Referring to LG, many people are bound to think of high-quality LED TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, etc. But, in fact, they have also released several vacuum cleaners that can catch up with or even beat some products of the behemoths in the vacuuming industry. Don’t you believe it? My comparison of the LG Cordzero vs Dyson V12 will show you.
The Dyson V12 is the latest model in Dyson’s V cordless vacuum line. It was designed with compactness and lightweightness in mind but still comes with best-of-the-line features, such as a Laser Slim Fluffy floorhead, anti-tangle technology, and self-adjusting suction power.
While the LG Cordzero isn’t the winner, it’s still convincing proof that LG can make top-notch cordless vacuums. There are many good things about the LG CordZero A9: Its performance is incredibly good, its charging price doesn’t require drilling holes, and it is highly ergonomic.

LG CordZero Vs Dyson V12: Differences
The Dyson V12 defeats the LG Cordzero with a score of 3-1. Where the V12 really shines is the deep cleaning of carpets, filtration systems, and more. Keep reading to see more!
Cleaning Performance
Winner: Dyson V12
Suction Power And Floorhead
The Dyson V12 can generate a maximum suction power of 150 Air Watts (AW), which is lower than that of some previous models, such as the Dyson V15 and Dyson V11. LG Cordzero Ultimate has a slightly lower maximum suction power at 140 AW. Another sub-version of the LG Cordzero is the LG Cordzero Kompressor, which has an amazingly strong power of up to 200 AW.
Regarding cleaning heads, both include two main floorheads: a soft roller and a regular roller brush. The LG Cordzero Kompressor variant doesn’t come with a soft roller.

Hard Floor
With the power floor nozzle attached, the LG Cordzero performed admirably on my hard floor. It could easily pick up 100% of what’s on the floor, from fine dust, hair, and small-to-medium debris to larger debris.
The Dyson V12, with its Laser Slim Fluffy cleaning head, also had the same great performance – nothing was left behind. But it takes the lead with “Dust Detect” technology. This is a green laser light on the nozzle that makes the dust and dirt on the floor more visible, and I believe it to be significantly more effective than the LED headlight on many other vacuums.
Carpet
The LG CordZero picked up the majority of small debris on the carpet (about 96%-97%), but it struggled more with larger debris. I consider this a good result for a cord-free vacuum.
On both low and high-pile carpets, the Dyson V12 easily removed larger debris, thanks to two adjustable gates on the multi-surface floorhead, but couldn’t pick up 100% of small things, such as sand and sugar.
The V12 has slightly less power than the Dyson V15, so on the plus side, it was less likely to get caught on my carpet, even when the max suction mode was turned on. But you’ll need something more powerful to suck up everything that’s deep in the carpet.
Hair
On both carpets and hard floors, the LG Cordzero and Dyson V12 did a good job of collecting hair, and nothing stayed on their soft rollers after. They are washable and can be easily removed for maintenance.
The Dyson V12’s multi-surface floorhead has hair removal vanes – a row of fangs that help prevent tangles. My testing showed that there was only a small amount of long hair wrapped around the roller, and it was easy to remove. The same thing happened with the LG Cordzero’s universal power nozzle, which is a great result for a floorhead without anti-tangle technology.
Both are also equipped with an attachment to deal with long hair without tangling: the power punch nozzle (LG Cordzero) and hair screw tool (Dyson V12). So, generally, both are excellent options for folks looking to clean hair on any of these surfaces.

