In this review, I will compare the Bissell CleanView Compact vs PowerClean Swivel Rewind Pet 2256K. The PowerClean 2256K is the winner for me and is an affordable and great option for pet owners.
The PowerClean Swivel Rewind Pet 2256K has very good suction performance and it can pull up lots of pet hairs from my carpets. In terms of design, it features a wider cleaning path, a longer cord and hose, a swivel head with adjustable nozzle height, and a retractable cord. These features provide more convenience for you when doing your cleaning tasks.
Meanwhile, the Bissell CleanView Compact 3508 features a modest hose and cord length and a non-swivel cleaning head. Besides, its cord is wrapped manually, and the cleaning nozzle height cannot be adjusted. However, it is much lighter and the suction is also pretty good for cleaning on daily basis. Thus, it’s a good choice for you if you want a lightweight and compact vacuum for your light-duty cleaning or as an extra vac for pre-vacuuming.
Bissell CleanView Compact vs PowerClean 2256K: Comparison Chart
Bissell CleanView Compact vs PowerClean 2256K: Differences
The Bissell PowerClean Swivel Rewind Pet 2256K wins 3-0 against the CleanView Compact as it offers greater convenience to your cleaning tasks owing to its adjustable-height cleaning nozzle, the ease of maneuvering, and the auto-retractable cord.
Cleaning performance
Winner: Bissell PowerClean 2256K
Suction strength
The suction power of Bissell CleanView Compact and PowerClean 2256K is very good. Personally, I would say that they have the same suction performance because they can pick up literally everything on the floors and carpets, including my dog’s hair and sand. Though their suction is not top-notch in this vacuum market, it is awesome for the price and practical use.
Brushroll system
The brush roll of the PowerClean Swivel Rewind Pet 2256K seems to be the upgraded version of the brush roll on the CleanView Compact.
The PowerClean model has edge bristles and a triple-action brush roll, while the CleanView Compact brush roll is the two-row rotating type. The new brush roll type enables edge-to-edge cleaning for the PowerClean Swivel Pet. This means the Bissell PowerClean can tackle the dirt in the corners and edges between the floor and the wall more easily.
Additionally, the see-through brush cover is another thing I like about the PowerClean 2256K. This clear brush-roll cover allows me to see whether there is any hair stuck on the roller so that I can clean it right away to avoid suction loss.
However, these two vacuums cannot turn off the brush roll or have any button to do that when being in the upright position or switching from carpeted surfaces to bare floors. This will induce some drawbacks, including damaging the cleaning surfaces and scattering the debris on hard/bare floors.
When I put them in the upright mode so that I can use the hose with attachments to clean sofas and couches, I did not aware of the spinning brush roll pulling up my carpet’s fibers and nearly destroying that section. So, you should be careful with it!
Adjustable head nozzle
However, it is possible to reduce the damage by increasing the nozzle height to enlarge the gap between the brush roll and the carpet. Thus, the brush roll does not contact directly with the cleaning surfaces. For that reason, the Bissell PowerClean scored one more point in this competition because it features the cleaning low-profile cleaning head with adjustable nozzle height.
The nozzle height of the Bissell PowerClean has 5 settings with the “I” level being the lowest and often used for bare floors. Other settings can be manually adjusted to fit the thickness of your carpets and rugs.
Compatible floor type
As mentioned, both of them have very good suction to pull up everything on the floor, even litter box crumbs and short pet hairs. They can perform well on either carpets or hard floors. Besides, it is easy to transition between different floor types.
Besides, for the PowerClean 2256K, I really like its slim and wider cleaning head because it can go under furniture easily and cover a pretty generous area in one pass. Though this feature is not important, I still find it useful to speed up my cleaning time.
However, with the cannot-turn-off brush roll, the scattering of debris on bare floors is still noticed for both Bissell PowerClean 2256K and CleanView Compact 3508.
Design & Convenience
Winner: Bissell PowerClean 2256K
Maneuverability
- Lightweight
Obviously, between the Bissell CleanView Compact vs PowerClean Swivel Pet, the former is much lighter. The weight of the CleanView Compact is 7.5 lbs, which is nearly half of PowerClean’s weight (~14 lbs).
However, the PowerClean is not as heavy as other upright vacuums that often weigh about 16 lbs. Besides, though it is quite difficult to push the PowerClean on thick carpets, adjusting the nozzle height can help. Thus, maneuvering both Bissell CleanView Compact and PowerClean 2256K is easy on many surfaces.
- Reach range
The PowerClean Swivel Pet can offer longer reach than the CleanView Compact due to its longer hose and electric cord. With the longer hose (8 ft.), the PowerClean can help reach higher surfaces like the top of wardrobes and blinds, while keeping the balance of the vacuum body on the floor.
Moreover, with the 27 ft. cord of the PowerClean 2256K, 4 ft. longer than the CleanView Compact cord, the times of unplugging and replugging the cord can be reduced, which adds more convenience to your cleaning process.
- Swivel steering
The swivel steering is another useful feature of the PowerClean 2256K. The swivel head will support the control of steering the vacuum around the corners and furniture, offering notable pressure reduction on your wrist.
Noise levels
Both vacuums are loud but tolerable. Actually, I do not expect them to be silent like some vacuums with much higher prices. Sure, their loud noises sent my dog running for cover, but with their good suction and price, I think it’s a trade-off.
Utility
Winner: Bissell PowerClean 2256K
Automatic cord rewind
The retractable cord on the PowerClean 2256K is what I really like. By slightly pressing the button above the cleaning head, the cord is automatically pulled back into the machine. In this way, I don’t have to bend all the way down to wrap the cord anymore!
Attachments
The PowerClean Swivel Pet 2256K has more attachments than the CleanView Compact 3508. Besides the basic extension wand, crevice tool, and dusting brush like those included in the CleanView Compact package, the PowerClean 2256K additionally goes with the Pet TurboEraser tool and Pet Hair Fabric tool for extra cleaning pet hairs, and all of them can be stored on board.
The Pet TurboEraser tool works fine for me. When using it, you should not press it too much because it is air-driven and its brush will stop spinning if the suction is blocked. The Pet Hair Fabric tool is kind of awkward to use but it is good at removing my dog’s hairs from the sofa crevices.
Bissell CleanView Compact vs PowerClean 2256K: Similarities
In comparison between Bissell CleanView Compact vs PowerClean 2256K, one thing I see they have in common is their dirt cup and filtration system.
Dirt Tank & Filtration
Particularly, both of them have the same dirt cup capacity, which is about 1 liter (~0.9 dry quarts) to the max fill line. In terms of filtration, unfortunately, they do not include the HEPA filter. Yet they have washable filters, so you can rinse them with warm water when it gets dirty and let them dry before putting them back in the machine.
