In the comparison of the Dyson V12 vs Samsung Jet 60, both products are lightweight and versatile, making them good selections for multi-surface cleaning. Yet, the Dyson V12 is relatively better than the Samsung Jet 60.
The Dyson V12 Slim is better because of its dust sensor, laser light, longer battery life, and better performance in picking up bigger debris like dog kibbles. Besides, it is more appropriate for pet hairs thanks to the detangling rollers. However, the V12 Slim has a pretty small dust cup, and the price is approximately double that of the Jet 60.
The Samsung Jet 60 Flex is a lightweight stick vacuum working great for quick cleaning, at a more affordable price. It is compatible with a clean station (sold separately), which I think is a great option for people who hate facing dust clouds when emptying the dust cups. It is good at picking up dirt and pet hairs but not at bigger and non-flat things like little rocks and fruit loops. Besides, its battery life is okay, shorter than that of the Dyson V12.
Dyson V12 Vs Samsung Jet 60: Comparison Chart
Dyson V12 Vs Samsung Jet 60: Differences
I have compared the Dyson V12 vs Samsung Jet 60 in four primary categories, and the Dyson V12 Slim wins 3-0 against the Samsung Jet 60. The categories that I considered Dyson V12 to have better performance include cleaning performance, design and convenience, and utility. Meanwhile, for the dust cup and filtration, I gave a draw.
Cleaning performance
Winner: Dyson V12 Slim
Based on the specifications, the Dyson V12 Slim and Samsung Jet 60 are supposed to have the equivalent suction power of 150 air watts. Such a suction number is really strong and sufficient for picking up nearly almost every dry dust and debris on the floor and carpet.
After the performance tests on bare floors and carpets, I leaned over the Dyson V12 Slim as it gave relatively better cleaning results than the Samsung Jet 60 Flex and other variants in the same series. So, let’s get down to the cleaning efficiency of the Dyson V12 Slim and Samsung Jet 60 Flex.
Carpets
Like the majority of stick vacuums, both Jet 60 and Dyson V12 work well on carpets with different thicknesses. They can pull up hair and small debris. However, they are good for quick cleaning rather than deep cleaning, especially for high-pile carpets.
I think it is because their cleaner heads are lightweight, thus, it is difficult for the brush bristles to go deep into the base of carpets to loosen dirt. Thus, compared to the upright vacuum cleaners, the Dyson V12 and Samsung Jet 60 are more appropriate for daily carpet cleaning.
Bare floors
The Dyson V12 Slim outperforms the Samsung Jet 60 in the test of pick-up efficiency on bare floors. Particularly, the Dyson V12 Slim can effectively pick up not only small debris but also larger things like large-pile of powder, fruit loops, and dog kibbles.
Meanwhile, the Jet 60 can suck in pet hair and dirt on floors and around my area rugs, but it pushes the large fruit loops and dog kibbles around. So, in my experience, the Jet 60 is not designed for picking up larger things. This is also one of the reasons making me decide to choose the Dyson V12 Slim as the winner of this round.
Pet hair
If you’re looking for a stick vacuum to deal with a significant amount of pet hair, I would recommend the Dyson V12 Slim. The Jet 60 performs good results in the pet hair pick-up test, but I prefer the Dyson V12 because of its motorbar cleaner head featuring the anti-hair wrap design.
For me, the self-detangling mechanism on the motorbar cleaner head of the Dyson V12 is considerably useful for promoting cleaning efficiency. It not only makes the brush-roll maintenance easier but also helps prevent clogging issues leading to suction loss.
Design & Convenience
Winner: Dyson V12 Slim
Maneuverability & controls
Both Dyson V12 and Samsung Jet 60 weigh less than 6 lbs, which is very lightweight. Therefore, maneuvering them on different surfaces is very easy. In addition, I can get the Samsung Jet 60 and Dyson V12 under beds and other furniture easily without twisting them in an awkward way. This is thanks to their low-profile cleaner heads.
Moreover, the Dyson V12 has a significant modification in the power control, changing from a holding trigger to a single-push button, which is quite similar to that of the Samsung Jet 60. In my experience, this change makes handling the vacuum more comfortable because it reduces the stress put on my finger and palm caused by holding the trigger during the long cleaning time and allows me to easily swap hands without interrupting the suction power.
