Dyson Cinetic Big Ball vs Animal 3 both are top-notch upright vacuum cleaners of the Dyson brand. They all receive very good reviews from users, but there is a huge price gap between them. So what’s the point? Which product should you choose? Honestly, I think either option is completely worth every penny.
Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal is a solid choice. I highly recommend choosing this vacuum cleaner if anyone in your family has asthma or allergies. In addition, it also does not require too much maintenance as it has Cinetic technology. You won’t have to clean the filter and you’ll never have to deal with your vacuum losing suction.
The Dyson Ball Animal 3, with its more reasonable price, provides an excellent cleaning performance on all types of floors. Especially, it is a great choice for pet owners thanks to its anti-tangle vanes on the floorhead that prevent hair from tangling.

Dyson Cinetic Big Ball vs Animal 3: Differences
The Dyson Cinetic Big Ball vs Animal 3 match ends in a tie, with a score of 2-2. The Dyson Ball Animal 3, which is a little more affordable, provides an even more effective cleaning performance. But the Dyson Cinetic Big Bag has great Cinetic technology and a cleaning kit that can be used for any job.
Cleaning Performance
The Winner: Dyson Ball Animal 3
Bare Floor Performance
Both vacuums perform well on hard, bare floors. Neither vacuum has any issues with these surfaces. They effortlessly remove both finer waste such as rice and larger debris such as cereal, and they doen’t lose suction even when their dirt compartment fills up. There aren’t very many notable differences between these two vacuum cleaners.
Carpet Performance
The Dyson Cinetic Big Ball’s carpet cleaner performed really well in my tests, demonstrating both a high level of uniform cleaning and the ability of the self-adjusting cleaner head to deal effectively with surface irregularities and small rugs.
But even though the ball made the vacuum easy to move and the cleaning head was square so it could get close to the wall, it still left enough space for the hose and attachments to have to go over it again. The stains were removed after some spot cleaning and subsequent vacuuming, but the results were roughly the same as those obtained with more traditional machines.
When used on carpets, the Dyson Ball Animal 3 performs exceptionally well. When the Motorbar floorhead is set to its leftmost mode, you can use it on low-pile carpet to quickly and easily remove both small particles like baking soda and larger ones like sand. To clean high-pile carpets, set the Motorbar to its rightmost mode. Its cleaning performance on this type of floor is also admirable.
Pet Hair Performance
Both Dyson Ball Animal 3 and Dyson Cinetic Big Ball are excellent options for cleaning up pet hair. They are ablet to handle pet hair on bare floors as well as low and high-pile carpets without any difficulty.
While the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball proved successful at picking up hair, the brush roll frequently became entangled with hair and required cutting periodically. I expected this because it is a common issue on all vacuums with brush rolls, so I didn’t think it took away too much from Dyson’s performance.
Dyson Ball Animal 3’s floorhead has anti-tangle vanes that are highly efficient at preventing hair from getting tangled in the brush roll. It amazes me that hardly any hair was wrapped around the brush roll of Animal 3. They had gathered all of my stray hairs in the dustbin, making it easy for them to be removed together with the rest of the filth and debris that had accumulated. A couple of hairs got caught in the brush roll, but I can easily untangle them.
Adjust Cleaner Head Height
The Dyson Cimetic Big Ball has a cleaning head that automatically adjusts its height depending on the surface you are cleaning. This makes it easy to keep a good seal when I move from carpets to hard floors without having to bend down and change anything.\
It’s the opposite for the Dyson Ball Animal 3; in order to change the height of the cleaner head, I had to bend down to adjust the slider that’s placed on the front of the Motorbar. The setting on the left is used to clean embedded dirt and debris as well as hard floors. The setting in the middle is used to clean solid debris from low-pile carpets, and the setting on the right is best for cleaning high-pile carpets.
Dirt Bin & Filtration
The Winner: Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal
Dust Bin Capacity
The dirt bin on the Dyson Cinetic is fairly large at about 0.57 gallons. It’s not much different than the Dyson Ball Animal 3 which is 0.32 gallons. They both are fairly large dust canisters.
Filter
The HEPA filter is one of the high-quality filters that are included with the Dyson Ball Animal 3 purchase. Hence, when they are vacuumed, they are capable of capturing almost all of the dust and allergens that are in the air, which is excellent for persons who suffer from allergies. Even better, both the pre-filter and the post-filter may be washed will significantly cut down on maintenance costs.
Cinetic Technology
In contrast to the vast majority of other vacuum cleaners, including the Dyson Animal 3, the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball does not contain a pre-filter. This is one of the most typical causes of a loss in suction. Instead, it utilizes 36 cyclones, each of which has flexible tips that are resistant to becoming clogged.
Because of the way the tips move, even the smallest particles are removed, preventing dust from accumulating in the cyclones, which would otherwise obstruct the flow of air and loss of suction. It also implies that you won’t need to wash a filter because there won’t be any dust clogs.
In point of fact, I believe that pretty much every other kind of vacuum cleaner requires you to clear dust clogs from the filter, so it’s wonderful that you don’t have to do that with this one! It also ensures that there is never a loss of suction as a result of buildup on the filter, which is yet another fantastic advantage.
Price & Value For Money
The Winner: Dyson Ball Animal 3
Those who have allergies to dust and dander, as well as people who own pets, will find that the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal is an excellent choice for their cleaning needs. It will also be appealing to people who want a vacuum that doesn’t lose suction and requires little maintenance.
However, while I appreciate its forward-thinking design and impressive cleaning abilities, there is a possibility that some customers will not think the product’s expensive price is justified.
There are other vacuums on the market that are cheaper but work just as well, like Dyson Ball Animal 3. You will, however, need to clean the filter on these on a regular basis to ensure that their suction capacity does not diminish over time. If you would rather avoid this headache, purchasing the Cinetic Big Ball is an investment that more than pays for itself.
Yet, in terms of cost-effectiveness, the Dyson Ball Animal 3 gets my pick. This is because the cleaning performance of a vacuum cleaner is the characteristic that I prioritize the most when making a purchase.
Accessories
The Winner: Dyson Cinetic Big Ball
As the flagship model of Dyson’s new filter-maintenance free range, the Cinetic Big Ball Animal is, unsurprisingly, a very pricey vacuum since Dyson is known for making very pricey vacuums. But in exchange for the higher price, the manufacturer provides a number of useful accessories, such as:
- A turbine tool that can be used to remove pet hair from furniture and other surfaces without tangling it;
- A fibers dusting brush that, in contrast to some cheaper versions, covers a large surface area;
- A crevice tool that can be used to clean tight spaces, such as the space between the refrigerator and the wall;
- A multi-angle brush that can be hooked around to the top of infrequently cleaned spaces;
- A mattress tool for cleaning mattresses and upholstery.
All of these things are easier to carry and harder to lose when stored when they are in a tool bag. Dyson places a value of approximately $200 on the entire pack of extras; but, regardless of its monetary worth, it does certainly assist the Cinetic Big Ball in acting as a replacement for dedicated dusters, handheld vacuums, and other standalone cleaning gadgets.
The base Dyson Ball Animal 3 upright only includes 2 attachments, including:
- A combination tool that is great for cleaning in tight areas or collecting solid particles like dust.
- A stair tool is great for picking up dust from hard-to-reach areas like stairs, between blind or behind radiators.
