Shark NV105 vs NV106: Differences

The Shark NV105 draws the NV106. The most striking difference between these two machines is the color. They aren’t super powerful and don’t have HEPA filtration, but they are very light and cheap.

Color and Dimensions

Winner: Tie

As mentioned above, the Shark NV105 vs NV106 are identical except for their color and dimensions. The Shark NV105 is available in blue, while the NV106 comes in purple.

The NV105 measures around 45.3 x 13.5 x 11.3 inches and weighs 10.6 pounds. It is safe to say that this model is one of the lightest Shark upright vacuums ever made, and your back will appreciate that. It is easy to maneuver the NV105 around your home and store it away in a cupboard or under the bed when it is not in use, thanks to its compact size.

The dimensions of the NV106, on the other hand, are 45.28 x 13.50 x 11.32 inches, and it weighs only 10.8 pounds. It is heavier than the NV105, but not significantly.
It is worth noting that these machines have no swivel heads like most Shark vacuums, but their light weight makes up for that.

Shark NV105 vs NV106: Similarities

Dust Cup

The 0.8-quart dust cup of the NV106

Both the Shark NV105 vs NV106 share a 0.8-quart dust cup. This dust chamber is relatively small, and you may have to empty it a few times while vacuuming, but it is a simple task. All you have to do is hold the canister over a bin and then push the release button located near the base of the canister. Then, all the debris will fall straight into the bin without creating a mess.

Suction

The Shark NV105 vs NVV106 shares a 700-watt motor. So before testing them, I guessed they would only produce low suction. But the fact is that they provide adequate suction on most surfaces. But when vacuuming my hard floor, these machines didn’t work very well, and I had to make numerous passes to pick up everything. Anyway, looking at their price tags, I thought they did a good job.

Attachments And Tools

The pair has a crevice tool and reversible upholstery brush that can be stored onboard, so they will always be on hand and won’t get lost when not in use. These machines also share a floor attachment, but you must store it separately.

Unlike many of their siblings, the Shark NV105 vs NVV106 don’t have the “Lift Away” feature. That means they can’t be used as semi-handheld vacuum cleaners, which are more compact. Instead, you can just remove the hose or wand from the body to clean high areas.

Filters

the shark nv105 vs nvv106 have no hepa filter
The Shark NV105 and NVV106 have no HEPA filter

The Shark NV105 vs NVV106 have two foam filters, also used in many Shark models, but they lack HEPA filters and anti-allergen complete seal technology. To my mind, this is a big minus since, for such a price, I can absolutely find models that come with these features.

Their foam filters are washable and should be washed with warm, soapy water at least once a year. Keep in mind to let them dry completely before reusing them to avoid developing mold issues. It’s also easy to find replacement filters on Amazon.
