Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin vs Animal 2: Each has its own pros and cons, and no one is better than anyone else.
The Dyson Ball Animal 2 has greater suction, but it is hard to push on carpets. I think adding the ability to fine-tune the suction will clear this problem. It is heavier, bulkier, and noisier than the Multi Floor Origin. The only area where it triumphs over its competitor is attachments.
The Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin has weaker suction power, but it still works well. It is quite bulky and heavy, making it not suitable for everyone. And like the Dyson Ball Animal 2, it doesn’t have headlights on the nozzle. So dear Dyson engineers, if you’re reading this, please put LED headlights on your future uprights!

Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin vs Animal 2: Differences
Both win this battle, which means they have a tie in the end. The Multi Floor Origin is more compact and lighter but still bulky and heavy. The Dyson Animal 2 has stronger suction, allowing it to work better on the floor but making it hard to push on the carpet, especially the thick one. As for the attachment, Animal 2 takes the lead since it is packaged with the turbine tool, which is nice for pet hair.
Cleaning Performance
Winner: Tie
The exact suction power of the Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin vs Animal 2 is 272 AW and 308 AW, respectively. The figures don’t know how to lie! The second one has greater suction, which is both a pro and a con.
As a slightly older model, the Dyson Multi Floor Origin is slightly less powerful than the Ball Animal 2. But it was still powerful enough to get my hard floors spotlessly clean after a single pass, though I was unsure if it sucked everything up. On the poor side, it didn’t work well on my carpets, and worst of all, it got clogged with pet hair. Most of us are busy with our livelihoods, so no one wants to spend precious minutes untangling clogged hair on the roller of a vacuum.
In addition, many users report that the Ball Multi Floor Origin’s roller stopped working after around a year. If that’s the case, it’s a waste of money! We all work hard for our money, so paying a significant amount for something that will break after a year is stupid. Time will tell, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that mine will last long.
The Dyson Ball Animal 2 is more powerful than the Multi Floor Origin, so it should go without saying that this machine works better on hard floors, although the difference is negligible. This level of aggressive suction helped me pull up a large amount—or possibly all—of dust, dirt, hair, fur, sand, and more from this surface. It’s that good.
On carpets, especially thick ones, so much suction made pushing the machine challenging. It’s a sweaty job that I think only people with relatively decent health and strength can deal with. I tried vacuuming my door mat and door rug with this model, and I advise you to avoid doing so since it sucked them up inside and jammed them firmly in the roller. I think adding the ability to adjust the suction will help with this.
Similar to the Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin, there was also a decent amount of hair jammed on Animal 2’s roller. I had to use tweezers and scissors to remove them. Otherwise, the roller would slow down over time.
Dimensions And Weight
Winner: Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin
The Multi Floor Origin measures 15 x 13 x 42 inches, while the Animal 2 is equally bulky at 15.35 x 13.39 x 42.13 inches. I wouldn’t complain about their bulky footprint if they could store all attachments onboard. However, these machines only have places for two attachments, and you’ll need to store the rest somewhere else. This is not a good thing since sometimes it will take time to remember where you kept the rest and find it.
In terms of weight, the Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin vs Animal 2 is stupidly heavy at 17.37 lbs and 17.5 lbs, respectively. Needless to say, maneuvering them is a daunting task, and there was a time when I thought being hard to maneuver was one of the hallmarks of Dyson’s uprights. I love a good workout, but I like to sweat on my own terms instead of vacuuming. So if you have less upper body strength, slender builds, or infirmity, you should look for another one.
The ball-shaped mechanism was meant to make it easier to move the machine, but it was big enough to keep my vacuum from going under the interior. So I had to use the hose for this purpose, and deploying the hose was also quite tedious and awkward.
Attachments
Winner: Dyson Ball Animal 2
Another difference between the Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin vs Animal 2 is the attachment selection:
Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin | Dyson Ball Animal 2 |
Stair tool Crevice tool Dusting brush | Stair tool Combination tool (2-in-1 tool, including dusting brush and crevice tool) Turbine tool |
As you can see, the Multi Floor Origin comes with slightly different accessories but still a nice variety. But it has no turbine tool, which is nice for pet hair. So I give the nod to the Dyson Animal 2.
Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin vs Animal 2: Similarities
Self-Adjusting Cleaner Head
The cleaner heads of both machines can self-adjust height based on the type of floor and the size of debris. As a result, they can easily capture large debris and move from one type of surface to another without pressing a button.
It is a huge convenience, but I think the automatic height adjustment of the floorhead contributes to making it difficult to push the machine on the carpet. Both also have two buttons on the body: one to turn on/off the vacuum and one to turn on/off the roller.
Filter System
The Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin vs Animal 2 share the Radial Root Cyclone technology, which can gather more microscopic dust than other cyclones. Combined with a HEPA filter, these machines can trap 99.97% of dust as small as 0.3 microns. These filters are washable, which means no extra costs.
Cord Length
The last thing that the Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin vs Animal 2 have in common is a 35-foot power cord. I could vacuum quite a large area from a single outlet. The cord is located at the bottom, which is a bad thing since I had to hold it during vacuuming. The cord doesn’t retract into the unit. It’s not a big deal for me, but bending down to roll the cord isn’t feasible for anyone with a bad back.
