Jimmy H9 Pro vs Dyson V12: This is a battle between Jimmy’s most powerful stick vacuum and Dyson’s newest one. So which one is your true love? My short answer is the second one!
It can be said that the Dyson V12 Detect Slim is a smaller and more compact version of the V15 – The Dyson’s current smartest and most powerful stick vacuum. That said, it is smaller, lighter, and a bit cheaper, but it still has the latest punches like “Laser Detection” technology and piezo sensor. As a trade-off, it is less powerful, and its dustbin is smaller. So it is ideal for elderly people, but if you’ve got a large house, look for the runner-up.
You may have never heard of Jimmy since it’s a new brand. But I’d like to tell you that they have hit the vacuum cleaner market with some high-quality floor care devices, including the Jimmy H9 Pro, that are neck and neck with many high-end models out there. So once they hit the lucrative Western market, I believe they’ll give behemoths like Dyson a run for their money.

Jimmy H9 Pro Vs Dyson V12: Differences
Jimmy H9 Pro and Dyson V12 went head-to-head and tied with a 2-2 score. Let me show you the pros and cons of each!
Cleaning Performance
Winner: Dyson V12
Suction Power And Floorhead
The Dyson V12 peaks at 150 AW at its highest power setting, significantly lower than the Dyson V15 (230 AW) and even the V11 (185 AW). Meanwhile, the Jimmy H9 Pro gives me a big “Wow” with its 200 AW maximum power, which puts it on the top end of the suction power spectrum. Still knowing that suction isn’t the sole factor in determining how well a vacuum performs, the H9 Pro’s crazy suction really raised my eyebrows.
Both the Jimmy H9 Pro vs Dyson V12 basically come out of the box with a soft roller (just for hard floors) and a standard roller (best for carpets). But instead of just swapping out the entire floorhead like with the Dyson V12, the H9 Pro requires detaching the roller from a single cleaning head and putting the other in.
Hard Floor
Along with the Laser Slim Fluffy floorhead (soft roller head), the Dyson V12 performed brilliantly on my hard floor. This one could handle all debris types, including large ones, without any visible stuff left behind after the forward pass.
I was also thoroughly satisfied by how the Jimmy H9 Pro is effective on this surface type. Almost all, if not all, of the debris I dropped on the floor was picked up without a second pass. 100% satisfaction!
Carpet
The Jimmy H9, with the standard roller, had impressive cleaning performance on my low-pile carpet, effortlessly collecting all debris. However, when faced with my high-pile, thicker carpet, this one encountered difficulties and failed to remove all debris, particularly those deeply embedded.
As for the Dyson V12, it did a better job with the Motorbar floorhead. On my low-pile carpet, it picked up the debris of all sizes with ease, but there was still a small amount of fine debris on the high carpet after the first pass. But with an extra pass, my carpet was spotlessly clean.
Hair Test
The Jimmy H9 Pro vs Dyson V12 are both real panacea for pet owners who daily have to deal with the mess their four-legged friends leave behind. Whether on carpet or hard floor, they could easily pick up all hair/fur with the proper nozzle. Better yet, just a small amount of long hair has stayed on their roller, proving they effectively combated the hair wrap issue.
I also found that the H9 Pro’s electric mattress head and Dyson V12’s hair screw tool did a great job of collecting hair and sending them straight into the dustbin. They are essentially smaller motorized cleaning heads engineered to clean upholstery, mattresses, stairs, and other smaller spaces.

