The overall winner of the head-to-head comparison between the Roomie Tec 2-in-1 vs Dyson Ball Animal is the latter for a good reason.
If the price of the Dyson Ball Animal scares you, I’d like to say it’s worth it. Its suction power is strong, making it ideal for hard floors and low-pile carpets but difficult to push on high-pile carpets. It also comes with a lot of great attachments. However, it doesn’t have LED headlights, which I think are a must-have for a pricey upright vacuum.
So what about the Roomie Tec 2-in-1? Well, it can be said that this model is one of the best value-for-money stick vacuums I know. It’s not perfect, but if you look at what it can bring to the table, you will see eye-to-eye with me that it is a bargain.

Roomie Tec 2-in-1 vs Dyson Ball Animal: Differences
The Dyson Ball Animal beat the Roomie Tec 2-in-1 with a score of 3-2. The areas where the first one outshines the other are cleaning performance, dust cup capacity, and attachments.
Cleaning Performance
Winner: Dyson Ball Animal
In my testing, where the Roomie Tec 2-in-1 really shone was on the bare floor and low-pile carpet, which I have most of in my house. It had good suction at the high-speed setting but needed to be stronger to pick up larger debris or at least small-to-medium ones in a single pass. It didn’t work on the thicker carpet, and I thought it was a common problem with many stick vacuums.
As for picking up hair, the Roomie Tec 2-in-1 is just okay, and I knew I shouldn’t expect more from such a cheap stick vacuum. There was also a small amount of long hair stuck on the roller, but it wasn’t a big deal since I could easily remove it to remove them.
The Dyson Ball Animal had a lot of power, which was great on my floor and low-pile carpet. I was confident that this one picked up all, if not most, debris of all sizes and animal hair. It clearly outperformed the Roomie Tec on these surfaces.
You would consider too much suction a good thing, but that’s not always true. Moving this Dyson vacuum on a thicker carpet was a wrestling match, and there was no way to reduce the suction. It would be better if its suction were adjustable or if its head height could be adjusted manually. Dyson didn’t mention this minus in the description, but this machine couldn’t handle thick carpets well.
Regarding the hair capture, I have nothing to complain about except that a fair amount of hair ended up on the brush roll, which is common for models without self-cleaning rollers. There is no way to remove the roller from the floorhead, so untangling the hair is tedious. However, this is essential to ensure the roller spins correctly and the vacuum works effectively. You can use the included tangle-free turbine tool to remove the hair instead of its floorhead.
Design and Usability
Winer: Roomie Tec 2-in-1
Weight and Dimensions
The Dyson Ball Animal was a bit bulky and really heavy, and lugging it up and down narrow stairs was such a serious chore that many users contemplated getting another vacuum. The big ball made pivoting the machine easier, but along with the large dust cup, it prevented the machine from going further under furniture, such as beds and tables. So if you have arm or back issues, you should try a different vacuum since the Dyson Ball Animal can turn cleaning from a chore into a punishment.
The Roomie Tec 2-in-1, on the other hand, is super lightweight overall at about 4.5 pounds, and it was even lighter in my hand. The handle can be folded down to shorten the height for easier storage. It can stand upright on its own without a holding stand as long as it is perfectly balanced. When placing it in the charging base, its head must be perfectly aligned with the handle and tilted properly to fit into the charging station.
Range
The Roomie Tec 2-in-1 is a cordless vacuum, which means you can take it anywhere as long as you return it to its charging base before it runs out of battery. I love its unlimited movement but wish its battery life was longer. It can work continuously for more than 20 minutes and needs 4 to 5 hours to be fully charged, which may be inconvenient for you if you live in a large house. When it isn’t in use, just place it in the charging station, and it will automatically fully charge and be ready for subsequent vacuuming.
As for the Dyson Ball Animal, it has a 35-foot power cord. I believe it is long enough so that you can keep on vacuuming until your task is done from a single outlet. I was disappointed that it must still be manually wrapped and prevents the hose from deploying when stored. Sometimes I just needed to pull out the hose to capture a mess in small areas, and it was awkward and time-consuming to have to deploy the whole power cord, then rewind it after minutes of use.
Dust Cup Capacity
Winner: Dyson Ball Animal
Stick vacuums often sacrifice dust cup capacity for lightweight and easy one-handed maneuverability, and the Roomie Tec 2-in-1 is no exception. Its cup can only hold a maximum of 0.5 liters, so you can expect frequent trips to the trash can during the vacuuming process. Not only is this time-consuming, but it also increases the risk of re-exposure to allergens.
At the other end of the spectrum, the Dyson Ball Animal features a 1-liter dust bin. It’s not the biggest dust cup out there, but it’s large enough to hold all the dust and dirt in my house for every cleaning session.
Special Features
Winner: Roomie Tec 2-in-1
Alternate Configuration
Thanks to its versatile 2-In-1 functionality, the Roomie Tec can easily be turned into a small handheld vacuum to clean under furniture, countertops, and sofas.
For the Dyson Ball Animal, you can deploy its hose and lock it upright to clean hard-to-reach areas and overhead locations. Dyson made this vacuum more streamlined by storing the hose in the handle to ensure it isn’t in your way, but it’s also not super easy to get it out or put it back. But anyway, it wasn’t a big deal after I got used to it.
LED Lights
Another thing that the Roomie Tec 2-in-1 has over the Dyson is some LED bulbs on the head. With such a high price tag, I wish the Dyson Ball Animal had some LEDs on its floorhead. In my experience, all the Dyson upright vacuums lack this feature, although it is essential for vacuuming in dark spaces where you can’t detect dirt with your naked eye.
Tools
Winner: Dyson Ball Animal
The Dyson Ball Animal beats the Roomie Tec here, as it comes with more attachments. The Roomie Tec 2-in-1 only comes with a 2-in-1 crevice tool, while the Dyson is packed with a wider range of attachments, which include a tangle-free turbine tool, stair tool, multi-angle tool, and combination tool. With such an extensive collection of attachments, I believe there’s nothing the Dyson Ball Animal can’t do for your daily cleaning tasks.