Attachments And Storage

Regarding storage, the LG Cordzero is in a league of its own. If you oppose drilling holes, its storage stand has you covered. It can store three tools and charge two batteries simultaneously, one of my favorite features. The LG CordZero Kompressor version is even better with the AIO (all-in-one) charging station, which provides the ABC solution: auto emptying, battery charging, and compact storage.
The Dyson V12 includes a wall-mounted charger. By fixing it on the wall near a socket, it can house and charge the vacuum at the same time. But it only has room for two attachments, so finding another proper place to store the others is essential. If you don’t favor wall-hanging storage solutions, consider purchasing a free-standing station for Dyson cordless vacuums separately, which is $60 additional.
Weight And Maneuverability
The Dyson V12 is designed with compactness and lightweight in mind, which is why it features a small dust cup (more on that later). It weighs about 5.2 pounds, which is 1.6 pounds lighter than the V15 (6.8 pounds). Hence, when using the V12, I could vacuum for a long period without any strain on my wrist.
The LG Cordzero Ultimate is a bit heavier at 5.95 pounds. It was still light enough for me to handle and use without feeling awkward. Carrying and maneuvering it is a breeze, thanks to the swivel head.
Both the LG Cordzero vs Dyson V12 can be reconfigured into handheld vacuums (which are lighter than 4 pounds), making them ideal for cleaning overhead or hard-to-reach areas.
Battery Life
LG CordZero Ultimate | Dyson V12 Detect Slim | |
---|---|---|
Battery Life | Normal: 41 mins | Eco: 72 mins |
Power: 19 mins | Auto: 44 mins | |
Turbo: 7 mins | Boost: 9 mins | |
Charging Time | ≈ 3.5 hours | ≈ 4 hours |
The LG Cordzero Ultimate has a 2300 mAh battery (the A9 Kompressor has a bigger battery, which gives it a longer run time). It comes with two batteries, so you can double the runtime of the vacuum without spending extra money.
The V12 uses a large battery (2500 mAh), so it can run longer. However, it still drains the battery quickly when the most powerful “Boost” mode is enabled. So it didn’t give me enough time to handle stubborn messes.
Both the LG Cordzero vs Dyson V12 use detachable batteries, which are easy to remove and swap out if you have an extra battery. The LG Cordzero comes out of the box with two batteries, while the Dyson V12 includes just one. So to extend the Dyson V12’s running time, you will need to purchase an additional battery. The LG CordZero charging station can charge two batteries at a time, while the Dyson V12’s wall charger can’t.
Dust Cup Capacity And Filtration System
Winner: Dyson V12
The main factor that contributes to the Dyson V12’s lightweight design is its small dust cup. The capacity of its cup is 0.38 liters, making it the smallest of the Dyson V-Vacuum line. Emptying it is a breeze, thanks to the “point and shoot” mechanism. Dirt and hair tended to get trapped deep inside the cup, so I had to stick my hand inside to get everything out a few times.
The volume of the A9 Ultimate’s dustbin is 0.399 liters, and it doesn’t have the dirt compacting feature like the Kompressor variant. It has a release lever used to open a trap door but has no mechanism to push the downward contents like the Dyson V12.
The A9’s filtration system includes a metal dust filter, a washable primary filter, and a post-motor HEPA filter. Meanwhile, the V12 uses a one-piece HEPA filter, which is rinsable. Folks with severe allergies will be glad that the Dyson V12 sports a sealed system, but the CordZero A9 doesn’t, which takes the shine off it. For its exorbitant cost, I was expecting more.
Utilities

Noise
I measured the noise levels of these machines using a sound meter, and here are the results:
Noise Level | Dyson V12 Detect Slim | LG Cordzero A9 Ultimate |
---|---|---|
Low | 70.6 dB | 72.2 dB |
Max | 81 dB | 78.9 dB |
There is only a slight difference, and I don’t think this will be a deciding factor. They are generally on the loud side compared to many other cordless stick vacuums.
On/Off Control
Unlike the Dyson V15 and previous models, the V12 features a single on/off button. This is a new feature for Dyson cord-free vacuums, and most likely, all future models of this brand will apply this design. The benefit of the pistol-like trigger is that it allows you to use exactly how much battery you need, but the button will provide more comfort since it cuts down on fatigue from continuously pressing the trigger. I wish this button were within reach of my thumb so I wouldn’t have to use a second hand to turn the vacuum on or off.
The LG A9 Ultimate also has some easy-to-access on top of the handle, making this vacuum ergonomically pleasing to use. One button is used to turn the vacuum on/off, and the two other buttons are used to increase or decrease its suction.
Display Screen And App Connectivity
The Dyson V12’s LCD vacuum, like that of the V15, displays the vacuuming setting, estimated remaining run time, maintenance alerts, and analysis of dust particles. One of its special abilities is counting how many dust particles are vacuumed and categorizing them into four size groups: 10, 60, 180, and 500 microns, thanks to a piezoelectric sensor.
The LG Cordzero has no screen – this was a big minus since I constantly had to remember which cleaning mode it was in.
I could connect the Cordzero A9 Ultimate to your smartphone via the LG ThinQ app. This app could tell me how often and for how long the vacuum was used over weeks, months, or years, which is further broken down into cleaning modes. This information wasn’t really helpful to me.
A more useful thing is Smart Diagnosis, which notified me about the vacuums’ operational condition along with maintenance advice. It also told me when the machine was fully charged and included the user guide as well as filter cleaning instructions.