Attachments & Storage
Jimmy H9 Pro | Dyson V12 |

Among the models I’ve tested, the Jimmy H9 Pro stands out as one of the few models that include a self-standing storage station. It doesn’t require to be screwed to the wall and can hold all the accessories contained in the box. But unlike the Samsung Jet 90‘s Z station, it doesn’t have a charging slot for the spare battery (which needs to be purchased separately). So if you want to have two batteries charged at the same time, you will need to put the extra one on the included battery holder.
Like all the Dyson cord-free vacuums, the Dyson V12 includes a wall-mounted station. Once it is screwed into a wall near an outlet, it will be a neater spot to charge the vacuum and store two attachments. There’s also a wand clip that can carry two other tools – I put the combination and crevice tools here just because they are the most used. But if you say no to drilling and piercing your wall, you have the option of plugging the charger directly into the battery (since the charging port is on the battery, not on the handheld part) and putting the vacuum and all the attachments into a safe place, such as a cupboard. If you’re into something like Jimmy H9’s charging stand, consider spending bucks on a self-standing charging station for Dyson vacuums.
Weight & Maneuverability
Instead of a traditional handle design, the H9 Pro is crafted with an upper handle structure. It allows the user’s muscles to be relaxed the entire time, and my experience personally showed that it isn’t an exaggeration – those with weak hands will definitely make a chef’s kiss to this fancy design. I could clean for a long time without feeling any strain or burden on my hand/wrist. This one would be much lighter if configured into a handheld vacuum, ideal for removing disgusting clusters of cobwebs from ceilings.
As mentioned above, the Dyson V12 is really a Dyson V15 but lighter and more compact. So maneuvering this model and carrying it up and down the stairs was a pain-free task for me. It can also be used as a portable handheld vacuum, allowing for effortless access to hard-to-reach areas.
The Dyson V12 has the capability to lie completely flat on the ground. Along with low-profile floorheads, it can easily get under furniture, including low-clearance ones – but I had to bend over to do this. The H9 Pro, on the other hand, takes the lead with the bendable wand. This creative design allowed me to handle these areas without crouching down, reminding me of MultiFlex of the Shark Stratos technology. So if you’re an old man or a guy with a bad back, you’ll be better off with this one.
Battery Life
The Jimmy H9 Pro vs Dyson V12 are stated can be run continuously for 80 and 60 minutes, respectively, but don’t let these fascinating parameters mislead you. The quoted maximum battery life only comes true when the vacuum is used on the lowest power setting with the non-motorized tool attached. After all, the main nozzle is what we use most of the time:
Jimmy H9 Pro | Dyson V12 | |
---|---|---|
Maximum Battery Life | ≈ 64 mins | ≈ 41 mins |
Minimum Battery Life | ≈ 17 mins | ≈ 12 mins |
Charging Time | ≈ 4.5 hours | ≈ 4 hours |
The Dyson V12 includes a removable click-in battery. So if you want a longer run time, you can simply purchase a second battery. With two batteries in hand, you can work with an installed battery and have a spare one charged and swap them out when needed.
The battery life of the Jimmy H9 Pro is truly remarkable, catering to the demands of numerous families. However, for individuals residing in extra-large homes, it would still be advisable to consider purchasing an additional battery. However, due to its lack of popularity in the US market, acquiring a backup battery for this one remains rather challenging.
Dustbin & Filtration System
Winner: Jimmy H9 Pro
As mentioned earlier, the Dyson V12’s more compact and lightweight design comes with a trade-off, which is a smaller dust canister. A smaller dustbin means it needs to be emptied more frequently, which prolongs your vacuuming session and increases the risk of allergen exposure. Not good at all! Fortunately, emptying it is a straightforward process: remove the wand/attachment, hold the top portion over a trash can, and push down a red level to release all the contents. I found myself having to make a few backward-and-forward moves to let everything go and sometimes remove clumps of hair by hand.
The Jimmy H9 dust cup is a bit larger, and it can be disassembled and emptied easily. But the process left me with dirty fingers since I had to open a release latch on the hatch to empty the dust cup. Moreover, I had to poke around a bit to get any hair and debris that got caught due to the cyclone’s position.
Are you aware of the essential factor contributing to making a vacuum cleaner allergy-friendly? The answer is a sealed system and a HEPA-level filter. The HEPA-level filter can keep almost all dirt and allergens inside the vacuum, while the sealed system ensures all vacuumed things can’t get out before being caught by the filter. Thankfully, this magical combination is available on both Jimmy H9 Pro vs Dyson V12!
Utilities
Winner: Dyson V12
User Interface
The Dyson V12’s LCD handy screen is on the top and shows how much battery is left, which mode is used, the current particle intake, and filter warnings. Nowadays, no other vacuum cleaner besides the V12 and V15 offers such a wealth of information. I was impressed with how it displayed collected dust particles by number and size via a bar chart. Despite the fact that many people consider it a superfluous feature, it was very helpful to me as it told me when I should spend more time cleaning a particular area.
Another thing that makes the Dyson V12 stand out among earlier Dyson models is that it uses an on/off physical button rather than a traditional trigger. This improvement is certainly a plus since it helps cut down on hand fatigue, and personally, I like it. But it would be better if this button was somewhere my thumb or thumb could reach so I wouldn’t need to use my other hand. There is a button on the screen button used to select the desired power mode.
The H9 Pro also has a high-definition LED screen but is more simplified: it only shows battery life in percentage and the mode selected. This one has no trigger as well – there are two keys positioned near its display. Just simply press the power button to activate the vacuum – it will run until you do another press – and another button is used to switch between modes.
Cleaning Mode
The H9 Pro includes four modes: eco, turbo, and auto, max, while the Dyson V12 has three: eco, auto, and boost. As you can see, what they have in common is auto mode, where they can adapt their suction according to the amount of dirt detected by their sensors. This feature is exceptionally impressive, and I highly recommend utilizing it when tackling carpet cleaning tasks.
Headlights
Headlights should be a must-have for a stick vacuum since it makes cleaning under furniture easier and ensures nothing is left behind. Sadly, many models, even the exorbitantly expensive ones like the Samsung Bespoke Jet or LG Cordzero, lack this feature.
Jimmy H9 Pro’s nozzle has no headlights at all. Meanwhile, only the Dyson V12’s Laser Slim Fluffy head is equipped with a small green laser called “Laser Detect” technology. I found this laser did a great job of making dust and dirt more visible and wished the Dyson V12’s Motorbar cleaner head were also equipped with this technology.
