Finding the difference between two products that have so many similarities is really a difficult thing. I was also in the same situation when trying to find a winner between Hoover MAXLife Pro Pet Swivel vs Hoover Pet Max Complete. Ultimately, I conclude that Pet Max Complete wins out.
Hoover MAXLife Pet Max Complete has won my heart with its powerful performance on various surfaces, such as low-pile carpets, medium-pile carpets, high-pile carpets, hardwood floors, and more. Besides, it also has a HEPA carbon filter and an impressive XL-size dust container capacity.
Hoover MAXLife Pro Pet Swivel is no less competitive. It has a smart design with LED lights on the front, and the nozzle can be rotated independently. It is also great at deep cleaning carpet surfaces.

Hoover MAXLife Pro Pet Swivel vs Hoover Pet Max Complete: Differences
After examining the differences between the two machines, I conclude Hoover MAXLife Pet Max Complete wins 2:0 and ties 1 against Hoover MAXLife Pro Pet Complete thanks to its cleaning performance, huge dirt cup, and convenient design. Read the breakdown below to learn more details.
cleaning performance
The winner: Hoover MAXLife Pet Max Complete
Performance on hard floors
The Pro Pet Swivel and Pet Max Complete work pretty great on hard floors.
The Pet Max Complete can pick up dirt and small debris with just a wipe. It has an anti-scatter seal located just behind the brush roll on the underside of the vacuum cleaner, which helps keep dirt in the brush roll area while vacuuming on hard floors. Thanks to that, the debris will not be thrown around before they are sucked in.
The Hoover MAXLife Pro Pet Swivel also has the same ability. However, after vacuuming, I noticed that there was some dirt stuck in the cleaner head. Thus, you need to lift the machine to let the remaining dirt fall out and suck it up again.
Performance on carpets
These two machines share the brush roll on/off switch feature and I really appreciate this. Normally, the brush is turned on when cleaning carpets and off when cleaning floors. I recommend you turn on the brush when vacuuming the carpet to make it easier to pick up pet hair.
Besides, with the Pet Max Complete, the machine has 4 nozzle height settings, and you can manually adjust the height with a lever on the cleaner head. This feature helps the vacuum cleaner work better on a variety of surfaces. It works best for deep cleaning carpets, in my opinion. It picks up everything on the carpet while having little or no dust blown back.
The Pro Pet Swivel also performed really well when sucking up small and medium debris on carpets. However, moving it on a high-pile carpet will be a bit more difficult because the machine cannot adjust the height manually. That also explains why picking up Goldfish cereal is quite a struggle. But rest assured, with such large debris, you can use the wand to help.
Pet hair performance
I appreciate the Pet Max Complete’s ability to pick up pet hair. It picks up all pet hair on the carpet and sofa in my living room. It sucks so well that I had to keep emptying the canister after 5 minutes even though its dust container capacity is XL (2.5 liters).
Meanwhile, the Pet Pro Swivel did not perform as well as I expected. It’s still okay, but there was quite a bit of hair still left on the carpet. During vacuuming, the machine also blew some pet hair out. It also cannot clean hair on low-pile carpets with just a wipe. But fortunately, after checking, I noticed that there were no hairs stuck on the brush. From my point of view, this machine scores seven out of ten for cleaning pet hair on carpets.
dirt bin & filtration
The winner: Hoover MAXLife Pet Max Complete
Dirt bin
The dirt tank of these two machines is bottom empty and easy to empty.
The dust cup of the Pet Pro Swivel has a capacity of 1.5 liters. This is a good size – it’s not too small, and you shouldn’t find yourself having to empty it too often.
The dust cup of the Pet Max Complete has a capacity of 2.5 liters, which is the size that few upright vacuums in this price range have. This advantage lets you clean longer before needing to empty the dirt cup.
Filtration
In general, these two machines have the same filter system structure. They have a pre-motor filter and a post-motor filter. The pre-motor filter is located below the dust container, which is quite common on many different upright vacuum cleaners (you can check out my other reviews if you want to learn more). Please). This type can be washed with water when getting dirt, dried for at least 24 hours, and then you can continue to use them. Hoover recommends users clean this filter every 4-6 uses. However, in my opinion, this depends on each person’s frequency and level of use.
The post-motor filter is designed to remove allergens from the air. This filter is a HEPA type, capable of removing up to 99.97% of airborne particles with a size of 0.3 micrometers or greater. It is really good at removing pollen, pet dander, mold spores, dust mites, etc., from the air. Therefore, it is very trusted by users with allergies or asthma.
Besides, this filter also has a carbon layer to help absorb odors. For pet owners, this feature is definitely a useful utility. Note, however, that this filter is not washable and is generally advised to be replaced yearly. When this filter is dirty, you can temporarily solve it by gently tapping to remove excess dust particles.
design & convenience
Tie
Build quality
First, they are about the same size and the same weight, but the Hoover MAXLife Pro Pet Swivel is a bit more compact. Although they’re mostly made of plastic, they look pretty solid overall.
Although they are quite heavy for the average weight of an upright vacuum cleaner, the D-handle design feels lighter than it really is and is very easy to use. In addition, in my opinion, their 17 pounds weight also supports the ability to deep clean carpets more effectively.
Besides, this couple is super easy to assemble out of the box, even if you don’t read the directions. You only need to snap the handle on until it clicks. The attachments also store on-board and stay there.
Maneuverability
In this aspect, each machine has its own advantages and disadvantages. As I mentioned above, the Pet Max Complete allows users to manually adjust the nozzle height to move the machine on many different types of surfaces easily. In contrast, the automatic height adjustment feature of the Pet Pro Swivel is not very effective, combined with the heavyweight, making the machine more difficult to navigate.
The Pet Max Complete, on the other hand, does not have swivel steering, so the cleaner head does not pivot independently. Meanwhile, the Pro Pet Swivel is equipped with this function so that the machine moves more flexibly in places with many corners and furniture.
Regarding cleaning reach, the Pet Max Complete has the upper hand. It has a longer hose and cleaning path than the competition, so its operating range is also wider. Its power cord is 27 feet long, not too long but enough for you to vacuum a large room without changing the outlet.
Noise Level
To be frank, the duo is quite noisy, and their noise levels are almost the same. If you are looking for a vacuum cleaner that is both lightweight and low-noise, these two machines are not my first choice.
However, on the positive side, although they are noisy, they are not to the point of making me feel uncomfortable every time I use them. And since you only use them for a short period of the day and not too often, this noise level won’t affect your hearing.
