Today’s comparison between the Roborock H7 vs Dyson V12 will outline the pros and cons of each model. But for people who are pressed for time, the Dyson V12 is the winner.

The Dyson V12 is the best compact cordless stick you can buy. Regarding the pros: this machine is powerful, can automatically adjust suction, has a wonder laser sighting, comes with a great set of tools and accessories, and has a convenient LCD display. Any downsides? The dust cup will fill up quickly because of its small size. Most importantly, it isn’t cheap to enter the cordless stick vacuum world. But it is worth the price!

Gone are the days when Roborock was known only for robot vacuums. It has released many quality cordless vacuums, and the Roborock H7 is one of them. This one doesn’t stand out from the crowd, but it’s still a great stick for any household. It is light enough for a kid to use, has a long battery life, and has good performance on carpets. Plus, all attachments are magnetized to attach to the charging dock or any magnetized surface.

Roborock H7 vs Dyson V12: Differences

The Dyson V12 wins 2-1 and draws once against the Roborock H7. The Dyson V12 performs well on all surfaces, especially hard floors, thanks to the Laser Slim Fluffy floorhead. It is also equipped with anti-twist technology to minimize hair wrap issues and comes with a top-notch set of attachments. The battery life isn’t impressive, but it is possible to double the runtime by purchasing an additional battery.

Cleaning Performance

Winner: Dyson V12

Suction Power And Cleaning Heads

At the maximum setting, the suction power of the Roborock H7 is quite impressive at 160 AW. Meanwhile, the Dyson V12 is the latest model in the Dyson V-series, but its maximum suction is not stronger than most previous models.

It is yet too early to declare which one performed better than the other, which leads to another important factor – the included floorhead.

Dyson V12’s Laser Slim Fluffy and Motorbar cleaner heads

Two cleaning heads come with the Dyson V12, including the Laser Slim Fluffy (designed specifically for hard floors) and the Motorbar cleaner head (best for carpets). The Roborock H7, on the other hand, only comes with a multi-surface floorhead.

Hard Floor

I was very shocked with the first pass of the Dyson V12. With the Laser Slim Fluffy and maximum suction power, it could easily pick up almost all dust, debris, and pet hair from the floor. The floorhead pushed a few large pieces of debris, like oats, around rather than sucking them up. So it took me an extra pass to catch everything, but its performance overall still made me overjoyed. The “Detect Laser” feature is no joke. It really made dust and dirt more visible in dark conditions.

As for the Roborock H7, with its highest suction, it collected a good amount of small-to-medium debris and dust but struggled with larger ones. Some pieces got clogged in the cleaning head, and when the vacuum was turned off, it spit them out.

Carpet

On my low-pile carpet, the Roborock H7 performed just as well as it did on hard floors. But larger debris again became a problem, leading to the removal of about 93% of the debris. This rate isn’t amazing, but it’s not bad, either. Given the amount of money this machine calls for, it could perform better.

Surprisingly, the Roborock H7 performed better on thicker carpets. It removed about 98% of the debris on this type of surface. I was surprised by this result – There were zero issues with large debris.

With the Motorbar cleaner head, the Dyson V12 also had spectacular results on all types of carpet. But I had to adjust the gates on the floorhead to collect larger debris and move more freely on the thick carpet. It seems there is nothing this vacuum can’t handle quickly and effortlessly.

Better yet, the Dyson V12 has unique qualities that make it easier to untangle the roller. Specifically, it has something called “Hair Removal Vanes,” which is a comb-like system to remove hair from the roller brush. The hair wrap problem was somewhat resolved, but not entirely.

The Dyson V12’s wall mount provides a neat and convenient storage/charging solution. It is possible to put two of the included attachments on this mount and two others on the machine’s machines (with the wand clip attached). Dyson offers a charging stand to keep the vacuum body and all the attachments in one place, but you’ll need to spend a few more bucks to get it. It isn’t pricey and will keep attachments organized without drilling into the wall. Highly recommend it!

As for the Roborock H7, MagSafe technology (also applied to the iPhone 12 series) is really the icing on the cake. It allows you to attach the vacuum itself or any attachments to the wall charger or to any other nearby magnetic surfaces. No more bags for attachments!

