Samsung Jet 90 vs Dyson V11 Animal: The Samsung Jet 90 proved to be superior to its competitor, effortlessly claiming the title of the ultimate winner in this head-to-head comparison. However, I found the Dyson V11 Animal to have its own merits that can captivate and appeal to many individuals.
The Samsung Jet 90 boasts numerous qualities that are deserving of praise. It is a real beast, with an insanely strong suction power of up to 200 AW. Also, its impressive accessory set includes the standout Z charging station, which can stand independently and conveniently charge two batteries simultaneously.
The Dyson V11 Animal also has many notable advantages, such as a useful set of attachments, incredible cleaning performance on all types of surfaces, and good tangle resistance. Additionally, the Dyson V11 Animal stands out for its affordability compared to the latest Dyson models, making it a compelling choice for budget-conscious users.

Ultimately, neither model could be crowned as the absolute victor. Each vacuum demonstrated unique strengths, so the “better” option will depend heavily on individual needs and preferences.

Attachments & Storage
Samsung Jet 90 | Dyson V11 Animal |
---|---|
Turbo Action Brush Soft Action Brush Extension Crevice Tool Combination Tool Mini Motorized Tool Flexible Tool Z charging station Removable battery (x1) | High Torque Cleaner Head Combination Tool Crevice Tool Mini Motorized Tool Stubborn Dirt Brush Wand Storage Clip Docking Station & Charger Removable battery (x1) |
The Samsung Jet 90 comes with a self-standing station named “Z charging station.” This tower is perfect for those who appreciate a drill-free solution, including me. However, be prepared to indulge in some DIY steps, as this station doesn’t come pre-assembled. Of course, no steps are involved in drilling into your wall, and there’s no need for specialist know-how or exotic tools to accomplish the task.
Upon completing the assembly, the station takes on an eye-catching “Z” shape, which explains its name. Apart from its distinctive aesthetics, it offers a dedicated slot for charging an extra battery (purchased separately) and provides storage for two attachments, meaning you’ll need to find another safe place to store other attachments. In addition, this tower is also a bit cumbersome, so finding the right place to put it might pose a puzzle for many users.
Once securely fastened to your wall, it offers a safe spot to recharge your vacuum while keeping it away from the reach of four-legged friends or kids. The mount provides space for a pair of attachments, and two others can be attached directly to the vacuum body through the wand storage clip – I’d suggest housing the two most frequently used tools here.
If the wall mount doesn’t appeal to you, there’s an alternative. You can simply plug the charger directly into the battery and tuck the rest neatly away in a cupboard.
Weight & Maneuverability
In terms of weight, the Samsung Jet 90 and Dyson V11 Animal tip the scales at 6.2 and 6.7 pounds, respectively. The difference between the two is minimal. And, in my experience, neither of them feels unduly heavy. Maneuvering these two machines was a breeze. I felt the Jet 90 didn’t swivel as well as the Dyson V11, but they were very close.
In addition to the default stick configuration, these machines can be used as handheld vacuums. But despite the fact that they were noticeably lighter and more compact in this configuration, I found that extended overhead cleaning tasks resulted in hand fatigue quickly, and I had to switch hands a few times to give one a break.
Both have low-profile floorheads. Combined with the ability to lie completely flat on the ground, cleaning under furniture was as easy as pie for me. However, this task requires crouching down, posing a formidable challenge for the elderly or those with bad backs. I’ve tested several models with bendable wands that are designed to solve this problem, such as the Shark IZ462H. In addition, it would be better if these machines were equipped with headlights to make cleaning those dimly lit areas easier.
Battery Life
Both the Samsung Jet 90 and the Dyson V11 are marketed with impressive runtimes of up to an hour each. However, to hit this top-tier battery life, you’d need to operate the vacuum on the lowest power setting and employ a suction-only tool.
Realistically, the vacuuming habits of many lean more towards utilizing the floorhead, which, as my experiments showed, tends to drain the battery quicker than the manufacturer’s claims:
Samsung Jet 90 | Dyson V11 Animal | |
---|---|---|
Maximum Battery Life | ≈ 42 mins | ≈ 51 mins |
Minimum Battery Life | ≈ 10 mins | ≈ 11 mins |
Charging Time | ≈ 3.5 hours | ≈ 4 hours |
As you can see, these models could reach the quoted battery life, but their runtimes are nonetheless remarkable and adequate for those residing in compact living spaces. But what if you’re living in a mammoth-sized apartment? Fortunately, these machines use removable and swappable batteries, allowing you to significantly prolong the device’s operation by simply swapping out the battery.
The Samsung Jet 90 arrives with a single battery included, necessitating the separate purchase of an extra battery for those seeking extended runtime. As highlighted earlier, its Z charging station includes a charging slot for a second battery, meaning it can charge two batteries simultaneously.
Likewise, the Dyson V11 also comes with a click-in battery. And, of course, you can buy an additional battery if you want to prolong its operating time.
Cleaning Performance
Winner: Tie
Suction Power & Floorhead
The Samsung Jet 90 generates a tremendous maximum suction power of up to 200 AW, positioning it at the top end of the suction spectrum. Meanwhile, the Dyson V11 maxes out at 185 AW, which is also respectable for a stick vacuum.
Regarding the included floorhead, the Samsung Jet 90 includes two: one for hard floors (Soft Action Brush) and one for carpets (Turbo Action Brush). Meanwhile, the Dyson V11 only has a single multi-surface floorhead called the High Torque Cleaner Head.
Hard Floor
Both the Samsung Jet 90 and the Dyson V11 Animal blew me away with their amazing performances.
The Samsung Jet 90’s Soft Action Brush worked perfectly on my hard floor, with the ability to pick up the entirety of debris in just a single pass. In fact, such an impressive result is usually achieved by models equipped with soft rollers.
The Dyson V11 also easily picked up 99% of fine and small debris, though a small portion was scattered across the floor. When it came to larger debris, I found it necessary to fully open the two adjustable gates on the nozzle and maneuver the vacuum somewhat to pick up everything.
Carpet
These machines still achieved extremely high scores across the board. On my low-pile carpet, the Samsung Jet 90 successfully gathered approximately 98% of larger debris and 99% of smaller particles in the initial sweep, requiring an additional pass for thorough debris removal. Switching to the high-pile carpet, this one captured all the large debris without hassle but left about 6% of the smaller ones behind.
The Dyson V11 had a slightly better performance. It picked up 100% of the debris, regardless of size, in the initial pass on the low-pile carpet. When I switched to the high-pile carpet, it left behind nothing except an estimated 1% of larger debris.
Hair Test
While both vacuum models effortlessly gathered all hair and fur from various surfaces, the Dyson V11 Animal emerged as a preferable option for pet owners due to its commendable ability to de-tangle. Only a small amount of longer hair stayed on its roller, making maintenance easier and quicker.
As for the Samsung Jet 90, there was almost no tangled hair on its soft roller. But I found a large amount of vacuumed hair ended up on its multi-face brush roll – This is a widespread issue for models without anti-tangle technology.
Dust Cup & Filtration System
Winner: Tie
The Samsung Jet 90 features a 0.8-liter dustbin, which is larger than the Dyson V11’s 0.75-liter dust cup. In the realm of stick vacuums, these dustbin capacities are decidedly larger than average.
Emptying the Dyson V11’s dustbin is as easy as pie, thanks to the “Point and Shoot” mechanism: just push a red lever down a few times to let the vacuumed dust and dirt go. This mechanism reminds me of how to reload a shotgun.
On the other hand, emptying the Samsung Jet 90’s dustbin involved detaching the dustbin from the vacuum, removing the top filter with a twist, detaching the cyclone, and flipping it upside down to dispense the debris into the trash can. This multi-step process seemed quite complex and resulted in an unwanted souvenir – dirt on my fingertips.
If you opt for the Samsung Jet 90 Complete, you’ll get a Clean Station designed to simplify the emptying process. Using this tower is simple: place the dust cup on top, and all the dirt will be automatically sent to a single-use dust bag.
The Clean Station is undoubtedly a blessing for those suffering from severe allergies, offering a nearly dust-free emptying process. However, it adds a hefty sum to the overall cost of the package. The bulky footprint and noticeable noise level during operation might be drawbacks for some. The ongoing expense related to dust bag replacements is also an additional consideration.
Regarding the filtration system, the Dyson V11 includes a fully-sealed system and a washable HEPA filter. This combination is a godsend for people with severe allergies since it prevents microscopic dirt and allergens from escaping. This filter can be washed under the tap, and the vacuum’s built-in display will notify you when it’s time for a rinse.
The Samsung Jet 90 is fitted with a robust 5-layer filtration system capable of filtering an impressive 99.999% of minute particles. This advanced system consists of a cyclone, a washable micro filter, and a HEPA exhaust filter. For routine maintenance, the first two filters can be easily cleaned by rinsing them under a tap. As for the HEPA filter, a gentle tap over a trash can is all that’s needed to dislodge any accumulated dust and dirt.

