Electrolux Pure F9 Vs Dyson V11: High-End Vacuum Showdown

After conducting several comparisons between the Electrolux Pure F9 vs Dyson V11, it appeared that the second one was slightly better.

The Dyson V11 marks a significant milestone in the Dyson stick vacuum series since it boasts some notable enhancements over its predecessors, including the addition of an LCD display and the incorporation of Dynamic Load Sensor (DLS) technology. Of course, they are really useful instead of just there to make this model exorbitantly expensive. While it’s no longer Dyson’s most powerful and smartest model, it’s still a “chef’s kiss.”

The Electrolux Pure F9 originates from a brand not widely known in the vacuum cleaner realm, but it has some one-of-a-kind features that other brands, including big ones like Dyson, don’t provide. This model features an adjustable telescopic wand and the flexibility to reposition its dustbin, allowing optimal adaptation to various cleaning scenarios. Also, it has the look of a futuristic machine!

Electrolux Pure F9 Vs Dyson V11: Differences

At the end of the day, the Dyson V11 wins 2-0 and has two draws against the Pure F9. The Dyson V11 has better overall cleaning performance and is more pet-friendly, while the Pure F9 is more flexible thanks to Flexlift tech (3-in-1 design).

Cleaning Performance

Winner: Dyson V11

Suction Power & Floorhead

Upon its release, the Dyson V11 emerged as the most potent Dyson stick vacuum, boasting a maximum suction power of 185 AW. Even though this mantle now belongs to the Dyson V15, the V11 remains one of the most powerful cordless models on the market. On the other hand, Electrolux hasn’t specified the suction power of the Pure F9 in AW, but my testing revealed it to be incredibly potent, potentially on par with the Dyson V11.

Let’s talk about the included cleaning head. The Pure F9 comes out of the box with a multi-surface floorhead, which is equipped with a row of LED bulbs to simplify and efficiently clean under furniture and in dimly lit areas. The Dyson V11 includes a “High Torque” floorhead, which is equipped with de-tangling technology and is also designed to function effectively across all surface types.

Electrolux Pure F9 vs Dyson V11’s floorheads

Hard Floor

Both the Electrolux Pure F9 vs Dyson V11 easily picked up all fine and small debris in the first pass, but the larger ones are what set them apart.

The Electrolux Pure F9 just pushed a large amount of particularly large debris like cereal and fruit rings around instead of picking them up because the gap between its floorhead’s front lip and the floor wasn’t high enough to sweep over them. The Dyson V11 could handle this type of debris much easier, provided two gates on its nozzle were fully open, and I had to wiggle the vacuum a bit.

Carpet

When tested on my low-pile carpet, the Electrolux Pure F9 efficiently eliminated all large debris and approximately 98% of small to medium-sized debris in its initial pass, then it picked up the rest without hassle in the backward pass. Similar results were observed on the high-pile carpet, where this one left behind a bit more fine debris while all the large debris was still picked up.

The Dyson V11, on the other hand, successfully removed 100% of total debris of all sizes without making an extra pass on the low carpet. On my high-pile carpet, it only left behind roughly 1-2% of fine debris, which was effortlessly gathered during the subsequent pass.

Hair Test

If you’re living with some four-legged friends, you’ll be better off with the Dyson V11 since, as mentioned above, its High Torque cleaner head is equipped with anti-tangle technology. Looking closely behind the brush roller, you’ll see a row of small fangs called polycarbonate teeth. This special “comb” is engineered to prevent hair from entangling around the roller.

Electrolux Pure F9 Vs Dyson V11’s attachments

The Dyson V11’s arsenal of attachments clearly exceeds the Electrolux Pure F9’s in quantity, offering greater flexibility for various cleaning scenarios. But the Pure F9’s included UV bed nozzle deserves a notable mention for its fancy design and usefulness.

This extra head employs UV rays to kill bacteria during the vacuuming process. There is a small button to turn the UV light on and off manually. It also has a built-in sensor so that whenever this nozzle is lifted off the floor, the UV light will automatically turn off to safeguard the user’s health. This one has no wheels at all, so I had to use a bit of muscle to push it.

With the dustbin positioned closer to the floorhead, the Pure F9 can stand vertically on its own like an upright, so you can leave it on the floor to do other jobs while vacuuming. Its docking station doesn’t require to be anchored to the wall and can be placed anywhere on the floor. Its only Achilles’ heel? A lack of space for all the attachments.

The Dyson V11, on the other hand, comes with a wall-mounted charging station. It provides a safe and organized spot for the vacuum and two attachments, so I also needed to keep the rest in a nearby cupboard.

Weight & Maneuverability

The Dyson V11 tips the scales at just a smidge over 6.7 lbs, and it felt very comfortable in my hand. Flip the Dyson V11 into the handheld mode, and it’s even more lightweight, but I couldn’t clean the ceiling for more than 15 minutes since the mammoth-sized dustbin up top might make it a bit top-heavy. It can lie completely flat to go further under furniture, but there’s no headlight to help detect what’s there.

