If I had to choose between the Roomie Tec vs Dyson Ball Animal 3, I’d lean towards the second one, and I highly recommend choosing this one.
The Dyson Ball Animal 3 is the perfect choice for those who are willing to cough up the cash for a real workhorse that will ease their daily cleaning burden. It has a strong suction that makes it easy to capture everything on all kinds of surfaces. I wish it were lighter, came with LED headlights, and had automatic cord management, especially since it’s sold at such a high price.
The Roomie Tec 2-in-1 is compact and easy to maneuver. Its battery life is quite impressive, at least enough for me to clean the entire house. Its suction is nothing special, but it far exceeded my expectations for a stick vacuum.

Roomie Tec 2-in-1 vs Dyson Ball Animal 3: Differences
The Dyson Ball Animal 3 defeats the Roomie Tec 3-2. There are still a few things I wasn’t satisfied with, even disappointed about the winner, but its pros outweigh the cons.
Cleaning Performance
Winner: Dyson Ball Animal 3
The Dyson Ball Animal 3 is advertised as having incredibly strong suction and no suction loss, and my testing proved that wasn’t an exaggeration. It can suck up dust, debris of all sizes, and hair from my hard floors and low-to-high carpets. The trade-off for this insanely strong suction was that pushing on high-pile carpets was a bit hard. I tried adjusting its suction by toggling a small slider on its floorhead, but it only improved rather than completely solved the problem.
I noticed that only a small amount of long hair ended up on the roller, thanks to the advanced hair removal system on the floor. After my hair removal test, I also had to use scissors to cut and untangle the hair on the brush roll. Luckily, I could take off the roller by turning the cover on the side of the floorhead, which made it easy to untangle hair.
The Roomie Tec 2-in-1 is a stick vacuum, so I didn’t expect to get awesome suction from this one. And indeed, its suction is weaker than the Dyson vacuum even when set to the maximum setting. It was still good enough to clean my bare floor and low-to-medium pile carpets, but it was a bit awkward on a high-pile carpet. Anyway, it lived up to my expectations for an inexpensive stick vacuum. If there are mostly thick rugs or heavy carpets in your house, I think you would be better off with an upright.
Unlike the Dyson Ball Animal 3, the Roomie Tec’s roller was stuck with more hair. To always get the best cleaning performance, it is wise to remove the roller for at least three uses and clean off the roller, its ends, and the drive gear.
Design and Usability
Winner: Roomie Tec 2-in-1
Weight and Maneuverability
As a stick vacuum, the Roomie is obviously relatively compact and lightweight. This vacuum weighs around 4.5 pounds, making it lightweight enough for even an elderly person. Maneuvering it around furniture won’t be an issue thanks to the swivel steering feature, which makes turning on a dime as easy as pie. It may take you a while to get used to the 180-degree swivel, but you’ll see how useful it is soon.
Besides, it’s compact enough to go further under furniture easily and allows me to store it anywhere in my house. Its handle can be folded to shorten the storage height but will increase its width from front to back. This model can stand upright on its own without the holding stand, but it is easy to make it flip accidentally. So it has to be perfectly balanced. Another downside is that it doesn’t allow for storing the creative tool on the body.
The Dyson Ball Animal 3 is somewhat heavy at 17.46 lbs. Pushing this monster is an unpleasant experience for many people, especially the elderly or those with bad backs or weak wrists. The ball-shaped mechanism helps maneuver this bulky machine easier, but it prevents the machine from getting further under furniture.
The machine takes up a lot of storage space, but it makes the most of its bulky footprint by allowing you to store several (but not all) attachments on board. So you’ll still have to store most of the included accessories elsewhere.
Range
With the Roomie Tec, you can go anywhere without being limited by a power cord. It can work continuously at the maximum suction setting for 23 minutes and take about 4 to 5 hours to be fully charged. For me, the time to fully charge is a bit long, but the impressive active time makes up for that.
As for the Dyson Ball Animal 3, it comes with a 35-foot power cord. This length is on the long side, and it is rare for upright vacuums to have such a long cord. Of course, I have nothing to complain about with the length of its cord, but if only it were retractable. Bending over to manually wind such a long cord isn’t a problem for me, but it can be a hazard for people with back pain.
Dust Cup Capacity and Filters
Winner: Dyson Ball Animal 3
The dust cup capacities of the Roomie Tec vs Dyson Ball Animal 3 are 1.2 liters and 0.5 liters, respectively. So the Roomie Tec will force you to stop in the middle more often to empty its dust cup. Remember that you are always at risk of coming into contact with allergens when emptying the dust container, so the fewer times you have to empty it, the better. That’s why a larger cup is always better.
As for the filtration system, I think it is a tie because they both have a HEPA filter, which can almost completely trap dirt and allergens from the vacuumed air. With regular washing, they can last a long time, and frequent replacement isn’t necessary.
Special Features
Winner: Roomie Tec 2-in-1
LED Headlights
One unique feature of the Roomie Tech that is not available in the Dyson Ball Animal 3 is the LED headlight. This feature may sound mundane, but it will help track down items under furniture and other low-visibility areas. The Dyson Ball Animal 3 is costly, so why is it missing this nice-to-have feature?
Alternative Configuration
For an upright vacuum, its ability to switch to a portable vacuum is needed to reach tight or hard-to-reach areas, which it can’t do in its default upright configuration. The Roomie Tec can be turned into a handheld vacuum, while the Dyson Ball Animal 3 cannot.
If you want to clean stairs and tight areas easily with the Dyson Ball Animal 3, you need to work with its wand/hose, but the cleaning effect won’t be as great as using its floorhead.
Tools
Winner: Dyson Ball Animal 3
The Roomie Tec 2-in-1 comes with just a single crevice tool, while the Dyson Ball Animal 3 is packed with a bunch of useful attachments, including a tangle-free turbine tool, a combination soft bristle brush/crevice tool, a pet grooming tool, and an upholstery/stair tool. The Dyson Ball Animal 3 can adapt to more cleaning scenarios.
