Samsung has touched the hearts of millions worldwide over the past decade with many cutting-edge home appliances. In fact, all my televisions and washing machines come from this brand. So I was wondering if their cordless vacuums would do the same thing. With that in mind, I compared the Samsung Jet 90 vs Dyson V11 Outsize and got a tie.
The Dyson V11 Outsize still upholds the exceptional qualities of the V11 Torque Drive. Still, it goes one step further with a wider floorhead, a large dust bin, and two included batteries, making it ideal for effortlessly cleaning expansive residences. On the downside, it is quite heavy and exorbitantly expensive.
The Samsung Jet 90, on the other hand, is also an interesting option. It comes with a wide range of attachments, and the most interesting part is the Z station, which can stand on its own and charge two batteries simultaneously. Combined with an included “Cleaning Station,” emptying the dust cup is hands-free and very easy.
Jet 90 Vs Dyson V11 Outsize: Comparison Chart
Jet 90 Vs Dyson V11 Outsize: Differences
I declare this competition to be a draw. A full comparison of their specifications and features is here. So let’s get into the details!
Cleaning Performance
Winner: Samsung Jet 90
Suction Power & Floorhead
The Jet 90 is on the top end of the suction spectrum with a maximum suction power of 200 AW, which is between the Jet 70 (150 AW) and the Bespoke Jet (210 AW). The Dyson V11 Outsize, on the other hand, blew my mind with its 220-AW max suction, which is greater than any other Dyson V11 version. At the moment, it’s just behind the Dyson V15.
The V11 Outsize features a 12.6-inch High Torque floorhead, which is 25% wider than the V11 Torque Drive’s nozzle. A wider cleaning head is “Jekyll and Hyde.” Why do I say that? Isn’t the wider the nozzle, the faster you can get the cleaning job done? You’re right, but the chunkier floorhead makes it harder to get in and out of tight areas!
On the flip side, the Jet 90 comes out of the box with two floorheads: a turbo action brush and a soft action brush, which helped the vacuum pass all my tests with excellent scores (more on this later).
Hard Floor
On my hard floor, the V11 Outsize removed about 95% of the total debris in a single pass with ease. It picked up almost all small and medium debris and pushed a small amount of large debris forward, resulting in another pass to pick up everything. These aren’t perfect results, but they are great, and they could be better with a soft roller cleaner head.
The Jet 90, along with a soft action brush, proved to be the optimal choice to clean this surface type with remarkable efficacy – all kinds of debris were picked up easily.
Carpet
The V11 Outsize was very powerful in Boost mode, so it sucked too hard on my carpets, making it challenging to maneuver and struggling to capture all the large debris. So then I had to switch to auto mode, and the vacuum didn’t leave a single grain behind.
On my low carpet, the Jet 90 picked up almost all medium-to-large debris (99%) but was less effective on smaller debris (88%). It got slightly better scores on my high carpet, with approximately 97% of the debris picked up easily. When I shut off the vacuum, its cleaning head spat out a tiny amount of small debris, which is negligible at all.
Attachments & Storage
Winner: Tie

The Dyson V11 Outsize includes a wall station that can be mounted to your wall. Every time you dock it at this wall charging station, it will get charged automatically. If drilling into your wall is not a viable option or not desired, just remove the battery and plug the charger directly into it while conveniently storing the vacuum in a cupboard. Like its siblings, it comes with a storage clip that allows you to store two attachments on board.
On the other hand, charging and storing the Jet 90 relies on a self-standing charging station. It is cleverly designed in the shape of a “Z,” which is why it is called a Z charging station. It doesn’t come fully pre-assembled, but you can do it yourself easily and swiftly.
For those who want to steer clear of drilling into walls, like me, this impressive charging station is a great solution. It provides an organized spot to store the vacuum and two attachments. Better yet, it can charge two batteries at the same time because there is a slot specifically designed to accommodate the second battery. On the downside, this complex tower takes up quite a bit of space and doesn’t have room for all the fittings.
Weight & Maneuverability
Now is the time to talk about the biggest con of the Dyson V11 Outsize: weighing about 7.8 lbs, this model is a hefty and chunky boy. It’s almost a pound heavier than the Torque Drive version, and I felt that added weight clearly when holding it up above my head to reach the top surfaces. In the handheld configuration, it is still quite heavy, and working with it is quite like a 5-pound dumbbell exercise.
