Samsung Jet 70 vs Dyson V11: Which one is better? My short answer is the second one!

While the Dyson V11 doesn’t have the brand’s latest punches, it’s still among the most powerful and advanced stick vacuums. It performs well on both hard floors and carpets, and the anti-tangle technology makes it ideal for pet owners. The best part is that it can automatically adjust the suction based on the type of surface detected.

The Samsung Jet 70 is lightweight and features a 5-stage filtration system with a HEPA filter. In addition, it comes with a clean station, which makes emptying the dust cup more hygienic. So although this mode doesn’t have impressive cleaning performance, it is still worth considering if you are hunting for an affordable cordless stick vacuum.

Samsung Jet 70 vs Dyson V11: Differences

The Dyson V11 wins 2-0 and ties once against the Samsung Jet 70. What make the first one ahead of the game are good cleaning performance on all surfaces, tangle-free technology, a rich set of attachments, and better battery life.

Cleaning  Performance

Winner: Dyson V11

Suction Power & Floorhead

In the most powerful mode (the “Max” mode), the Samsung Jet 70 produces an impressive suction power of 150 AW, significantly lower than the newer models – the Jet 75 and Jet 90 (200 AW). The Dyson V11, on the other hand, peaks at 185 AW. The Dyson V11, on the other hand, peaks at 185 AW, which is also lower than its successor, the  Dyson V15 (230 AW).

The Dyson V11 (Torque Drive) includes a High Torque cleaner head, which includes a bristle brush roller. What sets it apart from earlier Dyson models is its dynamic load sensor, which can adjust the vacuum’s suction according to surface type, and anti-tangle technology. The V11 Absolute does come with a soft roller, but this version does not, but it can be purchased separately on Amazon.

The Samsung Jet 70 also comes with a multi-surface floorhead called the Turbo Action Brush. This model is compatible with a Soft Action head, which laps up dust and dirt without damaging hard floor surfaces. I highly recommend it to folks with imported tiles, which are expensive to maintain.

Hard Floor

The Jet 70 easily picked up the majority of fine and small debris. For larger debris, such as fruit loops, it struggled more because its Turbo Action Brush features a low clearance, which is why you should buy a specialized soft roller that optimizes the vacuum’s cleaning performance on this type of surface.

The Dyson V11, on the other hand, could pick up almost all the debris, including the larger ones. To capture large debris, I had to open the two gates on the floorhead to the maximum level and wiggle the vacuum a bit.

Carpet

Unfortunately, the Jet 70 performed poorly on my carpets, and the thicker the carpet, the worse the performance. As soon as it hit my high-pile carpet, it stopped dead. On my low-pile carpet, it worked, but I had to do more than three passes on the same spot to pick up everything.

The Dyson V11 really shone on my carpets with a nearly flawless overall score – 99% of debris and dust were removed in the forward pass. On the thick carpet, I recommend switching to the auto mode since, on the highest power setting, pushing it is somewhat difficult.

Hair Tests

Both the Samsung Jet 70 vs Dyson V11 easily picked up hair on all types of surfaces. And, as mentioned above, the Dyson V11’s High Torque cleaner head is equipped with anti-twist technology. So it could deposit almost all of the vacuumed hair into its dustbin, meaning less maintenance. As for the Samsung Jet 70, I had to untangle its roller more frequently. That said, if you’re a pet owner, you’ll be bound to be better off with the Dyson V11.

Both the Samsung Jet 70 vs Dyson V11 come out of the box with low-profile wall-mounted charging stations that offer a safe spot to charge the vacuum and store two attachments. There is no slot for the extra battery, so it is impossible to charge two batteries simultaneously.

I found that it is unnecessary to drill holes and mount these charging stations on the wall since the battery can be charged independently without being attached to the handheld unit. So if you are living in an apartment where wall drilling is illegal, just find a suitable place to place the vacuum and park the battery in the docking station to charge it.

Weight & Maneuverability

Samsung Jet 70 vs Dyson V11 tip the scales at 5.7 and 6.7 pounds, respectively. They are relatively lightweight, and I didn’t feel tired at all after cleaning my entire house. In the handheld configuration, these models are significantly lighter, making cleaning ceilings and bookshelves a lot easier for me. The grip on both was very comfortable to hold and felt really natural in my hand.