The Electrolux Pure F9 is slightly heavier at 7.2 lbs. This one is a badass model with a telescopic wand and can be used in three different configurations, depending on where its dustbin is found. This makes it look like the Miele Triflex HX2, but I didn’t need to disassemble the entire vacuum and then assemble it again. I could get it done with the push of a button and a few up or down motions, thanks to the Flexlift feature.

Electrolux Pure F9’s three configurations

With the dustbin on top and the wand fully extended, the Pure F9 acts as a traditional stick vacuum. In this configuration, it could easily get under all my low-clearance tables but felt top-heavy.

By repositioning the dust canister closer to the floorhead, the Pure F9 looks like a slim upright vacuum and can stand in a vertical position independently. Maneuvering this model was also easier since most of the vacuum’s weight went down to the ground instead of being placed in my hands.

Finally, the Pure F9 can be used as a handheld vacuum with an attachment attached, which is ideal for cleaning hard-to-reach or top areas. But here’s the big con – the wand isn’t detachable, so don’t expect a major weight reduction. There is a handle on the dust cup, which makes cleaning the ceiling less tiring – Just imagine how you hold a chainsaw.

Battery Life

I tested both with the main nozzle attached and obtained the following results:

Electrolux Pure F9Dyson V11
Maximum Battery Life ≈ 51 mins≈ 54 mins
Minximum Battery Life≈ 17 mins≈ 9 mins
Charging Time≈ 6 hours≈ 4 hours

The Dyson V11 uses a click-in battery that can be easily removed and charged independently. So if you’ve got two batteries in your arsenal (the spare one needs to be purchased separately), you can vacuum with one and leave the other charged on the docking station (or plug the charger directly into it). That way, you’re never left with a powerless vacuum.

On the flip side, the Pure F9 uses a built-in battery, so you won’t be able to extend its runtime by swapping batteries as you would with the Dyson model. All you can do is keep your fingers crossed that the machine doesn’t run out of juice before you get your cleaning task done.

Dust Cup & Filtration System

Winner: Tie

The Pure F9 vacuum features a conveniently sized 0.7-liter dustbin, which is slightly smaller than the 0.75-liter dust cup of the Dyson V11.

Emptying the Pure F9’s dustbin is as simple as two steps: disassemble the cup completely, hold it with one hand, and use the other hand to open a latch to open the bottom door. However, I found my hands prone to getting dusty during this process.

Meanwhile, emptying the Dyson V11’s dust tank is easier and more hygienic – just grab a lever and perform up-and-down movements until all the contents are ejected straight down the trash can.

The Electrolux Pure F9 is claimed to have a 5-step filtration system that can trap up to 99.9% of dirt, including microscopic dust particles from 0.3 to 2.5 micrometers in size. The filter is conveniently located at the bottom of the dust cup and is washable.

The Dyson V11 is, to my mind, more allergy-friendly since it combines a completely sealed system with a HEPA-grade filter. Together, they ensure 99.99% of dirt and allergens are trapped inside the unit. The filter is located at the top of the handheld part and should be rinsed under the tap whenever the LCD screen gives a message.

Utilities

Winner: Tie

User Interface & Control Method

The Pure F9 isn’t equipped with any fancy or high-tech screens. Instead, it just has some LED indicators that show battery life and the current power level. However, these indicators are positioned in a somewhat inconvenient manner. Instead of lying somewhere for easy monitoring while vacuuming, it is located in front of the canister, which may require additional effort to check out the status.

There are three buttons on the Pure F9’s handle: one to turn the vacuum on and off, one to adjust its suction manually, and one to activate the auto mode (called Auto Function technology).

Electrolux Pure F9 vs Dyson V11’s user interfaces

The Dyson V11, on the other hand, is the first Dyson stick equipped with an LED screen (except for the V11 Animal version). The presence of this screen goes beyond mere aesthetics or the illusion of luxury – it is really handy. It shows the current battery life in minutes (which I believe is more accurate as a percentage) and the power mode the vacuum is in. In addition, it alerts the user when something is wrong, such as when the filter isn’t installed properly or needs maintenance.

Like the older Dysons, the Dyson V11 still requires continuous pressure on a pistol-like trigger to keep the vacuum running. This design aims to optimize battery life, but it can lead to hand fatigue and wrist strain during prolonged cleaning sessions. To switch between modes, just press a button on the screen.

Power Mode

The Dyson V11 has three power modes: eco, auto, and boost. There is a sensor (named Dynamic Load Sensor) inside its main nozzle that can detect the surface you are trying to clean and automatically adjust the vacuum’s suction accordingly. So, if you use an attachment instead of the floorhead, it morphs into “med” mod, producing a constant mid-range suction.

Likewise, in addition to the three basic cleaning modes, the Pure F9 can also be used in auto mode, which also adjusts suction according to the type of surface.

Headlights

One thing that the Pure F9 has over the Dyson V11 is that there are some small LED lights on its main nozzle, giving it an edge when cleaning in dark or poorly lit areas.
