e S2

Bagless design with HEPA filter

Both machines are bagless. Thus, users with allergies or sensitive noses should consider whether they can work with this model. Their HEPA filter helps filter most dust particles, but when you empty a bagless dirt bin, there will be a good amount of debris and dust that escape and can irritate your nose.

However, bagless vacuums at this price range are distracting and don’t require users to purchase the bags. It’s one purchase for many years to come without the need for extra accessories. So, I still recommend the models to users who don’t have special needs for a bagged vacuum and still want nicely priced options with a proper filtration system.

Dust containers’ capacity and contents’ ejection

While Shark NV356e S2 boasts a 2.2-quart dust container, Shark Nv360 comes with one that can contain only 0.9 quarts. The devices hold 70.4 and 28.8oz of waste in ounces, respectively. Undoubtedly, the former can keep much more dust and debris than the latter in a single cleaning session.

Regarding the ejection of trash inside the containers, it’s the same variable system with these vacuums. You can open the container from the top or the bottom, depending on your preference. Usually, opening from the top will prevent you from touching the dirt, unlike when you open from the bottom. However, it can also be easier for spillage and dust clouds to form.
