Samsung may be widely known for its large appliances, such as washing machines, televisions, and refrigerators, but this tech behemoth has also hit the market with some floor care appliances, such as the Jet 90 Premium. Today, I’m going to compare it with the Dyson V11 Torque Drive, one of Dyson’s best-selling models, to see how well Samsung is doing in this niche. So Jet 90 Premium vs Dyson V11, which one is better?
The Samsung Jet 90 Premium is on the expensive side of the cordless vacuum market and is on par with many premium cordless vacuums, and I’d like to say it’s worth the price. It boasts a smart docking station that allows it to stand upright and charge two batteries simultaneously. Combined with the clean station, which makes emptying the dust cup simple and hygienic, it will give you a satisfying vacuuming and dust disposal experience.
The Dyson V11 was once the brand’s most powerful model before being dethroned by the Dyson V15. At the moment, it still wins the hearts of many people since it delivers features and performance that not many manufacturers can provide. Of course, it’s also on the upper end of the price spectrum, making it less appealing to those on a tight budget.
Jet 90 Premium Vs Dyson V11: Comparison Chart
Jet 90 Premium Vs Dyson V11: Differences
Jet 90 Premium wins 2-1 and ties once against the Dyson V11. Both work great on all types of surfaces – But the Jet 90 works better on hard floors, while Dyson V11 is ideal for pet owners thanks to its anti-tangle technology. The V11 ‘s auto mode can adjust suction automatically based on the surface type detected. The Jet 90, on the other hand, is more ergonomically pleasing and comes with a self-standing charging station – no wall drilling is required.
Cleaning Performance
Winner: Tie
Suction Power & Floorhead
The Jet 90’s max suction is 200 AW, which is a little bit greater than the Jet 60 or Jet 70. Is it Samsung’s top-tier stick vacuum? No – this honor goes to Samsung Bespoke Jet. The Dyson V11 is also very powerful, with a max suction of 185 AW, but the Dyson V15 is the best-of-line model that maxes out at 230 AW.
The Dyson V11 comes with a floorhead called the High Torque cleaner head. Unlike its predecessors, this cleaner head is equipped with anti-tangle technology and features two adjustable gates.
The Jet 90 Premium, on the other hand, comes out of the box with two cleaning heads. The soft brush is better suited for hard floors and is great at capturing smaller debris and dust. The Turbo Action Brush has stiff bristles that are very good at digging up dust and dirt from carpets.
Hard Floor
The Dyson V11 achieved flawless scores across the board – almost all the debris was captured in the first pass (about 97%, I guess). It tended to splash a small amount of debris to the side, and I had to fully open two gates on the nozzle and wiggle the vacuum to pick up the large debris.
On the other hand, there was really nothing the Jet 90 couldn’t handle on this type of surface. Combined with powerful suction, the well-built soft roller could pick up all kinds of debris.
Carpet
The Dyson V11 performed exceptionally well at cleaning up the debris of all sizes from my low-pile carpet. With the Boost mode enabled, this powerhouse left practically no large debris behind but could not pick up all the fine debris. On the high carpet, the amount of debris left behind after the first pass is a bit more, but the vacuum can pick up everything after the second pass.
On my low-pile carpet, the Jet 90 also delivered one of the best performances I have seen to date – about 99% of debris of all sizes was easily removed. I found it a bit harder to push the vacuum on my high-pile carpet, and it also left behind more debris, resulting in extra passes.
Hair Test
Both the Jet 90 Premium vs Dyson V11 easily removed all pet hair/fur on the floor and deeply embedded in carpets. But, as mentioned above, the Dyson V11’s High Torque head is equipped with anti-twist technology (a comb behind the roller), which could send almost all the vacuumed hair into the dustbin. As for the Jet 90, I had to spend minutes untangling its roller brush at the end of the day.

Attachments & Storage

Both the Jet 90 Premium vs Dyson V11 aren’t balanced enough to stand on their own like the Miele Triflex HX1, so they need to be leaned against a wall or parked in their charging station for storage.
One of the best parts of the Jet 90 Premium is that it comes with a self-standing charging station called Z Station (if you ask me about the name, it looks like a Z if fully assembled). This complex unit has a slick, space-age-inspired look and makes charging/storage of the vacuum and its attachments very easy.
The Z Station has a spot to charge a spare battery, meaning it can give two batteries a charge at the same time. It only has room for two attachments, so I had to find another place to store the rest of the attachments and the powered head when not attached to the vacuum.
And unlike the Dyson V11 and many other vacuums, the Jet 90 features a telescopic wand with four level lengths. At its longest length, the vacuum is roughly equal to the full length of its predecessors, which helped me reach the high areas easier. When its wand fully collapses, it can fit neatly into the charging stands for compact storage.
As for the Dyson V11, it comes with a wall-mounted station, and I found installing it a bit complicated, although it didn’t require special technical skills. The good news is that drilling into your wall to install the mount to charge the battery is unnecessary since the battery can be charged independently. So if you are uncomfortable with drilling into the wall like me, you can find a suitable place to put the vacuum and just plug the battery into the docking station to charge it.
