Are you a pet owner? Check out this review of the Bissell Cleanview Swivel Rewind Pet vs Dyson Ball Animal 2, two vacuums that are specially designed for pet hair control! And even though both do a phenomenal job of cleaning dirt, debris, and hair, the Bissell Cleanview Swivel Rewind Pet excels with its much more comfortable price.
The winner, Bissell 2254 Cleanview Swivel Rewind Pet, is one of my quiet vacuums. This model does really well with cleaning bare floors and low-pile carpets, from small dust particles to bigger debris or trash pieces. The triple-action brushroll makes it simple to pick up pet hair, even if it’s stuck in a dense low-pile carpet. Also, the price point is too good to pass up! So if you are looking for a machine that can handle a good range of debris and surfaces, this is it!
As for Dyson Ball Animal 2, this runner-up is a beast! In fact, it would have been the winner if it weren’t for its slightly noisy operation and high price. The vacuum works very well against long pet hair or any small-size debris. The HEPA filter also ensures that most dust particles don’t escape via the exhaust port. If you are willing to invest, I suggest this model more than the one above.

Bissell Cleanview Swivel Rewind Pet vs Dyson Ball Animal 2: Differences
Bissell Cleanview Swivel Rewind Pet wins 2-0 and ties twice against Dyson Ball Animal 2. Both clean very well regarding standard floors and low rugs against debris and pet hair. The former wins thanks to its lightweight design, accessible price, and low noise level!
Cleaning performance
Tie
Bare floor
The suction power of both vacuums is amazing against bare floors. I have tested the cleaning performance against loose dirt and dust, pieces of paper, short dog hair, and long human hair. Dyson Ball Animal 2 and Bissell Cleanview Swivel Rewind Pet don’t fail me! The suction power is potent enough to eliminate 99-100% lighter and smaller debris like dust particles or hair strands.
As for larger trash like cereals or pieces of snacks scattered around on the floor, it gets a bit trickier because the floor nozzle can be too low to get the debris inside the intake port. Luckily, both vacuums have a variable height adjustment that allows a higher or lower distance between the floor and the nozzle. While Dyson employs an automatic height system, Bissell Cleanview Swivel Rewind Pet requires manual adjustment.
However, with the giant difference between their price ranges, I don’t think the manual rotary switch on the Bissell model is a bad thing. It’s a trade-off in terms of cost and convenience.
What’s interesting is that I prefer the manual adjustment on Bissell! The reason is that it’s more secure than Dyson’s automatic height mechanism. The powerfoot’s height on Dyson Animal Ball 2 changes depending on the surface we are working with and how we bend the floor nozzle for trash to enter the intake port. It requires more work, while with Bissell, it’s more convenient to work with each surface since the height is stable.
Carpets or rugs
The pair does a phenomenal job against low-pile carpets and rugs, especially those that aren’t shaggy. The suction power is just right. It doesn’t eat up the carpets or rugs I’m cleaning, and it lifts all the dust and trashes trapped on the scruffy surfaces.
In fact, Dyson cleans low-pile rugs and carpets more efficiently than Bissell due to its impeccable suction power, especially when pet hair sticks to the fiber, which is hard to remove even when we try picking it, strand by strand.
Things are a bit different with high-pile carpets and rugs, though. It’s no easy task for any vacuum to clean this surface. But my takes on these vacuums are: Bissell’s more moderated potent suction power and manual height adjustment make it the better pick for high-pile fabrics. Dyson Animal Ball 2’s powerfoot is too low, and its suction power adds too much pressure on the wrist to move the entire vacuum around the carpet.
Filtration system and dirt’ ejection
Tie
Seeing the “HEPA filter” on Dyson Animal Ball 2’s description may already boost your preference for the vacuum. But my experience with the system has told me that it’s quite similar to most filtration systems on vacuums nowadays, especially when the system is multilayered. I have tested both Bissell Cleanview Swivel Rewind Pet and Dyson Animal Ball 2 in this regard, and their exhaust ports tell me that they do an equally good job at trapping dust inside while cleaning.
As for dirt ejection, both vacuums have an easy emptying mechanism with a touch of a button. You don’t have to touch the debris to dump the contents out of the container. Just open the bottom of the bin and tap it against your trashcan. Rinse the container, and you are good to go! Remember that you can leave the filter inside without cleaning for 1 month, but it’s absolutely necessary to clear the dust bin after every use.
Design & convenience
Winner: Bissell Cleanview Swivel Rewind Pet
Bissell Cleanview Swivel Rewind Pet is much lighter with its 13.65 pounds body. As for Dyson Animal Ball 2, it’s 17.2 pounds with a bulkier frame. There is no doubt that it’s easier to maneuver the Bissell model.
Regarding cord length, these vacuums are quite similar. While Bissell comes with a 27ft cord, its opponent boasts a 30ft one. So the latter is a tad longer. In all cases, the reach is very impressive and won’t require users to plug and unplug too much, especially when their house or rooms aren’t packed with too much furniture. What I like more about the Bissell is that it has a rewind function for the cord. With a click, it will retract the cord automatically.
Both vacuums come with a set of different nozzles to tackle different areas and debris. You can make the most of their upholstery and crevice tools. Their pet hair nozzles work like a dream, so count on them!
Price and value
Winner: Bissell Cleanview Swivel Rewind Pet
After comparing all the features, it all boils down to the price and value aspect. Bissell Cleanview Swivel Rewind Pet has been very convincing with its cleaning performance and convenient design. I find its price tag very reasonable and much more accessible than Dyson Animal Ball 2.
If you are a pet owner, both devices are great picks. But if your budget isn’t big and you want to work with high-pile carpet, I highly recommend the Bissell fellow more than the Dyson. Better value for the price!