Weight And Maneuverability

Weighing just about 5.2 pounds, the Dyson V12 is lighter than previous Dyson cordless sticks. For example, it is about 20% lighter than the V15, mainly because of the considerably smaller dust cup.  The lighter weight makes it much easier to hold the handheld unit aloft to reach ceiling corners. I could effortlessly move it forward, sideways, and underneath furniture without causing any stress on my wrist.

The Roborock H7 is very easy to use and super lightweight at 3.1 pounds. It is also equipped with a swivel head so that I could make tight turns easily with a gentle twist of the wrist. Its turning radius is good but not amazing like Dyson’s. This model also has the ability to lie backward in a nearly flat position.

Battery Life

Roborock H7Dyson V12
Minimum charging time≈ 14 minutes≈ 10 mins
Maximum charging time≈ 87 mins≈ 42 mins
Charging time≈ 2.5 hours≈ 3.5 hours

The Dyson V12 uses a removable and replaceable 2500 mAh battery, so you can vacuum with a fully charged battery and keep the spare battery charged, which is the same as what the Dyson V15 offers. But you’ll have to buy a second battery separately to swap out if you think one battery is not enough for your daily cleaning chores.

The Roborock H7 is powered by a secondary 80Wh Li-Po battery. In Eco mode, the battery life is more than enough for most small to medium-sized homes. But in Max mode, the cleaning time is really short. This battery is built-in, meaning the operating time can’t be extended by purchasing a spare battery.

Hence, although the Roborock H7 has a longer battery life, the non-removable battery takes the shine off its convenience.

Dust Cup Capacity And Filters

Winner: Roborock H7

One of the headline-making features the V12 Dyson carries over from other Dyson V vacuums is the “point and shoot” emptying mechanism. After detaching the tube/ tool from the handheld unit, just push the lever to flip open the base of the dust cup, and all the dirt will fall straight into the trash. My only minor complaint is that pet hair and large debris often got jammed in the top of the dust cup because of its small size (0.35 liters). So I had to slip my hand inside to grab them and slide them out into the trash.

The V12 also features whole-machine filtration, including a sealed system and a washable HEPA-grade filter. So it can trap up to 99.99% of micro-sized particles and allergens as small as 0.3 microns. Wash the filter whenever the LCD screen gives you a maintenance alert.

On the flip side, the Roborock H7 sports a 0.5-liter dustbin, which is equivalent to the Samsung Jet 75‘s. I found emptying it not too easy since there is no mechanism to push all the contents out like with Dyson cordless vacuums. Another option to house vacuumed dust particles is to use a dust bag. This option is ideal for people with allergies but will incur a recurring cost for dust bag replacement.

The Roborock H7 features 5-layer filtration, including a HEPA-grade filter to keep the dirt vacuumed inside the unit. All the filters can be washed with water as well.

Utilities

Display Screen

On the Dyson V12’s screen, you can see an analysis of the dust particles (quantity and size) that are coming in via the multi-stage filtration system. It also shows you the current cleaning modes, how much run time is left, if it’s time to maintain the filter, or whether the vacuum has a blockage. Underneath the screen is a button that lets you switch between three vacuuming modes: eco, medium, and boost.

The Roborock H7 has a 1.3-inch OLED screen that shows the cleaning mode you chose and how much runtime is left. There is another button used to cycle between three levels of power: eco, standard, and max. The screen will update the estimated run time remaining, depending on your chosen mode.

On/Off Control

The Dyson V12 retains the characteristic Dyson gun form. But you no longer have to hold down an on/off trigger, like with the V15. Instead, you’ll need to push a big, red button to turn the V12 on or off. Removing the trigger will cut down on finger fatigue, but the trade-off is that the V12 doesn’t offer the same battery protection as the pistol-like trigger system. So to conserve battery life, remember to switch the vacuum off when not in use. Don’t temporarily leave it on when you pause to do something else.

The Roborock H7 features a trigger, but there is a small button that can be used to lock this trigger. That way, it can keep the vacuum running without pressing down on the trigger.