Weight & Maneuverability
Weighing 6.2 and 6.7 pounds, respectively, the Jet 90 Premium vs Dyson V11 weren’t heavy at all and felt very comfortable in my hands, thanks in part to their comfortable handles. They are top-heavy, but with the wand and main nozzle attached, most of the overall weight moved down on the floor and reduced the weight in my hand. As I embarked on the task of cleaning the ceilings, a weariness began to settle in me since most of the vacuum’s weight now rested solely on my hands.
Maneuvering these machines on the floor and around tight furniture was also easy for me owing to the swivel head. They can lie flat on the ground completely to go further under furniture with minimal clearance. However, as I found myself hunched over to accomplish this task, that’s when I realized how amazing the Shark IZ462H‘s Multi-Flex technology is.
Battery Life
Jet 90 Premium | Dyson V11 | |
---|---|---|
Minimum Battery Life | ≈10 mins | ≈ 9 min |
Maximum Battery Life | ≈42 mins | ≈ 76 min |
Charge Time | ≈3.6 hours | ≈4 hours |
Unlike earlier Dyson models that featured built-in batteries, the Dyson V11 uses a removable click-in Lithium-Ion battery, so it is easy to detach the battery from the handheld unit and charge it separately. If you live in a spacious house, I strongly suggest considering spending a little extra to get an additional battery. This way, you won’t have to worry about running out of battery before you get your vacuuming task done.
Likewise, the Jet 90 also uses a removable battery, and the spare battery also needs to be purchased separately if necessary. Swapping batteries is very effortless and quick, and the inclusion of a charging port for the second battery on the Z station proves to be quite practical and convenient. Say goodbye to downtime and hello to uninterrupted cleaning sessions with two fully charged batteries!
Dustbin & Filtration System
Winner: Jet 90 Premium
The Dyson V11 features a 0.75-liter dust cup, which is positioned at the front. It is designed for effortless and rapid emptying with just a simple maneuver: remove the wand or any attachments from the handheld unit and push down on a lever. That way, I could quickly return to my cleaning tasks without any delays or hassle. Occasionally, I found it necessary to reach inside the dust cup and remove hair clumps near the top, which is common for folks with longer strands.
The Jet 90’s dust canister sits parallel to the wand and is quite large at 0.8 liters. The larger dust bin means you can continue cleaning for longer periods without emptying it as frequently. Unfortunately, emptying it is “Heath Robinson-esque” – I had to completely detach it from the vacuum and remove the cyclone assembly to empty it, which left my hands somewhat dirty in most cases.
The good news is that you don’t have to experience the inconvenience mentioned earlier, as the Jet 90 Premium comes with a “Clean Station,” which is designed to simplify the emptying process. All you need to do is detach the dust cup from the unit, open the lid of this station, and place the cup on top. It only takes a few seconds for this smart tower to suck all the dust and dirt out of the dustbin and transfer it to a disposable bag.
You will need to replace this single-use bag with a new one (which can be bought on Amazon) after a few emptying cycles. There’s also a HEPA filter inside the Clean Station, which should be rinsed frequently with water.
The Dyson V11 boasts a washable HEPA filter positioned at the rear, along with a sealed system that prevents even the tiniest particles from being released back into the air. This combination, no doubt, can maintain cleaner and healthier environments inside your home.
The Jet 90 is also allergy-friendly as it boasts a multi-layered filtration system, which is claimed by Samsung to capture 99.999% of microdust. This system includes a cyclone, micro-filter, and ultra-fine (HEPA) filter. The first two, along with the dust cup, are washable and need to be rinsed monthly. Re-attaching wet filters is a big no-no, so ensure everything is completely dry before reuse. As for the HEPA filter, it is recommended to periodically tap it gently on the side of a trash can to remove accumulated dirt.
Utilities
Winner: Dyson V11
Power Mode
The Jet 90 includes three vacuuming modes min, mid, and max, and I found a fourth “wet” mode that is activated once the wet-mopping attachment is attached. Is this part worth it? This part is a nice-to-have feature but, in my opinion, cannot fully replace a dedicated mop.
The Dyson V11, on the other hand, has three power modes: eco, auto, and boost. The auto mode is really the icing on the cake: it allows the vacuum to adjust suction automatically based on the surface type detected by an advanced sensor. But, unlike the Tineco Pure One S12, this sensor is inside the High Torque cleaner head, so if it is replaced by an attachment, this mode will change to “med.”
Digital Screen
The V11 is the first Dyson cordless stick vacuum that has a built-in LCD screen (except the V11 Animal version). This nifty screen brought to mind a game console, and I found it very handy. It told me how many minutes were left before the installed battery died and which cleaning mode I was in. Better yet, it reminded me every time the filter needed to be cleaned or was installed incorrectly.
There is also a hi-tech LED panel on top of the Jet 90’s handheld vacuum, which shows the power mode selected, indicates the brush used, and alerts you whenever the pipe gets stuck. The shortcoming of this eye-catching screen is that it doesn’t tell you how long the vacuum can run before running out of juice. Instead, three LED lights on the battery itself display the battery life.
Control Method
I had to keep the trigger down continuously to power the Dyson V11. It is expected to be for energy efficiency since once this trigger is released, the vacuum will stop running immediately. It should be a plus, but pressing the trigger for too long made my hands very tired. So it becomes a drawback common to many Dyson stick vacuums.
As for the Jet 90, all controls rely on physical buttons, which are quite ergonomically pleasing. With effortless dexterity, my thumb could effortlessly reach them.
