Bissell Cleanview Swivel vs Hoover WindTunnel Tempo Bagged: A Detailed Review And Comparison

I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post. Read more

In this Bissell Cleanview Swivel vs Hoover WindTunnel Tempo Bagged battle, I will cover the Bissell Cleanview Swivel Vacuum and the Hoover WindTunnel Tempo Bagged Vacuum, two of the best-selling models from two big names. And in my opinion, the second one is the better choice.

The Hoover WindTunnel is a budget-oriented upright vacuum. It has amazing cleaning performance on bare floors and does a good job on both low and high-pile carpets. However, its mainly plastic construction feels a little cheap, and some parts can require regular replacement, which means recurring costs can add up over time.

The Bissell Cleanview is designed for removing pet hair. Even though it has no HEPA filter, it’s still an excellent choice for users with shedding pets since it can easily capture hair from all types of surfaces.

Bissell Cleanview Swivel vs Hoover WindTunnel Tempo Bagged: Differences

The Hoover Windtunnel beat the Bissell Cleanview with a score of 4-3. It has good overall performance on all types of surfaces, and its dustbag can hold more dust before it needs to be replaced. Adding to its convenience are headlights and a brushroll on/off switch.

Cleaning Performance

The Winner: Tie

Bare Floors

The Hoover WindTunnel can suck up pet hair as well as small and bulky debris as easy as pie. I’m glad its performance remains consistent as its dust cup fills up, which is great if you must deal with a big mess.

The Bissell Cleanview can also suck up all pet hair as well as the majority of small and large debris. But it tends to send large and small debris in different directions and may take extra passes to fully capture this debris.

Low-Pile Carpets

The Hoover WindTunnel can remove pet hair without an issue and does a great job with small and fine debris. Still, it may take more than one passe to fully suck up coarse material, like sand. During testing, I noticed some powder-like debris stuck to the inside of its hose instead of getting into the dirtbag.

The Bissell Cleanview is also excellent on low-pile carpets. It can pick up all pet hair but struggles a bit to pick up large debris. Plus, it has a harder time sucking up small debris like baking soda, although it can still remove most of this debris. Debris can sometimes get stuck in its hose as well.

High-Pile Carpets

The Hoover WindTunnel easily captures pet hair and removes a good amount of fine debris, like baking soda. However, it doesn’t work very well at removing coarse material like sand.

The Bissell Cleanview, on the other hand, struggles a bit more with both small and large debris on this type of surface. Fortunately, it can suck up pet hair easily, just like on low-pile carpets.

Maneuverability

the bissell cleanview has better maneuverability thanks to its rotating head
The Bissell Cleanview has better maneuverability thanks to its rotating head

The Winner: The Bissell Cleanview

The Hoover WindTunnel lacks a rotating head, making it harder to maneuver in tight areas. Fortunately, it rolls easily on uneven surfaces and can smoothly go over low-lying obstructions like electrical cords or rug tassels. Vacuuming under couches and tables can be a bit tricky due to its bulky design, but using it as a semi-handheld vacuum can make things easier.

As for the Bissell Cleanview, its dirt compartment is quite bulky and struggles a bit to get underneath tables or chairs. Fortunately, it has a rotating head, which helps maneuver the unit better.

Design and Convenience

The Winner: Tie

Dimension And Storing

The dimensions of the Bissell Cleanview vs Hoover Windtunnel are 13 x 14 x 44.5 inches and 16.9 x 17 x 32.4 inches, respectively.

These machines have a somewhat wide footprint and are bulkier than many of the models I tested, but storing them didn’t tip me over the edge. They could be placed in any corner of my house without a problem. Better yet, they make the most of their bulky footprint by having onboard storage for their tools and accessories.

Weight And Portability

As I mentioned, Bissell Cleanview vs Hoover Windtunnel are quite bulky, so there is no doubt that they are quite heavy. In fact, their weights are 14.11 lbs and 15.9 lbs,  respectively.

Picking up and carrying these machines isn’t a big problem for me. They also have a carrying handle, making them a little easier to carry up and down stairs or from room to room. But if you are a girl or an old man, I bet you will struggle to lug them.

Range

The cord lengths of Bissell Cleanview vs Hoover Windtunnel are 29.40 feet and 26.90 feet, respectively. In my opinion, anything longer than 25 ft is more than enough to allow you to vacuum large areas without switching outlets.

I have no complaints about the reach of these machines, but I am a bit disappointed about the fact that I have to wrap their cords manually. Still, don’t worry! It is a breeze to get the job done!

Bagless Or Bagged?

The Winner: The Hoover Windtunnel

The Hoover WindTunnel Tempo Bagged, as its name suggests, is a bagged vacuum cleaner, whereas the Bissell Cleanview is a bagless one. In my opinion, no one is better than the other, as each has its own pros and cons.

I rely on the capacity of their dirt compartments to determine the winner and the loser. The Bissell Cleanview features a 0.26-gal dust cup, while each dustbag of the Hoover WindTunnel can hold up to 0.73 gallon of dust. So, yes, the Hoover Windtunnel wins this round.

Utilities

The Winner: The Hoover Windtunnel

Noise

Hoover WindtunnelBissell Cleanview
Bare Floor81.4 dBA84.1 dBA
Low-Pile Carpet79.8 dBA81.5 dBA

Both Bissell Cleanview vs Hoover Windtunnel are very noisy. They are noisier than hair dryers and can overwhelm nearby conversations. So I wouldn’t recommend them for early morning vacuuming. But, anyway, the Hoover Windtunnel takes the winning ticket this round because it’s quieter.

Headlights

The Hoover Windtunnel has headlights, while its competitor does not. For many users, it is a nice-to-have feature, but I consider it a must-have one. It will magnify all the dust and dirt that your ceiling-mounted lights can miss.

Yes, ceiling-mounted lights in your room can illuminate the entire space, but the headlight of the vacuum will reveal more dirt that you may ignore. The vacuum cleaner headlight can also shine under your bed, sofa, and cabinets, which the ceiling-mounted light cannot. Better yet, it can reflect things that you shouldn’t vacuum, such as jewelry and coins, that can cause harm to your vacuum.

Perhaps many users would argue that they can get a brighter bulb for their house, but doing so is not suggested in the living room or bedroom. Excessive brightness can make it difficult to relax and even harm your eyes.

Brushroll On/Off

In case you don’t know, a brushroll is useful for cleaning carpets but can scratch bare floors. That’s why many vacuums have a switch to let you turn it on and off as needed. The Hoover Windtunnel has this nifty feature, while its rival does not.
