Kenmore Intuition vs Shark Vacuum NV356E: Compare The 2 Versatile & Easy To Maneuver Vacuum Models

I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post. Read more

Both Kenmore Intuition BU4022 and Shark NV356E 31 Navigator Lift-Away Professional are good vacuums with great versatility and easy maneuverability. In the comparison of Kenmore Intuition vs Shark Vacuum NV356e, I noticed that the Kenmore Intuition is relatively better than the Shark NV356e.

The greatness of Kenmore Intuition comes from its higher suction at the cleaning head and better picking up large debris than its competitor. Additionally, this is the bagged upright vacuum, which is a more ideal choice for allergy and asthma sufferers. It has brushroll shutoff functionality, a swivel head, and LED headlights for more convenience in cleaning.

The Shark NV356e also features a great swivel head, brushroll on/off option, and a slightly large dirt cup, however, it does not have LED headlights. Besides, its suction at the nozzle is not as powerful as the Kenmore, so it needs more passes to pull up the embedded dirt in the carpets and floors. In general, the Shark NV356e is an excellent alternative to the Kenmore Intuition BU4022 if you don’t want to spend more money on buying extra bags, while still having a good cleaning performance.

Kenmore Intuition vs Shark Vacuum NV356E: Differences

In the comparison of Kenmore Intuition vs Shark Vacuum NV356E, the Kenmore Intuition BU4022 is the better model with a score of 3-0 against the Shark NV356e. In my evaluation, the Kenmore BU4022 has greater suction at the head, larger dirtbag capacity, and features bright LED headlights.

Cleaning performance

Winner: Kenmore Intuition BU4022

Suction strength and control

It seems that the Kenmore Intuition has greater suction at the head than the Shark NV356e. The airflow at the nozzle of the Kenmore model is about 72 cfm while that of the Shark NV356e is approximately 56 cfm. This means it needs fewer passes to clean hard floor crevices with the Kenmore Intuition than with the Shark NV356e.

However, the suction at the hose of the Shark is a bit stronger than that of the Kenmore model. The measured hose suction numbers are 82 inches and 80 inches water lift for the Shark vacuum NV356e and the Kenmore Intuition BU4022, respectively.

One thing I like about these two vacuum cleaners is that I can adjust the suction strength. The suction-adjustment slider on Kenmore Intuition and the suction collar on Shark NV356e are responsible for that task. It is a useful feature for vacuum models with no head height adjustment like them as it supports maneuverability on carpets. By releasing the suction amount, I can push the vacuum on my high-pile or thick shag carpets without putting too much effort into it.

Brushroll system

  • Nozzle width

The brusroll design between Kenmore Intuition vs Shark Vacuum NV356E is relatively identical, except for the width. The Kenmore Intuition has a larger nozzle brushroll width, about 11 inches, while that of the Shark is just 9.5 inches. The wider nozzle brush roll will help cover more spaces in one pass, thus saving your cleaning time.

  • Brushroll On/Off

Besides, these vacuums allow you to stop the brush-roll beater bar, enabling higher pick-up efficiency on hard floors. The functionality to turn off the brush roll motion is essential to limit the debris scattering, which is often noticed with vacuum models without shut-off brusroll option. Besides, this function also protects the floor or carpet surfaces when using the hose.

  • Brush-roll indicator light

Kenmore Intuition and Shark NV356e all feature the indicator light for the brush roll. They let you know when the brush roll is stuck and needs maintenance. If the light turns red, it indicates that you must check the brush roll to avoid suction loss and ensure the vacuum’s performance. If the light turns back to green, it means the brush roll is functioning properly.

Compatible floor type

As the Kenmore Intuition has a higher suction value at the nozzle, it performs relatively better than the Shark NV356e. But overall, both vacuums are good at pulling different types of dust on carpets and hard floors, such as fine debris, human and pet hairs, and large-size cereal particles.

In particular, for picking sand in hard-floor crevices, the Kenmore performs better. For sucking the larger debris like fruit loops, the Kenmore Intuition is also slightly better. Such performances can be attributed to its higher nozzle suction and the bigger bottom gate of the head.

The same noticeable drawback of Kenmore Intuition and Shark NV356e Navigator is the hair wrap problem. It is because their brush roll is not self-cleaning type. Consequently, you need to do regular clipping of hair from the brush roll to ensure their best suction performance.

Dust container & Filtration

Winner: Kenmore Intuition BU4022

Dust container

The most noticeable difference between the Kenmore Intuition vs Shark Vacuum NV356E is their bag type. The Kenmore Intuition is the bagged upright type while the Shark NV356e is bagless. Besides, the dirtbag of the Kenmore has a larger capacity than the dirt cup of the Shark one, which is about 3.2 quarts compared to 2.2 quarts, respectively.

Each bag type has its pros and cons, but in short, I would say that the bagged Kenmore vacuum is the ideal option for those suffering from severe allergies and asthma. It is because you don’t have to touch your hand on the dust or be afraid of dust clouds when emptying the dirt bag as all specks of dust are captured in the bag. Yet, you will have to spend extra money purchasing new packs of bags when they are finished because the bag is not reusable.

On the other hand, with the bagless upright, the disadvantage of spending extra money could be eliminated but the dust clouds should be a concern. However, if your allergy is not severe or you don’t want to spend that much money on the extra bags, you should wear a mask while using the vacuum and emptying the dirt cup of the Shark NV356e.

Filtration

The filtration of both Kenmore Intuition BU4022 and Shark NV356E is the sealed HEPA system. This means they can filter microdust particles and trap them inside the vacuum, which is effective in reducing allergens for protecting users’ health in the long run.

Besides, as the Kenmore Intuition BU4022 is the bagged type, its dirt container is not see-through like the dust cup of the Shark NV356e. So, the Kenmore vacuum has the Bag full check indicator, announcing to you when the bag is full and needed changing. So, the non-see-through dirtbag is not a big problem for Kenmore Intuition BU4022.

Utility

Winner: Kenmore Intuition BU4022

LED headlights

One of the features making Kenmore Intuition more convenient to use than the Shark NV356e is its LED headlights. Like many users, I also prefer the vacuums featuring LED headlights because this light type is bright and has direct illumination. Therefore, they effectively light up the dark areas to reveal the dirt on the floor.

Kenmore Intuition vs Shark Vacuum NV356E: Similarities

The similarity between Kenmore Intuition vs Shark Vacuum NV356E is in their maneuverability. Both of the vacuums have the same nice cord length of 30 ft and swivel head for easy steering the vacuum around. Besides, their canisters are detachable for carrying on stairs or provide more versatility for cleaning above-floor areas like ceilings, tops of the wardrobes, and curtains or blinds.