They share a swivel head that can rotate 180 degrees, so cleaning all the tight corners is a pain-free task for me. They could also get under all my low-clearance tables easily, but I wish they had LED headlights to keep everything illuminated.

Battery Life

I did the examinations with the main nozzle attached, and here are the results:

Samsung Jet 70Dyson V11
Max Battery Life≈ 13 mins≈ 9 mins
Min Battery Life≈ 46 mins≈ 76 mins
Charging Time≈ 3.5 hours≈ 4 hours

If you’re living in a large house, don’t expect to clean your entire house with just one charge – instead, you’ll probably need to break down the vacuuming schedule into a few sessions. Charging the vacuum takes about 3.5 hours, and you can leverage this time to rest a bit. But if you want to get the job done seamlessly, it is wise to purchase at least one spare battery pack. That way, once the installed battery dies, you can easily swap it out with a fully charged battery to resume the work immediately.

The Dyson V11 also uses a removable click-in battery. As mentioned above, the station can charge the detachable battery pack separately, so purchasing an extra battery makes sense. While one battery is used to power the vacuum, the other can get a charge.

Dust Cup and Filtration System

Winner: Tie

The Samsung Jet 70 sports a 0.8-liter dust cup, which is larger than many other models I tested. To empty the cup, you must detach it (by pushing the release button) and remove the microfilter and cyclone filter assembly first. This awkward process can leave dusty sprinkles strewn on the floor and create a cloud of dust.

The Samsung Clean Station, which is designed to make emptying the Jet 70’s dust cup more hygienic, is merely the icing on the cake. It prevents dust particles from returning to the air by sending them into a single-use bag. This is better than opening the dust cup and emptying it in mid-air. All you need to do is detach the dust cup and put it on the clean station. I recommend avoiding using it at night, as it gets quite loud when operating.

The Dyson V11 has a slightly larger dust cup at 0.75 liter. It’s a lot easier to empty it thanks to the “point and shoot” mechanism: Just remove the wand or attachment, ensure the cup is covered by the trash can, and push the red lever down to eject all the contents.

The Samsung Jet 70 has a quality filtration system, including a cyclone, a microfilter, and a HEPA filter. Together, they can trap up to 99.999% of microscopic dust particles. The first two are washable and should be rinsed with water at least once a month, while the HEPA filter should be replaced with a new one whenever you notice a decrease in cleaning performance.

The Dyson V11 is also great, with a sealed system and a washable HEPA filter. The sealed system ensures nothing can escape before being caught by the filter. The filter should be washed once a month or whenever the filter indicator lights up.

Utilities

Winner: Tie

Digital Screen

The Samsung Jet 70’s digital screen shows the current power mode and alerts you to potential problems with the vacuum, such as the brush getting stuck (or having an issue) or the filter needing to be cleaned. Hence, you should check on it occasionally for vacuum status.

The Dyson V11, on the other hand, features an LCD screen that shows the cleaning mode used and the remaining battery life in minutes. Better yet, it also provides the ins and outs of troubleshooting problems with the vacuum.

Control Method

Turning the Samsung Jet 70 on and off and controlling it relies entirely on some physical buttons. Once you press the on/off button, it will take seconds to begin vacuuming. It won’t take long, but there is obviously a certain delay.

As for the Dyson V11, there is a pistol-like trigger that needs to be kept pressed continuously to power the vacuum. Whenever you release the trigger, the vacuum shuts off immediately, which prolongs the runtime. This sounds helpful, but holding down the trigger for a long time will make your hand/wrist fatigued. Dyson engineers should really consider adopting the trigger lock feature down the line.

Power Method

The Samsung Jet 70 has three vacuuming modes: min, med, and max. But once it is attached to a spinning sweeper attachment to turn into a “knock-off” mod, it’ll start in “Wet” mode, and it’s impossible to switch to other settings.

The Dyson V11 has three power modes: eco, auto, and boost. When the auto mode is on, the High Torque cleaner head can detect the type of surface you are cleaning and adjust the vacuum’s suction for optimal performance, thanks to the dynamic load sensor. But once the main nozzle is replaced with one of the attachments, this mode will turn into “mid” mode, which produces constant suction.