But for vacuuming the floor (with the main nozzle attached), this won’t be a big deal since the floorhead helps balance the vacuum’s weight. Maneuvering it is very easy, thanks to the rotating head.
The Jet 90 tips the scales at 6.87 pounds, a bit heavier than older Jet vacuums. It felt very comfortable in my hand, and it was easy to maneuver on the floor. But I also ended up with a tired hand after cleaning high areas for a long time since it is top-heavy.
Both the Jet 90 vs Dyson V11 Outsize easily got further under all my low-clearance tables, but thanks to the flexible tool, I could do it easier with the Jet 90 since I didn’t have to bend over. This particular aspect, no doubt, is of utmost importance for individuals dealing with back or hip discomfort.
Battery Life (With The Main Nozzle Attached)
Samsung Jet 90 | Dyson V11 Outsize | |
---|---|---|
Minimum Battery Life | ≈ 10 mins | ≈ 19 mins |
Maximum Battery Life | ≈ 42 mins | ≈ 84 mins |
Charging Time | ≈ 3.6 hours | ≈ 4 hours |
The Dyson V11 uses a click-in battery that can be easily removed by pressing a click-in button. With the two included batteries, you can easily replace the dead battery with the spare one. Furthermore, the purchase includes two chargers, enabling both batteries to be charged simultaneously, eliminating downtime, and ensuring uninterrupted vacuuming sessions.
The Samsung Jet 90 also uses a removable battery. Just one battery is included, so it is worth considering acquiring an additional battery separately to extend the device’s runtime. This makes sense for folks in vast residences since it ensures a longer cleaning session without interruption. As previously mentioned, the charging station features a charging port for an additional battery, enabling the simultaneous charging of two batteries.
Dust Cup & Filtration System
Winner: Tie
The V11 Outsize’s main selling point is its huge dust cup. It has a capacity of 1.9 liters, which is 1.5 times larger than the V11 Torque Drive’s 0.76-liter dustbin, making it an attractive option for homeowners with mammoth-sized houses. As for the emptying process, the mechanism remains unaltered – remove the tube or any attachment from the handheld unit, point it at garbage, and push the lever down to eject all the collected dirt.
The Jet 90 features a 0.8 dust cup, but emptying it is a bit awkward. But the included Clean Station makes up for that. And I asked myself if Samsung engineers made the dust cup emptying process harder to increase sales by selling this station. Anyway, this smart tower is really a savior for people with severe allergies because it prevents dust and allergens from spreading around. The only gripe is that it is quite chunky and noisy when operating.
Guess what folks with severe allergies typically expect from a vacuum? This is a sealed system with a HEPA filter. Fortunately, the Dyson V11 has both. The filter can capture up to 99.7% of dust particles as small as 0.3 microns. Meanwhile, the sealed system ensures that all allergens and dust remain contained within the unit. The filter is housed in the back of the handheld unit and should be washed frequently under tap water to maintain the vacuum’s peak performance.
Jet 90’s filtration system is claimed to capture 99.999% of microdust. The cyclone and micro-filter are washable and should be rinsed regularly. The HEPA exhaust filter, on the other hand, can’t be washed with water – just gently tap or knock it into the trash to get rid of the accumulated debris.
Utilities
Winner: Dyson V11 Outsize
Digital Screen
The Dyson V11 has a high-tech LCD screen, which shows the remaining runtime, the current vacuuming mode, warning errors, and valuable tips (e.g., regarding maintenance). The Jet 90 also has an eye-catching LED display on the top of the handheld unit, which indicates the power setting used and gives alerts when the floorhead is blocked, or the filter needs maintenance.
Power Modes
The Jet 90 has four modes: three vacuuming modes (Min, Med, and Max) and one mopping mode (Wet). The wet mode will be enabled when you connect the Jet 90 with a mopping attachment.
As for the Dyson V11, it has three modes: eco, auto, and boost. In auto mode, the dynamic load sensor inside the floorhead can automatically recognize the surface type and adjust the vacuum’s suction accordingly. It will convert to med setting if you use one of the attachments.
Control Method
The V11 Outsize features a trigger, which needs to be pressed the whole time when it’s in use. This will stop the unit from running when you release the trigger, which conserves the battery. I initially considered it a plus, but in hindsight, I found it very inconvenient since it tired my hands. There is a button on the LCD screen used to choose the desired mode.
The Jet 90, on the other hand, has several physical buttons that are used to turn the vacuum on/off and switch toggle settings. All the buttons are easy to reach with my thumb, and I didn’t need to use my second hand.
