Can you guess the winner of the debate Dyson V12 vs Philips 8000? Comparing 2 vacuums, especially mid-end ones with advanced technologies isn’t an easy task. So let me do that for you! I have been testing these models for a few weeks now, and judging from their cleaning performance and design, Dyson V12 is the worthy winner!

The winner Dyson V12 is a clic-in battery cordless stick vacuum with a 150AW suction power. The device is potent and can deal with a wide range of debris on numerous surface types, from bare floors to mid-rise rugs. Its LCD screen also display battery life and the dust particle that the piezo sensor detects. In case you are a dog owner, this stick vacuum with anti-tangle brushrolls will ensure that your house is free of hair!

As for the runner-up Philips 8000, its 360° suction nozzle is a treat that is hard to beat. When I swivel de nozzle around the floor, I can see how it sucks the dust around it instead of in front of or right under it like with most vacuums. However, its loud noise and long charging time may not appear attractive for many users.

Dyson V12 vs Philips 8000: Differences

Dyson V12 wins 4-0 against Philips 8000, making it one of the most brutal vacuum faceoffs I have ever tested. With the V12’s advanced and convenient technologies, Philips 8000 struggles to hold its ground, whether it’s with suction power or supporting features.

Cleaning performance

Winner: Dyson V12

The Dyson V12 is a powerful cordless vacuum cleaner that boasts a high cleaning performance and impressive suction power of up to 150AW. This level of suction is among the highest in the market for cordless vacuums.

The Dyson V12 utilizes a powerful digital motor that spins at up to 125,000 RPM, which enables it to generate a high level of suction power. This motor is also equipped with Dyson’s patented Radial Cyclone technology with 11 concentric cyclones, which helps to capture even the smallest particles of dust and dirt.

The Dyson V12 also comes with a range of attachments and accessories that make it suitable for cleaning various surfaces, including carpets, hard floors, upholstery, and even ceilings. The most impressive nozzles are the Laser Slim Fluffy™ cleaner head, Motorbar™ cleaner head, and hair screw tool. All avoid hair tangle and can remove any debris from floors, beds, and sofas.

As for Philips 8000, the 360° suction nozzle sure helps reducing cleaning time. However, the potency isn’t great among vacuums of the same type and price range that I have tested. Regardless, the model can still clean dust and larger debris well. Hair, on the other hand, isn’t its strength. The lack of an anti-tangle motorbar makes it more prone to clogging.

Utilities

Winner: Dyson V12

Dyson V12 has many advantages regarding utilities compared to Philips 8000:

  • Piezo dirt sensor: The technology reveals the existence of dirt particles on the floor wherever you push the vacuum through. The real-time update reflects on the LCD screen of the device, where users can also check the battery life. Of course, I don’t give 100% of my trust to the sensor, but I still count on it to a certain extent. If I see the numbers jump when I move the nozzle, I will clean the section briefly for good measure.
  • Laser light: While most vacuums use LED headlights, Dyson stick vacuums are equipped with green laser light, which I find effective in revealing light-color debris and dust. For example, I tested the green light of Dyson V12 and the white LED light of Philips 8000 against all-purpose flour, and the white light of Philips 8000 just made the flour disappear.
  • Self-adjust floor nozzle: The floor nozzle automatically adapts itself to the surface and the debris size. It can work against even big cereals, contrary to what most people believe.

With that said, the pair share some convenient features. Like the exchangeable battery pack for extended cleanup time. And the variable cleaning modes that optimize suction and cleaning time.

With Philips 8000:

  • Eco mode: 70 minutes
  • Normal mode: 35 minutes
  • Turbo mode: 28 minutes

With Dyson V12:

  • Eco mode: 60 minutes
  • Auto mode: 40 minutes
  • Boost mode: 30 minutes

Noise level

Winner: Dyson V12

The Dyson V12, with advanced acoustic engineering and a Hyperdymium motor that spins at a high speed but with reduced noise, isn’t noisy at all. At 73dB, the vacuum produce deep noise that doesn’t seem loud and annoying from my experience.

On the other hand, the Philips 8000 series vacuum cleaners, while not known to be excessively loud, have not been specifically designed to reduce noise levels. At 84dB, it screechs at a higher sound wave that I don’t particularly find pleasant.

Philips 8000 is noisier

It is important to note that the noise level produced by a vacuum cleaner can depend on various factors, such as the power of the motor, the type of filtration system, and the design of the vacuum cleaner. However, from my experience and the parameters released by the brands, the Dyson V12 is generally considered to be quieter than the Philips 8000 series vacuum cleaners.

Filter and dust cup

Winner: Dyson V12

Dyson never misses the mark with its HEPA filter, which is designed to capture 99.99% of microscopic particles and allergens as small as 0.3 microns. The HEPA filter forces debris through layers of fine mesh, making sure that the air escaping the inner system is totally clean and safe when breathed in. I have tested the device many times, and so far I’m loving its filtration. The dirt bin, however, can be bigger. 0.1 gallons isn’t very wide.

As for Philips 8000, it uses a very traditional foam disc for its filtration system, which is surprising for me due to the overall retail price of the vacuum. The disc filter can’t capture particles as small as what Dyson V12’s HEPA can. However, since I have only tested the vacuum a few times, the filtration system is still very effective.
