Hoover Linx Vs ONEPWR Emerge: Head-2-Head Showndown – Which Is More Versatile?

I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post. Read more

In the Hoover Linx vs ONEPWR Emerge showdown, my final evaluation is that the more versatile pick is the Hoover ONEPWR Emerge. However, I would recommend the standard Hoover Linx for a tight budget.

The Hoover ONEPWR Emerge offers greater versatility in cleaning performance because it has LED headlights and good cleaning tools while being easily converted to a handheld vacuum. It also has relatively stronger suction for better pick-up efficiency.

Apart from that, the Hoover Linx and ONEPWR Emerge have self-standing features, making them convenient for storing without drilling holes in walls. Besides, they can work decently on the carpet and bare floors, picking up small and even larger debris thanks to the gate centered at the floorhead’s bottom. However, they are prone to hair clogging as their brush rolls are not designed with a self-cleaning function.

Hoover Linx vs ONEPWR Emerge: Differences

The Hoover ONEPWR Emerge wins 2-0 against the Hoover Linx in terms of cleaning performance and utility. In other categories, including design & convenience and dust cup & filtration systems, the Linx and ONEPWR Emerge tied.

Cleaning performance

Winner: Hoover ONEPWR Emerge

I found out that the Hoover ONEPWR Emerge has greater suction than the Hoover Linx because it gave a better result in the test of cleaning embedded sand in the carpets. The Hoover Linx’s pick-up efficiency percentage was at about 78%, while that of the ONEPWR Emerge stayed around 90%.

Such data indicate that these two cordless vacuums can be used for cleaning carpeted and bare floors. Indeed, both the Hoover ONEPWR Emerge and Linx work okay on low carpets and rugs. On thick and shaggy carpets, their brush rolls often stop spinning as the carpet fibers get caught around the rollers.

Besides, their performance on hard/bare floors is pretty good, as the small and fine debris is easily collected in one pass. With larger debris, either the Hoover Linx or ONEPWR Emerge can be able to pick up all, though it needs a little swivel of the cleaner heads. This can be attributed to the gate centered at the floorhead’s bottom.

If you want to improve the cleaning efficiency on the bare floor, especially in picking up large debris like cheerios, having a floorhead with a soft roller can help significantly. In this case, the  Emerge Pet can be a good candidate as its ALL-TERRAIN cleaner head comprises a soft roller and a traditional bristle roller.

I tried this Emerge Pet version, I’m impressed with how it easily collects fine to large debris particles on the tiled floor. It also creates a good seal on the floor, allowing me to clean most of the sand in floor crevices in one forward pass.

However, this ALL-TERRAIN cleaner head is not good on carpets because it cannot remove all cat litter on my low-pile carpet even I use the highest suction setting. In this test, the Hoover Emerge performed a better result. So, if your house is covered with mostly bare floors, you can consider getting the Hoover Emerge Pet. Meanwhile, if your house is mostly carpeted or mixed between carpets and hard floors, the standard Hoover Emerge model is more suitable.

If you plan to get the Hoover ONEPWR Emerge/Pet or the Hoover Linx to deal with the large volume of hair, you should consider another product. In my experience, they often stop running because the hair gets tangled on the brush roll, though they can decently remove the hair from carpets and floors. The reason is that these vacuums do not have a self-cleaning brush roll, meaning that they are prone to hair clogging and require frequent brush-roll maintenance.

Dust bin & Filtration

Tie!

The dust cups of the Hoover Linx and ONEPWR Emerege have a capacity of about 0.5 and 0.4 liters, respectively. For me, such numbers are enough for one light cleaning circle. Besides, their dust cups are easy to empty and dissemble for cleaning.

Their filtration systems are just the basic ones with washable foam filters. They do not feature a HEPA filter and complete seal technology. Therefore, both the Hoover Linx and ONEPWR Emerge are not appropriate products for people who are sensitive to dust and suffer from asthma.

For the cordless vacuum in the price range below $300 featuring HEPA filters, I would recommend the Tineco A11 Hero. For the hygienic way to empty the dust bin, I think the clean station of the Samsung Jet vacuum line would be a good choice. The bundle of Samsung Jet 70 and clean station seems to be an affordable pick.

Design & Convenience

Tie!

Maneuverability

On paper, the Hoover ONEPWR Emerge is lighter than the Hoover Linx. However, like many other stick vacuums, the ONEPWR Emerge is top-heavy, with a weight at the handle of around 4.3 lbs. This can put lots of strain on the arm and get it tired quickly. Meanwhile, the Hoover Linx’s weight at the handle is about 1.64 lbs, so it is more comfortable when holding the Hoover Linx in long cleaning sessions.

However, the ONEPWR Emerge outperforms the Hoover Linx in terms of reaching under furniture. The compact design of the ONEPWR Emerge allows it to lie flat on the ground without getting the cleaner head lifted. As a result, it is easier to access tight spaces. Additionally, the ONEPWR Emerge is convertible to the handheld form, making it ideal for cleaning upholstery or the car’s interiors. The Hoover Linx, on the other hand, does not have such features.

Battery

The Hoover Linx and ONEPWR Emerge all have removable batteries, so you can purchase an extra battery to use consecutively for the longer cleaning runtime. Though the brand claims that the maximum runtime of the Hoover Linx and ONEPWR Emerge can reach 35 mins and 45 mins, respectively, their actual runtime is shorter.

On low power, the actual max runtime of the Hoover Linx and ONEPWR Emerge is 23 mins and 32 mins, respectively. When used with high power, either ONEPWR Emerge or Hoover Linx operates for about 12 mins. As I mainly use these vacuums for quick daily cleaning, such runtimes are enough for me.

Noise level & Storing

The Hoover ONEPWR Emerge is louder than the Hoover Linx. Its noise level is around 78-80 dB, while that of the Hoover Linx is about 77 dB when measured at high power with the brush roll on. So, I have to raise my voice when I want to talk with my friend during my cleaning time.

Besides, both of them can stand on their own in the upright position. This, for me, is very convenient for storage because I don’t need to drill holes in my wall to hang the vacuum.

Utility

Winner: Hoover ONEPWR Emerge

Headlights

The Hoover ONEPWR Emerge has bright LED headlights, while the Hoover Linx doesn’t. When cleaning bare floors, having bright LED headlights on the cleaner heads is very useful as they illuminate the dark areas, showing hidden dust that often goes unnoticed by the naked eye. As a result, the cleaning effectiveness can be improved and more satisfying.

Attachments

The ONEPWR Emerge has two cleaning tools, including a 2-in-1 Dusting Brush, which is a combination of a dusting brush and a crevice tool, and an Upholstery Tool. With such tools, I can clean the above-floor surfaces like tables, blinds, sofas, etc., with the ONEPWR Emerge easily.

On the flip side, the Hoover Linx does not come with any additional accessories for above-floor cleaning tasks. Consequently, its usage is limited to cleaning floors and stairs.

Moreover, the cleaning attachments provided with the Hoover ONEPWR Emerge can differ based on the specific model you select. You can look at the table below for reference, as in this table, I’ve listed the current models of Hoover ONEPWR Emerge along with their respective attachments.