Noise level
In terms of the noise these vacuums make when vacuuming, I feel that the Samsung Jet 60 is relatively quieter than the Dyson V12, especially in the max suction mode. When vacuuming with the Dyson V12, I noticed that my cat got scared often and ran away, but with the Jet 60, it seemed more comfortable. But in general, they are not too noisy like some upright vacuum products and totally bearable.
Battery
In terms of battery life, I gave the estimated runtime charging time of each vacuum in the table below for reference.
From that table, you can know that the winner is the Dyson V12 Slim because of its longer runtime, allowing more surfaces and corners to be tackled in one cleaning session. Besides, the 20-min runtime in the medium mode of the Jet 60 is enough for me to clean carpeted stairs and small areas in my home. So, I can say that the Jet 60 is more suitable for short-time-interval cleaning.
Samsung Jet 60 | Dyson V12 Slim | |
---|---|---|
Runtime | Min: ~ 40 mins Mid: ~ 20 mins Max: ~ 5 mins | Eco: 51 – 73 mins Auto & Med: 30 – 45 mins Boost: 5 – 8 mins |
Charging time | 3.5 hours | 4 hours |
Dust bin & Filtration
Tie!
The dust bin of the Dyson V12 Slim has a smaller capacity than the Samsung Jet 60, which contributes to reducing the weight of the whole vacuum. Besides, the dust cups of Samsung Jet 60 and Dyson V12 are easy to detach and clean. Remember to let the parts dry completely before assembling.
Moreover, the Samsung Jet 60 is compatible with the clean station, offering a more hygienic way to clean the dust cup. It is because the clean station will get all the content in the dust cup out into the dust bags with a touch of a button. Therefore, there is no hassle of dust clouds, and I do not have my hand touch dirt to dump the dust cup. However, using the clean station will cost you more as you have to purchase replacement dust bags periodically.
The filtration systems of both Samsung Jet 60 and Dyson V12 are efficient for filtering large to micro dust particles, making the air released fresh to reduce allergic problems. Particularly, their filtration systems are completely sealed HEPA filtration with the ability to filter up to 99.9% of microdust. So, I believe either of them is a good option for people suffering from asthma or allergies.
Utility
Winner: Dyson V12 Slim
Laser light
The laser light on the fluffy cleaner head of the Dyson V12 is very useful in improving the cleaning experience on bare floors. Meanwhile, with the price at around 200-300$, I expected the Jet 60 to have LED headlights, but it doesn’t.
As you may know, LED/laser lights allow users to easily see the dust on floors so that they can clean them effectively. When I use my Dyson V12 in my kitchen, I am very pleased with the results as the laser light vividly reveals all the powder and small seasoning particles scattering on the floor. That’s why I chose the Dyson V12 as the winner for this round.
Intelligent dust sensor & LCD screen
The dust sensor in the Dyson V12 is very unique, making it stand out as the top-notch stick vacuum line in the market. The dust sensor contributes to optimizing the cleaning performance as it counts the dust particle sizes and densities to modify the suction power, depending on the cleaning surfaces.
The LCD screen is also a plus that makes the Dyson V12 a winner of this category. The screen shows the runtime countdown in each mode and the amount of dust collected. However, unlike other Samsung Jet series, the Jet 60 Flex does not feature a digital display.
For some users, the LCD screen or digital display is not that important for a vacuum, but I still find it useful and convenient as I can know how clean my home environment is and when I should get my vac charged to ensure no interruption for the next use.
Attachments
I will choose the Dyson V12 over the Samsung Jet 60 Flex if the attachment set is a critical factor for me. The Dyson V12 has more attachments than the Jet 60 Flex. Besides, the hair screw tool of Dyson V12 is very effective for cleaning pet hairs on sofas and couches.
The attachments of the Dyson V12 and Samsung Jet 60 will be different depending on the variant you select. I have researched and listed the accessories of each variant of V12 and Jet 60 in the following tables. If you come across other variants of them, please let me know in the comment so that I can update this post. Thank you!
