Invictus X9 Vs Dyson V11: Having meticulously evaluated numerous crucial factors, I’ve concluded that the scales tip in favor of the second one.

The Dyson V11 (Torque Drive) has excellent performance on both carpets and hard floors. It comes with a wide range of attachments, a large dustbin, and, better yet, a fully sealed filtration system.

I must admit, the Invictus X9 truly shines on hard floors, and that’s the only aspect I can genuinely praise about this model. It has mediocre performance on carpets, a small dustbin, and a relatively short battery life.

Invictus X9 Vs Dyson V11: Differences

The Dyson V11 outscores the Invictus X9 with a notable score of 3-1. For more details on the comparison between these two models, continue scrolling down to explore!

Design & Usability

The Invictus X9 is ingeniously designed to stand upright independently. So you can leave it freestanding in the middle of a room when you need to attend to something else mid-clean, without the need for propping it against a wall. That is great, but I would say that a slight nudge is enough to knock it over to the floor because of its top-heavy nature. So I recommend leaning it against the wall or hooking it on the mount when not in use. My only gripe is the absence of onboard storage for any attachments.

The Dyson V11, on the other hand, can’t stand upright on its own. It comes out of the box with a wall mount holding the vacuum and two attachments. Moreover, the wand storage clip facilitates onboard storage for two attachments, ensuring your most frequently used tools are always within arm’s reach during vacuuming sessions.

Weight &  Maneuverability

The Invictus X9 and the Dyson V11 are almost neck and neck in terms of weight, with the former weighing around 6.61 pounds and the latter just a tad heavier at 6.7 pounds. They share a 180° swivel head, making getting in and out of tight areas a breeze.

Maneuvering each one up and down my stairs came easily to me without breaking into a sweat or experiencing muscle discomfort. But this task could prove more daunting for those who are less physically robust. These 2-in-1 machines can be used as portable handheld vacuums, ideal for cleaning hard-to-reach areas. However, while addressing overhead areas, where the bulk of the unit’s weight is on my hands, I experienced a swift onset of hand fatigue, necessitating a few hand changes.

Cleaning under furniture was a walk in the park since these vacuums could lie entirely flat against the floor. My sole criticism lies in the Dyson V11’s lack of headlights, which could inadvertently lead to overlooked dust and debris in poorly lit areas.

Battery Life

As per the manufacturer’s assertions, the Invictus X9 boasts a battery lifespan of 35 minutes, contrasting with the Dyson V11’s touted full hour of continuous operation. However, in practical application, I discovered that both failed to reach these advertised runtimes when employed with the primary nozzle:

Invictus X9Dyson V11
Minimum Battery Life≈ 6 mins≈ 9 mins
Maximum Battery Life≈ 29 mins≈ 48 mins
Charge Time≈ 3 hours≈ 4 hours

The Invictus X9’s battery life is not too impressive, but it uses a replaceable battery. This implies that its operational duration could potentially be doubled by simply swapping out a depleted battery for a fully charged one, given the availability of an extra battery. Depending on your chosen package, you’ll get one or two batteries straight out of the box, and the spare one can be purchased separately if desired.

Similarly, the Dyson V11 utilizes a click-in battery system designed for effortless removal and replacement. Despite its commendable battery longevity, I would still advocate securing an additional battery. This precaution ensures that my vacuuming sessions are not interrupted in any way.

The batteries of both machines can be recharged independently without the unit. That said, you can remove the battery from the vacuum and plug the charger straight into it.

Cleaning Performance

Winner: Dyson V11

Floorhead

The Invictus X9 only comes with the motorized 3-in-1 king brush, which is essentially a soft roller head, and my tests showed that it works fine only on hard floors. On the other hand, the Dyson V11 comes with a multi-surface floorhead called the High Torque cleaner head.

Hard Floor

Large DebrisSmall Debris
Invictus X9100%100%
Dyson V1198%100%

Like any other soft-roller-equipped model, the Invictus X9 earned high scores across the board. This one easily picked up 100% of the total debris in a single pass. Likewise, the Dyson V11 also performed excellently on this type of surface, but I  had to fully open both gates on its nozzle to deal with larger debris.

Carpet

High-Pile Carpet: 62%High-Pile Carpet: 52%
Dyson V11Low-Pile Carpet: 98%Low-Pile Carpet: 99%
High-Pile Carpet: 98%High-Pile Carpet: 96%

As I mentioned earlier, the Invictus X9 is equipped with a soft roller intended for hard floors, so it’s hardly a shock that its performance on carpets was subpar. On the other hand, the Dyson V11 still blew my mind with its superb performance – the majority of the debris was easily collected.

Dustbin & Filtration System

Winner: Dyson V11

The Invictus X9 boasts a dustbin with a 0.4-liter capacity, significantly smaller than the Dyson V11’s more voluminous 0.75-liter canister. The smaller the dustbin, the more frequently it needs to be emptied, potentially extending the total time spent on vacuuming tasks.

Emptying the Invictus X9’s canister is easy with the push of a release button. However, the button is very close to the trap door, so my fingers weren’t spared from getting a bit grimy. On the other hand, emptying the Dyson V11 is more hygienic with the no-touching mechanism: all I need to do is push a lever down, and all the contents will be ejected straight down to the trash can. Both can be completely removed for thorough cleaning.

Regarding the filtration system, the Dyson V11 boasts a fully sealed system. To my mind, a system like this is a must-have for a high-end vacuum – it guarantees that all the dirt and allergens in the vacuumed air are unable to escape prior to being trapped by the filter. Its filter is HEPA-level and washable. You should wash it under the tap whenever you receive a maintenance alert from the LCD display. It will take about one day for the filter to dry completely, so I recommend buying an extra filter so you always have a ready-to-use one.

The Invictus X9 also utilizes a sealed filtration system that incorporates a washable pre-motor filter and a non-washable post-motor HEPA filter. The pre-filter can be washed with water once it becomes dirty. As for the post-filter, you’ll need to give it a gentle tap to dislodge all the accumulated dirt.

Utilities & Other Features

User Interface & Control Method

In the world of stick vacuums, the presence of always a digital display is a valuable bonus. And while the Invictus X9 has no display, the Dyson V11 takes the lead with a functional LCD screen. This one shows battery life as a countdown timer and what power mode the vacuum is in (eco, auto, or boost). In addition, it alerts users to any blockages at the roller and whether the filter requires cleaning or has been improperly installed.

Both the Invictus X9 vs Dyson V11 are equipped with a power trigger, but the former gains an edge with its added trigger lock feature. It allows you to keep the trigger in place and negates the necessity of constant finger pressure. That way, your hand remains relaxed throughout the vacuuming session, promoting extended usage with optimal comfort.

Auto Mode

When auto mode is activated, the Dyson V11 can automatically fine-tune its suction power to match the specific surface being cleaned. This is a really useful feature, especially for those who don’t want to switch back and forth between power modes manually during vacuuming. I’ve noticed an increasing number of brands implementing this same feature in their products.

Headlights

The floorhead of the Invictus X9 features some helpful LED bulbs, serving as my great companions when tackling dimly lit spaces like underneath furniture or areas beyond the reach of ceiling lights. Sadly, the Dyson V11 lacks this nifty feature.
