Shark AZ2000W vs AZ2002: Differences

The Shark AZ2002 beat the AZ2000W 1-0 just because it comes with many useful attachments. Even if it costs more, I’m happy with the purchase of the AZ2002.

Accessories

Winner: Shark AZ2002

At first glance, many people will think that the Shark AZ2000w vs AZ2002 are the same product. Yes, they are identical except that the second one comes with what Shark calls a “TruePet upgrade,” including:

Self-Cleaning Pet Power Brush: Remove pet hair and dirt on above-floor areas, such as carpeted stairs and upholstery, and actively minimize hair wrap as it cleans.

Multi-Angle Dusting Brush: This brush is designed for cleaning blinds, walls, books, ceiling fans, and the tops of furniture. All you need to do is adjust its angle to match the cleaning surface.

Anti-Allergen Dust Brush: This nylon-fiber-bristled brush is specifically designed for capturing fine allergens and dust particles from any delicate surface.

Duster Crevice Tool: It is a 2-in-1 cleaning tool: the crevice makes it easier to reach into small spaces, while the dusting brush can be used to clean a variety of surfaces.

Under Appliance Wand: This wand helps clean under and behind hard-to-move appliances and furniture.

Flexi Crevice Tool: This crevice tool can extend and flex to access baseboards, corners, ceilings, or tight spaces.

Meanwhile, the Shark AZ2000W currently only comes with the under-appliance wand.

Shark AZ2000w vs AZ2002: Similarities

Cleaning Performance

The main selling point of these uprights is their powerful suction. Dyson vacuums are often considered the king of powerful vacuums, but I can say that the Shark AZ2000w vs AZ2002 are easily on par with them. This machine worked well on my rugs, carpets, and even hardwood floors. The DuoClean cleaner head on both machines gently yet effectively cleaned floors thanks to a soft roller, while the PowerFins brush roll got into the carpet fibers with rubber fins and picked up deep-seated dirt.

The brush roll almost didn’t get stuck with hair, except for a small amount of the longer one, so the “self-cleaning” description is honest. This makes the Shark AZ2000w vs AZ2002 ideal choices for pet owners since they won’t be killed by tangled hair like many other models. Of course, I still needed to untangle it periodically by using tweezers, but it was so easy and quick. Hair wound around their small rubber wheel axles, and I hope the Shark’s future models will have an easier way to clean their wheels.

On the downside, their suction power is strong. So instead of dragging the machine, it may drag you, and you may have to struggle to pull it back. It might not be a big deal for average people, but it can be a good reason for weak users to look for other models. Another “con” is that any sharp or big stuff on the floor can be sucked in and damage the machine since the machine captures everything.

Design and Usability

The Shark AZ2000w vs AZ2002 are quite heavy at 16.38 pounds. If you are a big young man, I believe you will have no trouble pushing these machines. Otherwise, maneuvering it can be a wrestling match, especially on thick carpets, because of its heavy weight and insanely strong suction.

These machines can be easily converted into semi-handheld vacuums, making them ideal for vacuuming stairs and hard-to-reach areas. I found that my hand, which holds the somewhat heavy canister, got tired after a long time, but I couldn’t let it stay on the ground because it was pretty easy to tip over.

These machines are quite bulky and can’t go any further under the interior if they are in their default upright configuration. Fortunately, thanks to the “Powered Lift-Away” feature, you can remove the canister and clean under the stuff using the floorhead with spinning rollers. There are several LED bulbs on the vacuum head to make dust and dirt more visible.

The Shark AZ2000w vs AZ2002 share a 30-foot power cord. These cords aren’t the longest thing I’ve come across, but they’re long enough to make it easier to clean large areas without unplugging and replugging. They aren’t retractable, which is a bit inconvenient, but that’s okay!

Dust Cup Capacity and Filter

Their dust cups can contain a maximum of 0.88 quarts of dust and debris before they need to be emptied. I wasn’t impressed by their capacity, but I was glad about how easy it was to empty them. Just press a release button, and everything inside will fall straight into the trash.

Their filtration system is truly perfect, with a combination of anti-allergen complete seal technology and high-quality filters, including a washable HEPA filter. The seal technology ensures the vacuumed air can’t escape before it is properly filtered by the filters, and the HEPA filter can capture up to 99.97% of dirt and allergens.

Hand Controls

The controls are beautifully located on the handle, including the power switch and a surface-setting slider. This is much better than bending down to press the buttons on the main body as you would do with the Shark Navigator uprights.
