Dyson V11 vs Vax Blade 4, it is easy to know that the first one far exceeds the other. And in this article, I will shed some light on the pros and cons of each.

While the Dyson V11 isn’t the best-of-the-line model, it still delivers top-of-class cleaning results. It works well on all types of surfaces and comes with a great set of attachments. The only thing that makes it not the ideal choice for everyone is probably its exorbitant price.

The Vax Blade 4, on the other hand, has many limitations, but the biggest catch is that it is very cheap and lightweight. So if you’re after an affordable cordless vacuum that’s easy to carry and maneuver, get this one.

Dyson V11 vs Vax Blade 4: Differences

Cleaning Performance

Winner: Dyson V11

Cleaning Performance And Cleaning Heads

The peak suction power of the Dyson V11 vs Vax Blade 4 is 185 AW and 135.7 AW, respectively. That’s a significant gap on paper, but how well a vacuum cleaner works also depends on the included cleaning head.

Both the Dyson V11 vs Vax Blade 4 come with multi-surface rollers. As their name suggests, they can work on any surface but are best on carpets. It’s a shame that they don’t come with soft rollers, which are a real bomb on hard floors.

Hard Floor

On my hard floor, the Dyson V11 was able to easily suck up almost all small-to-medium debris. To tackle larger debris, I had to lift two gates on the floorhead and wiggle the vacuum a bit. These adjustable gates are truly a great invention since they allow the Dyson V11 to pick up larger debris easier.

The Vax Blade 4, on the other hand, also had no problems capturing debris, except for the larger ones. For larger debris, such as cereal and fruit rings, it just pushed a large amount around. So I had to reconfigure it into a handheld vacuum and use a crevice tool to pick everything up.

Carpet

On my carpets, the Dyson V11 went on to defeat the Vax Blade 4. The first one picked up almost all the debris in just one pass, while I had to slide the second one back and forth many times in the same spot to pick up everything.

Hair Removal

Neither the Dyson V11 nor the Vax Blade 4 have no anti-tangle technology, so it isn’t odd that there was a fair amount of long hair wrapped around the roller after my tests. The good news is that it is easy to remove the roller from the floorhead, making untangling and maintenance easier.

It’s easy to see how extensive the Dyson V11’s accessory set is, which is exactly what I anticipate from an expensive model. The Vax Blade 4 doesn’t include many accessories, which is a widespread issue with the mid-range model. If you’re a pet owner with four-legged friends that shed like crazy, it is wise to spend a little more on VAX Blade 4 Pet (which has a mini motorized pet tool) or VAX Blade 4 Dual Pet (which has a mini motorized pet tool and two batteries).

Like most cord-free vacuums, the Vax Blade 4 has a wall bracket, so there’s no risk of knocking the machine over when you store it. But the charging setup is slightly different – its wall mount can’t charge the battery. Instead, you need to put the battery in a separate dock, which isn’t part of the wall mount, to give it a charge. This dock is quite compact, so you can put it anywhere, as long as it’s near an outlet.

The Dyson V11, on the other hand, also includes a wall-mounted bracket. It has room for two attachments and can charge the vacuum automatically every time you park the vacuum in it. If you’re against drilling into the wall, like me, just shell out extra bucks for a self-standing charging station.

Both the Dyson V11 vs Vax Blade 4 are top-heavy so that they can stand upright by themselves. They are even quite precarious when leaning against the wall. So, it is wise to lay the vacuum down flat when you pause during the vacuum to prevent any accidents.

Weight And Maneuverability

If fully assembled, the Blade 4 tips the scales at 6.4 pounds – quite similar to the Dyson V11, which weighs 6.53 pounds. You may initially find it a bit difficult to maneuver and control them,  but once you get the hang of them, maneuvering them and using them to clean up high is noticeably easier. In fact, I didn’t suffer supermarket trolley syndrome with them.

These machines are 2-in-1, like most other cordless vacuums, so they can be turned into handheld vacuums, which is great for cleaning stairs and sofas, getting into any hard-to-reach corner, and removing pesky cobwebs from the ceiling. Weighing around 3 to 4 pounds, it is easy to carry these handheld units around.

The floorhead on both rotates easily, allowing me to get these vacuums exactly where I needed them without hassle. I found it relatively straightforward to slide both vacuums under sofas and chairs, but the Vax Blade 4’s design made maneuvering it more arduous than I did with the Dyson V11 when the wand was flat against the ground.

Battery Life

Both the Dyson V11 vs Vax Blade 4 use detachable batteries, so it’s easy to swap out the batteries if the machine runs out of juice in the middle of the vacuuming cycle. But they come out of the box with a single battery (except the Dyson V11 Outsize and VAX Blade 4 Dual Pet). So if you are living in a bigger house, buying a second battery is necessary. With two fully charged batteries on hand, it is unnecessary to worry about how long it will keep the vacuum going.

Dust Cups And Filters

Winner: Dyson V11

The Blade 4 features a 0.6-liter removable dustbin, which is on par with that of the Tineco A11 Master or Pure One S12. Meanwhile, the Dyson V11’s dust cup is larger at 0.54 liters, which is equal to the Dyson V15’s.

To empty the Vax Blade 4’s container, all I had to do was hold it over the trash can and open it using the catch. As with many other cordless vacuums, I sometimes had to put my bare hand inside the dust cup to pull out stubborn detritus that couldn’t be removed by shaking the cup alone. Emptying the Dyson V11’s dust tank is a little easier: Just grab the red lever and push it down to let all the contents go.

The Dyson V11 sports a sealed system with a washable HEPA filter that snaps out at the back of the handheld unit. The Vax Blade 4, on the other hand, has no HEPA-level filter. Instead, it has a three-stage filtration system that can capture up to 99.8% of dust particles down to 0.3 microns in size, just like its HEPA-grade counterpart.

Utilities

Display Screen

The Dyson V11, except the Animal version, has a state-of-the-art LCD screen that shows the power mode used and estimated remaining battery life (in minutes). It will also alert you when the HEPA filter needs to be cleaned to keep performance optimal.

The Vax Blade 4 has three LED lights that display the current battery status, and the battery also has four lights that do the same. It would be better if it had a digital display.

User Interface Control & Power Modes

User Interface

The Dyson V11, like most models of the Dyson V series, features a pistol-like trigger that needs to be kept pressed continuously to power the vacuum. Its main benefit, according to Dyson, is to help prolong the runtime of the vacuum, more or less, since as soon as you let the trigger go, the machine stops working immediately. But if your vacuuming cycle typically lasts more than half an hour, you will have a tired hand at the end of the day.

There is a button on the LCD screen that you can use to swap between the vacuuming modes: eco, auto/med, and boost. If the auto mode is enabled, the vacuum will automatically adjust its suction depending on the type of surface you are cleaning, thanks to the dynamic load sensor. This feature only works with the High Torque floorhead attached – If you use one of the attachments, this mode will turn into “Med” mode.

As for the Vax Blade 4, there is no trigger that needs to be held down continuously to keep the vacuum operational. Instead, the main controls include two buttons: one for switching between the two power modes (standard and turbo) and one for turning the motorized brush head on and off. All these buttons are within thumb reach.

LED Headlights

The Vax Blade 4 has an LED on the floorhead, which helped me see clearly what I was cleaning. It is very useful but doesn’t work if the roller is disabled. The Dyson V11 has no headlight at all, and I was a bit disappointed that such an expensive model lacks this nifty feature.
