The Eureka Powerspeed vs Shark Navigator are two of the best-selling vacuum cleaner series from two of the biggest names in the industry. In this review, I will mention two typical models from these series, which are the Eureka Powerspeed NEU280 and the Shark NV360, respectively.

The Shark NV360 is the winner, though it and its competitor have comparable vacuuming performance. It has better maneuverability thanks to its swivel steering and rotating head. In addition, it features a HEPA filter and Lift-Away Technology.

On the other hand, the Eureka Powerspeed NEU280 has a larger dust cup, features a wider cleaning path, and operates quieter.

Eureka Powerspeed Vs Shark Navigator: Differences

The Eureka NEU280 wins (4-3) against the Shark NV 360. It has better maneuverability, is equipped with a HEPA filter, and is more convenient thanks to Lift-Away technology. Better yet, it comes with a longer warranty.

Cleaning Performance

The winner: The Shark Navigator

Maneuverability

While Eureka Powerspeed rolls quite smoothly with its wheels, it is a bit hard to maneuver as its head cannot rotate. It can be a little tricky to clean under sofas or tables due to its bulky body and dirt cup. Thankfully, you can use the machine in its semi-handheld configuration to reach those areas easier.

The Shark NV360 has a swivel steering and rotating head to offer better maneuverability. This model can turn 90 degrees or lie parallel to the ground. Still, its body is quite bulky, making it harder to fit in tight areas or slide under chairs and tables.

Cleaning Tests

  • Hard floors

The Eureka Powerspeed is good for use on bare floors. It has practically no problems vacuuming pet hair and does a great job sucking up small debris. Unfortunately, its performance will get worse as its dirt cup fills up, and it struggles a bit with larger debris like cereal.

The Shark NV360 also has good performance on bare floors. It can pick up small debris like rice without a problem, but it has difficulty with bulky debris like cereal and pet hair. I’m glad its suction performance remains consistent as the dustbin fills up.

  • Low Pile Carpet

The Eureka Powerspeed delivers good performance on low-pile carpets. It can vacuum pet hair easily and does an excellent job with fine debris like baking soda. However, it has more trouble picking up larger debris like sand.

The Shark NV360 is a great option on this surface. It can remove pet hair as easy as a piece of cake and clear the majority of both fine debris and larger material. It generally outperforms its opponent in this category, although you might need to make an extra pass to suck up everything.

  • High Pile Carpet

The Eureka Powerspeed is excellent on high-pile carpets. It does a great job clearing larger materials and works well with fine debris. What’s more, it picks up pet hair without issue.

The Shark Navigator also has impressive performance on high-pile carpets. It can easily pick up pet hair and the majority of fine and large debris, but you may need to make an extra pass or two to fully suck up some types of debris.

Filtration

The winner: The Shark Navigator

It is safe to say that HEPA Filtration is the industry standard for upright vacuum cleaners. It can remove up to 99.97% of the particles from the air. They can be viruses, bacteria, allergens, dust, chemical compounds, and many more. The HEPA filtration allows you to live comfortably amid urine odor, dander, pollen, and other allergens.

The Shark Navigator NV360 is fitted with this amazing filter, while the Eureka Powerspeed NEU280 is not. This model features the Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology, ensuring no trapped dirt sneaks out of the dust tank. This technology is especially useful for allergy sufferers.

Dust Cup

The winner: The Eureka Powerspeed

While the Shark NV360 and the Eureka Powerspeed NEU280 have the same overall size, their clear dirt bins are quite apart regarding capacity.

The Eureka Powerspeed features a 1.9L-capacity dust tank, ensuring you go for a long time before having to empty it. On the other hand, the Shark NV360 has a 1.32-L bin, which is easy to empty and wash.

If there’s something that always rings true, you never go wrong with the bigger dirt bin, which is especially true if you have a lot of dirt to remove. So I give the winning ticket to the Eureka NEU280.

Noise

The winner: The Eureka Powerspeed

Carpet76.4 dBA72.3 dBA

Both Eureka Powerspeed vs Shark Navigator are significantly quieter than many of the models I’ve tested. In my experience, they are not too loud to disturb others around, and even quiet enough not to wake your whole family up in the morning. But, anyway, the Eureka Powerspeed is a bit quieter, so it wins this category.

Utilities

The winner: The Shark Navigator

Semi-Handheld Mode

The Shark Navigator features Lift-Away Technology, allowing it to be transformed into a semi-handheld vacuum in the blink of an eye. This nifty feature will come in handy when you need to vacuum stairs and hard-to-reach areas.

Simply put, you can transform this 2-in-1 cleaner into a canister to reach the ceiling, the stairs, the above-high places, and more. Transforming it is not a kind of pain, and all you need to do is press the button on the control panel, and voila.

You can also use the Eureka Powerspeed in its semi-handheld configuration with tools and accessories attached, and the handle can be used as a semi-handheld extension wand. But you have to carry its main body during the vacuuming process, which is a bit annoying.

Cleaning Head

The winner: The Eureka Powerspeed

As we all know, the wider the cleaning head, the faster you will be able to get your vacuuming job done.

The Shark Navigator NV360 features an 11.4-inch cleaning head, and there is a motorized brushroll inside it, which works efficiently on both bare floors and carpets.

On the other hand, the Eureka Powerspeed comes with a 12.6-inch cleaning head. Under the hood, it has an ordinary bristled brush that can loosen, lift, and remove dirt and debris.

Warranty and Aftersales

The winner: The Shark Navigator

Another important consideration when choosing upright vacuums is the warranty and aftersales service.

Regarding warranties, Shark promises a five-year warranty on all their products, and the Shark Navigator is no exception. This agreement is quite generous, but there are lots of complications with it. Some users have revealed that this brand isn’t so honest, so ensure your chosen machine has no problems. Conversely, the Eureka Powerspeed comes with a 2-year limited manufacturer warranty.

Both Shark and Eureka have plenty of resources regarding the usage of their machines. Regarding the availability of parts, replacement parts are available at affordable prices. Whether you want brushroll, filters, components, or attachments, you will find them in plenty on the manufacturer’s website and other retailers, such as Amazon.

Eureka Powerspeed Vs Shark Navigator: Similarities

Power Cord Length

Eureka Powerspeed vs Shark Navigator share a 25 ft power cord. In my opinion, 25 feet is long enough to vacuum large areas without changing the outlet frequently.

Build Quality

These machines have mediocre build quality. They have a mainly plastic construction, and their bodies look and feel somewhat flimsy. But many users have reported that these machines can last up to six years.
