The overall winner of the Roomie Tec vs Dyson Ball Animal 2 confrontation is the second one for a reason.
The Dyson Ball Animal 2 doesn’t have special features like LED lights or the ability to transform into a handheld vacuum. Still, it has strong suction power and comes with many attachments. There are still some things it could do better, but the pros outweigh the cons.
The Roomie Tec 2-in-1, even if it didn’t win this match, it’s still worth the money. At around 100 bucks for a lightweight, feature-rich model that generates good suction, I think it’s an acceptable investment.

Roomie Tec 2-in-1 vs Dyson Ball Animal 2: Differences
Dyson Ball Animal 2 defeats the Roomie Tec 2-in-1 vacuum with a score of 3-2. The key areas where the Dyson model completely outshines its competitor are cleaning performance, dust cup capacity, and attachments.
Cleaning Performance
Winner: Dyson Ball Animal 2
My testing shows that the Roomie Tec 2-in-1 vacuum is most effective at picking up dust and pet hair on floors and low-pile carpets. If you have a heavy carpet or thick rug, just use a corded upright vacuum. I considered its suction “good,” but it wasn’t strong enough to get some type of larger dirt. Both low- and high-speed suction worked well and stayed consistent until the battery was almost depleted.
Like many other vacuums that don’t have self-cleaning rollers, the Roomie Tec also faced the hair wrap problem. But that’s not a deal breaker because the brush roller was removable to eliminate longer pet hair that was easy to wrap around. For the sake of good maintenance, I recommend removing the brush roller every three or four uses for cleaning.
As for the Dyson Ball Animal 2, its suction is unquestionable since this is the main selling point of this model. It was powerful enough, not to say overkill, to capture debris of all sizes on bare floors and low-to-high carpets. Besides, its head could automatically adjust the height whenever I moved from one surface to another for optimal cleaning results without manual adjustment.
But the price to pay for the Dyson Ball Animal 2’s monstrously strong suction is that it’s a little hard to push the machine on high pile carpet. Unfortunately, there was no way to customize its suction, and the only thing I could do was turn the roller on and off.
There was also a fair amount of long hair that ended up on the Dyson Ball Animal 2’s roller. It was impossible to remove the roller from the main head, but I could unclip the base plate on the underside of the floorhead to clear any hair wraps easier.
Design and Usability
Winner: Roomie Tec 2-in-1
Weight and Maneuverability
The Roomie Tec with the handheld weighs around 4.5 pounds. Super light weight combined with the 180-degree swivel gives it excellent maneuverability. Also, it has swivel steering, meaning turning on a dime is a breeze. I even saw a woman using this vacuum while carrying her little one.
The Roomie Tec is also very compact, so it’s easy to go further under furniture to suck up dust, crumbs, or anything else that lies on the floor. But there is nowhere on the vacuum that can be used to store the 2-in-1 crevice tool so that you have it readily accessible during the vacuuming process.
The Roomie Tec can stand upright by itself without the holding stand, and you can fold down the handle to shorten the storage height. But it has to be perfectly balanced since a minor bump can make it fall over. The same situation applies to placing it in its charging station: its head has to be perfectly aligned with the handle and tilted just right to fit into the charging base.
On the flip side, the Dyson Ball Animal 2 weighs 17.5 lbs. Not to say, pushing it is a daunting task, especially on thick carpets. Besides, carrying it up and down the stairs may be impossible for many people, especially elderly people or those with bad backs. The ball-shaped mechanism is designed to make it easier to maneuver. But with the large dust cup, they prevent or make it difficult to slide the machine under a bed or table.
The Dyson Ball Animal 2 is bulky, so it takes up more storage space. But it can stand on its own and deliver onboard storage for several tools (but not all).
Range
As a cordless vacuum, the Roomie Tec provided me with unlimited mobility. This vacuum relies on a 2,200 mAh lithium-ion battery that can run for about 23 minutes and takes 4 to 5 hours to recharge. After each use, just leave the machine on the charging station, and it will automatically recharge until fully charged. I have never run out of battery during the vacuuming process, which means its battery life was enough for my daily usage. But if you live in a large house, you won’t make it.
As for the Dyson Ball Animal 2, it comes with a 35-foot power cord, which is long enough for me to reach anywhere without having to unplug and plug it in too many times. You can use an extension cord for extra length, but that almost never happens. I wish this machine could manage the cord automatically, but it is okay!
Dust Cup Capacity and Filters
Winner: Dyson Ball Animal 2
The Roomie Tec has a small dust cup that can hold only 0.5 liters of dust and dirt. So don’t expect this to vacuum a large home without frequent trips to the trash can. That’s the common downside of stick vacuums, so I wasn’t very disappointed.
The Dyson Ball Animal 2 takes the lead with a larger dust bin with a capacity of 1.2 liters. Emptying it is also easy with the push of a button. Just ensure it’s covered with the trash can, so the dirt doesn’t spread back around.
These machines share a washable HEPA filter. In addition to improving the air quality in your home, this filter also helps reduce recurring costs since it can be reused over a long period of time.
Special Features
Winner: Roomie Tec 2-in-1
Versatile 2-In-1 Functionality
I call the Roomie Tec a 2-in-1 vacuum because, apart from its default stick configuration, it can be used in a handheld configuration. So it can clean almost every single inch of your home. The Dyson Ball Animal 2 doesn’t have this nice feature. So if you want to use it to clean hard-to-reach areas, you will need to set it in the upright position and work with its wand.
LED Lights
Another thing that the Roomie Tec has over the Dyson is some LED bulbs on the base. This feature seems redundant, but it is actually helpful if you’re trying to capture dust in a dark area since it is almost invisible without a proper source of light.
Tools
Winner: Dyson Ball Animal 2
This is the area where the Dyson Ball Animal 2 triumphs over the Roomie Tec. While the Roomie Tec only comes with a 2-in-1 crevice tool, the Dyson Ball Animal 2 is packed with a broader range of attachments, including a turbo brush, soft and hard bristle brushes, a crevice tool, an upholstery tool, a hard floor tool, and a pet tool. Not to mention how well they work, obviously, more attachments allow the Dyson Ball Animal 2 to adapt to more vacuuming scenarios.