User Interface & Control Method
Unlike all other V11 versions, the Dyson V11 Animal sports a more basic LED screen instead of an advanced LCD display. It shows the power mode and battery life as an illustrated icon (not a real-time countdown).
The Samsung Jet 90, on the other hand, has a high-tech display that shows the power mode selected and provides alerts related to clogging or maintenance requirements. It has one notable drawback – a lack of a battery level indicator. This was a slight disappointment for me, although I found solace in the presence of three small LEDs on the battery that provided a means to monitor the battery level independently.
Regarding the control method, the Dyson V11 necessitates continuously pressing a pistol-like trigger to keep the vacuum operational. Initially, I viewed this as a positive aspect, as it allowed for power consumption only when needed. However, in hindsight, I realized the significant trade-off involved – my hands fatigued rather quickly. It would be better if it were equipped with a trigger lock feature like the Tineco Pure One S11. To switch between power modes, just press a button on the display.
On the flip side, the Samsung Jet 90 has three control buttons: the center one is used to turn the vacuum on/off, and the others on either side are used to select the desired mode. All buttons are within thumb reach, offering a commendable ergonomic design.
Power Mode
The Dyson V11 Animal includes three power modes: “Eco,” “Auto,” and “Boost.” The standout mode here is its “Auto” mode, where the vacuum automatically adjusts its suction power according to the surface type, delivering optimized cleaning performance without requiring manual adjustments.
Curious minds may wonder, “What marvels bring this seemingly otherworldly technology to life?” The answer is the Dynamic Load Sensor (DLS) technology inside the floorhead. That said, the auto mode will be unavailable if you use the vacuum with an attachment (it will turn into “Med” mode).
The Samsung Jet 90, on the other hand, has four modes: “Min,” “Mid,” “Max,” and “Wet.” “Wet” mode is only available if the Jet 90 is paired with a spinning sweeper (or mop attachment), transforming it into a “knock-off” mop. This attachment is not included in the package and must be purchased separately if desired.
