The Shark HZ2002 is a powerful upright vacuum cleaner that boasts some impressive features. For starters, it comes equipped with Shark’s DuoClean PowerFins and a self-cleaning brushroll, which work together to pick up more dirt and debris than traditional vacuum cleaners. Additionally, it has anti-allergen complete seal technology that ensures none of the collected debris and dust escapes back into the air.

The Shark HZ602 is another top-of-the-line vacuum cleaner from Shark with much to offer. One of its standout features is its compact design, which makes it easy to maneuver in tight spaces. It has a washable filter that can easily be cleaned between uses, saving you time and money on replacements. Shark HZ602 Vs HZ2002: Differences

When comparing the Shark HZ602 vs HZ2002, it is fair to say that the two vacuums draw. This is because both offer a range of features that make them suitable for different cleaning tasks. They have their own merits, but at the end of the day, the decision between the two ultimately comes down to the user’s specific needs.

Cleaning performance

The winner: Shark HZ2002

Starting the HZ2002, its dual Powerfins roller system piqued my interest. The front roller, smooth and paint roller-like, accompanied by a second traditional-style vacuum roller, does offer some advantages. Specifically, I found the DuoClean system highly adept at carpet cleaning.

The rubbery ‘fins’ and brush bristles effectively latched onto embedded dirt and pet hair. As someone living with three cats and having long hair myself, I found its carpet cleaning performance to be more than satisfactory.

However, the HZ2002 fell short in terms of hard surface cleaning. For a vacuum in its price range, I was disappointed to find its performance on wood and tile floors mediocre. I had to use the detachable handheld section and the dust accessory to make up for its lackluster performance on these surfaces. It is worth noting that the handheld option is relatively user-friendly, thanks to its adequate length that prevents the need to stoop when cleaning.

On the other hand, the Shark HZ602, armed with its single PowerFins brush roll, performed decently on my rugs. The wide cleaning path was valuable, reducing the number of passes I needed to clean my floors. Yet, it didn’t outshine the HZ2002 in this area. Moreover, I found the HZ602 quite efficient at removing embedded dog hair from rugs, a boon for pet owners.

Unfortunately, my experience with the HZ602 was not without flaws. This model proved to be less reliable, overheating after just five or six minutes of continuous use and requiring cooldown periods that hampered my cleaning efficiency. Additionally, the design was a bit off-putting, with the motor releasing hot air toward my upper body while vacuuming.

In the final analysis, both vacuums have their strengths and weaknesses. The HZ2002 excels in carpet cleaning and offers better user comfort, while the HZ602 is more effective on rugs and removing embedded pet hair. However, given the issues I faced with the HZ602’s overheating and the superior versatility of the HZ2002, I would recommend the Shark HZ2002 as the better option overall, despite its less-than-stellar performance on hard surfaces.

Design and convenience

The winner:  Shark HZ602

Dirt bin capacity

First, the Shark HZ2002 houses a dirt bin with a capacity of 0.32 quarts. Don’t be misled by this seemingly diminutive size. This vacuum manages to achieve a commendable balance between compactness and efficiency.

In fact, in my numerous testing sessions, I noticed that it held up quite well in a moderately sized apartment, demanding a few mid-cleaning emptying. A well-thought-out feature indeed, aimed at those who appreciate convenience and speed during their cleaning escapades.

On the other hand, the Shark HZ602 boasts a marginally larger dirt bin capacity of 0.35 quarts. I must admit, the extra 0.03 quarts may seem insignificant in theory, but in practice, it translates to a tangible difference. For example, the HZ602 could handle a few more rounds before hitting capacity, which is particularly useful when embarking on extensive cleaning sessions.

Actually, neither vacuum has a clear advantage in terms of dirt bin capacity compared to other vacuums from other brands. This is because both of them have small volumes that require frequent emptying. However, if I had to choose one, I would go with the Shark HZ602, as it has a slightly larger bin that can hold a bit more dirt and reduce the number of trips to the trash can.

Weight and dimension

Shark HZ602: Design

Noticeably distinctions can influence your decision-making process regarding the dimensions and weight of the Shark HZ2002 and the Shark HZ602. The Shark HZ2002 weighs approximately 9.5 pounds and measures 10.24 x 10.24 x 45.27 inches, while the Shark HZ602 is slightly lighter at 8.05 pounds and has dimensions of 10.19 x 8.84 x 45.49 inches.

Examining these figures, it is evident that both vacuums possess a similar length, standing at around 45 inches. However, the Shark HZ2002 exhibits a larger footprint with dimensions of 10.24 x 10.24 inches compared to the slightly more compact size of 10.19 x 8.84 inches for the Shark HZ602. This variance in size might impact maneuverability and the ability to clean in tight or confined spaces.

Additionally, the weight of the vacuums also plays a significant role. The Shark HZ2002 weighs 9.5 pounds, making it slightly heavier than the Shark HZ602, which comes in at 8.05 pounds. This dissimilarity in weight can affect the ease of use, particularly if you anticipate carrying the vacuum up and down stairs or maneuvering it for extended periods.

Considering the aforementioned factors, it becomes crucial to determine which vacuum is better suited for your specific needs. For example, if you prioritize a larger cleaning path and don’t mind the slightly heavier weight, the Shark HZ2002 might be the more appropriate choice. Conversely, if maneuverability and a somewhat lighter vacuum are significant factors for you, the Shark HZ602 could be preferable.

Maneuverability

In our hands-on comparison between the Shark HZ2002 and the Shark HZ602, one feature stood out—cord length. For the uninitiated, you may question the significance of this seemingly arbitrary feature. However, trust me, in the world of vacuum cleaners. Cord length translates to maneuverability.

The Shark HZ2002 boasts a 30-foot cord, a delightful feature in my analysis. I revealed that I could cruise from room to room, never once hindered by the frustrating tug of the cord’s limit. Imagine the ability to reach those distant corners and spaces under heavy furniture; the HZ2002 affords this luxury, almost like wielding a relentless cleaning sword armed with an extra-long reach.

Then came the Shark HZ602, trailing its competitor with a 25-feet cord length. Don’t get me wrong; a 25-feet cord isn’t necessarily a deal-breaker. Indeed, I was able to cover a decent area before encountering the need to find a new outlet.

However, in comparison, I noted the absence of the extra 5 feet of cord. I was subtly yet frequently reminded of the 20% loss in my cleaning radius, particularly when trying to cover larger spaces. That’s the reason why I would favor the Shark HZ2002.

Utility

Tie!

Both vacuums come with a crevice tool and a pet power brush, which are useful for cleaning hard-to-reach areas and removing pet hair from upholstery and carpets. However, the Shark HZ2002 has a self-cleaning pet power brush that does not get tangled with hair and requires less maintenance. The Shark HZ602 has a regular pet power brush, which needs to be cleaned manually after each use.

The Shark HZ2002 also has a dusting brush, an attachment that can gently clean delicate surfaces such as curtains, lampshades, or keyboards. The dusting brush has soft bristles that do not scratch or damage the surface. It

The Shark HZ602 does not have a dusting brush, but it has an upholstery tool and a wider attachment that can be used to clean larger surfaces such as sofas, mattresses, or car seats. The upholstery tool has a fabric strip that helps lift and remove surface dust and dirt.

Aside from that, I feel frustrated with a tool holder of these two that can only hold two tools at a time. The tool holder clips on the vacuum shaft, which is inconvenient or secure. It can get in the way of maneuvering the vacuum, drop the tools off easily, and slide down the shaft during use.
