Samsung Jet 90 vs 90E: Samsung Jet 90E (VS15R8542S1) is probably a sub-version for some countries. The color is where these two variants most obviously diverge. Also, the Samsung Jet 90E has fewer accessories than the Samsung Jet 90 Complete version with a full set of attachments.

Samsung Jet 90 vs 90E: Differences

In short, the Jet 90E version has fewer accessories than the complete version. The Jet 90E version doesn’t include the soft brush and the clean station.

So what the Jet 90E version lacks are the soft brush and the clean station:

  • Soft brush: It is the floorhead is designed specifically for cleaning hard floors, such as hardwood and tile floors. A quality vacuum should come out of the box with this roller, such as Dyson v15/V12 with the Laser Slim Fluffy head.  In fact, my test showed that the Jet 90 could remove anything on hard floors with this roller, regardless of whether it is fine dust or large debris like fruit loops. However, it didn’t work well and was nearly useless on my high-pile carpet.

  • Clean station: This tower is specifically designed to make emptying the dust bin easy and hygienic. This convoluted procedure is condensed into just two easy steps: detach the dust cup from the handheld unit and put it on top of the station. Then all the contents will be sucked out into a disposable bag, which is similar to the bag of bagless vacuums.

Samsung Jet 90 vs 90E: Similarities

Design And Usability

Weight And Storage

Bringing around 6 lbs to scale, the Jet 90 is on par with the weight of many cordless vacuum cleaners available out there. It’s not the lightest model, but it’s still easy to maneuver on the ground and around furniture. My only gripe is that  I felt its handle wasn’t the best design and was at an awkward angle.

They can also lie completely on the ground, something many vacuums can’t do (like the Tineco A11 Master), making it a breeze to get under stuff.

When used as a handheld vacuum, it was also handy for cleaning inside my car and in tight corners. It includes a lot of attachments, allowing me to get the right one for my cleaning task easily. In this configuration, I could even attach the main floorhead to the handheld unit to make cleaning my stairs easier.

Regarding storage, the Samsung Jet 90 comes with a self-standing charging stand that holds the vacuum cleaner without being mounted to a wall.  It just has room for two attachments, so everything else must be stored in my closet until I need it.

While this station provides a handy spot to store and charge the Jet 90, its cumbersome structure takes up quite a bit of space. If you don’t want to set up the tower for some reason, just remove the battery from the handled unit and have it charged on the base itself. Unlike the Samsung Jet 70, its predecessor, its wand has a telescopic design that can collapse to reduce the vacuum’s vertical footprint

Battery Life And Charging

Samsung Jet 90
Battery LifeLow: ≈ 42 mins
Medium: ≈ 23 mins
Maximum: ≈ 10 mins
Charging Time≈ 3.6 hours

Recharge time is approximately 3.5 hours, which is a lot of waiting time. So to minimize downtime, you need at least two fully charged batteries for each cleaning filter. The charging station has room to charge two batteries simultaneously: one installed and one spare. But the additional battery needs to be purchased since it isn’t included.

Dust Cup And Filtration System

The Jet 90’s dust cup is advertised as having a capacity of 0.8 liters, but it doesn’t really seem to hold that much dust and dirt since the cyclone filter assembly takes up a decent amount of space inside it.

This dustbin doesn’t have a quick release to empty it like many other cordless vacuums at the same price. I had to take the whole dustbin off the vacuum (and it was also a bear to reattach) and remove the whole cyclone filter assembly. With the clean station, the whole process becomes much simpler.
Regarding the filtration system, the Jet 90, according to Samsung, features a 5-layer filtration system that can trap up to 99.99% of dirt and allergens. The cyclone filter, the microfilter, and the dust cup are washable and should be washed with water once a month. As for the HEPA filter, it shouldn’t be washed with water.

Utilities

Instead of holding down the trigger as I did with the Dyson v15, I simply pressed one physical button to turn on the vacuum and pressed the other two to select the power mode.

The trigger is both a blessing and a curse: it helps to stop the vacuum whenever you pause in the middle of vacuuming, resulting in a longer run time, but it causes hand/wrist fatigue. Many trigger-based models are fitted with a trigger lock feature, such as the Tineco A11 Master and the Roborock H7, which keeps the vacuum running without holding down the trigger.

The Samsung Jet 90 has an LED screen that tells you what mode you’re in and displays some alerts, but it lacks what is considered a must-have for a cordless vacuum – estimated battery life.
