Bosch Unlimited 8 vs Dyson V15: Both are flagships of two big brands. And, in my opinion, the latter is slightly better.
Although the Dyson V15 is a bit pricey, I bet many people would be willing to splurge on it without hesitation if they knew how great it is. It has great performance on both hard floors and carpets, is easy to maneuver, isn’t too noisy, has a decent battery life, and comes with a bunch of attachments.
The Bosch Unlimited 8 delivers sublime cleaning power in Turbo mode and a long cleaning time thanks to its two batteries and a quick charger. But there are some points that take the shine off this machine, particularly considering its premium price.

Bosch Unlimited 8 vs Dyson V15: Differences
The Dyson V15 wins 2-1 and draws once against the Bosch Unlimited 8. The Dyson V15 passed all of my tests with excellent results, is lightweight, isn’t too noisy, and comes with various attachments. The Bosch Unlimited 8 is also a good choice, but it is a bit heavy, has a small dust cup, and isn’t ideal for deep cleaning carpets.
Cleaning Performance
Winner: Dyson V15
The Bosch Unlimited 8 has two vacuuming settings: normal and turbo. Likewise, the Bosch Unlimited 8 features three cleaning modes: eco, auto, and boost. In Turbo and Boost modes, these vacuums will, of course, have the most suction, making them the best cleaners they can be. Those are also the settings I used for my tests.
Hard floors
On hard floors, these machines are really the bomb. The Bosch Unlimited 8 removed all the debris in a single pass without pushing or brushing anything like many other sticks.
On the other hand, the Dyson V15, with a Laser Slim Fluffy Head, also removed everything easily and left nothing behind after the first pass. This is cool but not odd because this floorhead is designed to effectively clean hard floors.
Carpets
On low-pile carpets, the Bosch Unlimited 8 still performed well, but this type of surface only translated into a good clean after I made two passes. Anyway, that’s a good performance for a stick.
But on my high carpet, the head of Unlimited 8 was pulled down onto the carpet, and the roller slowed gradually and finally stopped completely. That is common with air-powered “turbo” rollers, making for a bad vacuuming experience. I switched to normal power settings, and this problem stopped happening, but the clean performance was fairly poor afterward.
The Dyson V15 still shines brightly on both low and high carpets with the High Torque 2.0 floorhead. The only issue I initially had was finding it a little challenging to push the machine on my high carpets. But then I adjusted a slider on the floorhead, and everything was okay.
Hair
Both floorheads of the Dyson V15 did a great job of limiting the hair wrap issue. Its High Torque 2.0 floorhead also features a row of fangs, which help send most of the vacuumed hair into the dust cup instead of letting it end up on the roller. Thanks to that, it is unnecessary to spend minutes cleaning the roller after each cleaning session.
On the flip side, the Bosch Unlimited 8’s brush should be checked regularly since it wasn’t designed to be self-cleaning. If you find a large amount of hair stuck on the roller, you can easily cut it off and pull it out using a pair of small scissors or a sharp knife.
Another small minus is that the roller has a certain delay. When I pressed the on/off button, it started spinning after about three seconds. It’s not a big deal, but no delay is better.
Dimensions And Maneuverability
Winner: Bosch Unlimited 8
Dimensions And Storage
The dimensions of the Bosch Unlimited 8 vs Dyson V15 are 50.4 x 9.8 x 8.3 inches and 44.9 x 8.3 x 9.9 inches, respectively. Like most cordless sticks, they come with wall brackets that can be used to store and charge the vacuum simultaneously.
The Unlimited 8 vs Dyson V15’s charging stations can house two attachments. Combined with a wand clip, the Dyson V15 can hold two attachments, while the Bosch Unlimited 8 doesn’t allow storage on board.
Weight And Maneuverability
Weight is among the factors that should be taken into account since it will determine if a stick vacuum is comfortable to use. The Bosch Unlimited 8 weighs 7 pounds, making it heavier than the Dyson V15, which brings 6.2 pounds to the scale. The difference is negligible, but I can still feel it distinctly.
The Dyson V15 is top-heavy since the motor and dust cup assembly are on top. It wasn’t a big issue for me when vacuuming my floor or carpet, but it was somewhat exhausting when vacuuming the furniture for a longer time. As for the Bosch Unlimited 8, its weight is well distributed, so it didn’t put too much pressure on my wrists.
Battery Life
Bosch Unlimited 8 | Dyson V15 | |
Minimum Battery Life | 9 mins | 8 mins |
Maximum Battery Life | 86 mins | 71 mins |
Charging Time | 55 mins | 229 mins |
Nearly an hour and a half is the longest battery life I’ve seen so far. The Bosch Unlimited 8 comes with two interchangeable batteries, meaning you have almost three hours in total to vacuum! The Dyson V15’s battery is also removable and replaceable, so you can double its run time by purchasing extra batteries.
While both machines last quite a while between charges when I choose the normal and eco settings, I rarely use them. Instead, my and many others’ default settings are boost or turbo, which creates the strongest suction but drains the battery the fastest.
One of the selling points of the Bosch Unlimited 8 is its quick charger. This model, by some miracle, can be fully charged in under an hour, which is also a record.
Dust Cup Capacity And Filters
Winner: Dyson V15
The dust cup of the Dyson V15 has a capacity of 0.75 liters, while that of the Bosch Unlimited 8 can house up to 0.4 liters of dust and dirt. Aside from the small capacity, the other thing I don’t like about the Bosch Unlimited 8’s cup is that I had to disassemble the unit entirely to empty the container.
The Dyson V15 has a single HEPA filter that is washable to extend the life and maintain the performance of the unit.
The Unlimited 8’s filter, on the other hand, has a fine mesh canister with a pleated filter inside. The producer advertises that this filter system can trap 99.9% of dust and dirt, like HEPA filters. It isn’t washable and can be rinsed by twisting the red handle on top, called Rotation Clean.
It sounds convenient, but I asked myself how its performance can be maintained over time if dust particles get permanently lodged in its fibers.
Other Special Features And Ultimates
Winner: Tie
Noise
Bosch Unlimited 8’s noise level is measured between 67 and 71 dB, which is tolerable, and I could still have a conversation with my wife while vacuuming without raising my voice. This volume is quieter than many of its premium cordless competitors, including the Dyson V15, which produces 71 to 76 dB of noise.
Display Screen
The Dyson V15 sports an LCD screen that shows maintenance alerts, estimated remaining battery life, the current cleaning mode (eco, auto, or boost), how many dust particles are vacuumed, and their size (10, 60, 180, and 500 microns).
The Bosch Unlimited 8 has no screen. Instead, it has a small LED light on the top that will light up when vacuuming or charging. That is great, but adding a display would make it better.
