In the debate of which product is better, Hoover Windtunnel 2 vs Bissell Cleanview, this article is my personal opinion. Hope it will be useful to you. For a quick answer, the winner is Hoover Windtunnel 2.

The Windtunnel 2 won my favor thanks to its powerful suction on hard floors and carpets. Its HEPA filter is a great choice for those who have allergies. In addition, it also comes with many other utilities, such as an automatic rewind cord, brushroll on/off switch, and nozzle height adjustment.

Our runner-up, Bissell Cleanview, is a good choice for pet owners. I was impressed with its ability to pick up pet hair on various surfaces, especially on low-pile carpets. Besides, the machine is fairly lightweight, so it is easy to move it around.

Hoover Windtunnel 2 vs Bissell Cleanview: Differences

After testing both machines, I found Hoover Windtunnel 2 wins 2:1 and ties 1 against Bissell Cleanview. To me, they are both good bagless upright vacuums with excellent cleaning power. Below is an analysis of the differences between them as well as the pros and cons of each machine.

cleaning PERFormance

Tie

Compatible Floor Type

On hard floors, the cleaning ability of the two machines is almost equal. They have almost no trouble cleaning pet hair or even small debris like rice. When dealing with large crumbs, such as Cheerios cereal, you must pass the vacuum several times until it sucks up all the messes. However, because it doesn’t have a brushroll on/off switch function like the Windtunnel 2, the Bissell Cleanview 2254 tends to push debris around, and it can take several times for the machine to capture this debris fully.

Bissell 2254 performs better than Windtunnel 2 on low-pile carpets. It sucks up pet hair on my carpet with ease. Although it was a bit hard to pick up the large debris, it still picked up almost all of the dirt in the end. However, on high pile carpet, this machine struggles quite a bit to pick up all the dirt and debris that can get trapped in the soft spot.

Meanwhile, Hoover Windtunnel 2 performed better than Bissell 2254 on high-pile carpets. It works better with large debris scattered on this type of surface and picks up most of the pet hair present on the carpet.

Pet Hair Performance

Since it’s designed specifically for pet owners, it’s no surprise that the Bissell Cleanview 2254 cleans pet hair more effectively than the Hoover Windtunnel 2. The 2254 hardly struggles to clean pet hair on different types of surfaces. Meanwhile, the Windtunnel 2 takes quite a while to collect all the pet hair on low-pile carpets and will occasionally get hair stuck on the brushroll.

Dirt bin & filtration

The winner: Hoover Windtunnel 2

Dirt Bin

Both machines are bagless upright vacuum cleaners. The dirt that is sucked into the machine passes through the filter and is stored in the dust cup. The larger the dirt container, the more dirt it can hold, and it requires less emptying. Regarding dust capacity, the Windtunnel 2 has a larger capacity than Bissell 2254.

Both machines have a dust cup made of clear plastic and have a transparent indicator line to let you know when the tank is full. The dust compartment is also very easy to disassemble and clean. With a touch, you can open the dust container cover from below and the dirt will be released. With Bissell 2254, you can clean the cyclone cylinder with warm water and mild detergent but remember to let it dry for 24 hours before using it again.

Filtration

Hoover Windtunnel 2 wins this time thanks to its HEPA filtration system. This machine has two filters. The first one is on top of the dirt bin, and you can wash it with warm water and mild detergent. This is where the air is coming up through the cyclone. The second one is the HEPA filter, and you can’t wash it. This is the post-motor filter, which is located below the dirt compartment. It is recommended to replace it once a year.

As a big fan of HEPA filtration, I think this filter system works really well. You don’t blast the house with dust when you use this device to vacuum. If you are an allergy sufferer, then I highly recommend that you consider this machine.

Bissell Cleanview 2254 doesn’t have a HEPA filter, so its filtering ability is not very good. The machine consists of two pre-engine filters, one carbon, and one powder. They all need to be replaced every six months, depending on how often you use your vacuum. Although it is advertised by the manufacturer as having the ability to reduce odors, from what I have experienced, I am not sure that you will not smell anything while vacuuming. So if you need a bagless upright vacuum with good filtration, then the 2254 is not my first choice.

Design & convenience

The winner: Bissell Cleanview

Build Quality

Both machines have a common build quality. Most of their parts are made of plastic, and the overall look is not very sturdy. But in return, they are both easy to assemble and can stay upright on their own.

In terms of size, the Hoover Windtunnel 2 is more compact than the Bissell 2254, while in terms of weight, the 2254 is lighter. But overall, they are all quite lightweight and easy for portability.

One thing in both machines that I quite like is the head adjustment dial. If my old vacuum cleaner often has difficulty moving on high-pile carpets or sucking up large debris since I can’t adjust the height of the nozzle, with these two machines, I can do these jobs with 5 levels of height adjustment.

Maneuverability

To me, the maneuverability of both these machines is just average. They have a power cord long enough to clean up in a large room without changing the outlet. However, the hose of the Bissell Cleanview 2254 is quite short, so the operating range is still limited. Besides, its brushroll also cannot switch on and off as desired, so it can scratch your floor. In the meantime, the Windtunnel 2 does not have a swivel head, so moving the machine is also limited.

In addition, the cleaning heads of both devices are quite large, so to clean furniture, you need to use crevice tools or turbo brushes. I mean, you will need to switch between different tools to clean the furniture in the house, and the brush can even get stuck on the carpet. In my opinion, these machines are more suitable for open spaces than places with a lot of furniture.

Noise Level

Frankly, both machines are noisier than average, but from what I’ve measured, the Bissell Cleanview 2254 is quieter than the Hoover Windtunnel 2.

Specifically, the noise level of the 2254 is about 83 dB, while that of the Windtunnel 2 is at 87 dB. With such a noise level, you can barely hear the TV or radio while vacuuming. If you are exposed to this type of sound for more than 40 hours a week, it can affect your hearing.

utilities

The winner: Hoover Windtunnel 2

A common utility of these two machines that I quite like is the automatic cord rewind. With this feature, the power cord will automatically retract after each use at the touch of a button, and you don’t need to rewind it manually.

In addition, the Windtunnel 2 also has a brushroll on/off switch feature. You can turn on the brushroll to deep-clean carpets and gently switch it off to clean bare floors. The effect of this feature is to help protect the floor from scratches and limit debris scattering around while vacuuming.
