Bissell CleanView Compact vs Pet Hair Eraser: Which Is The Better Pick For Your Household?

I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post. Read more

What is the first feature you compare between 2 top-ranking vacuum cleaners, Bissell CleanView Compact vs Pet Hair Eraser? Evaluating the user-friendliness, maneuverability, and durability of vacuum cleaners is so important. In this article, you’ll find just that and more features to consider if you don’t know which model to get.

For me, Bissell Pet Hair Eraser is a better option. It is upgraded with advanced features, HEPA filtration, and extra accessories that make it special. The functionality of the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Vacuum is at its best, with a sturdier build, multi-floor setting, and swivel steering system.

But I would still recommend the Bissell CleanView Compact to people looking for a hassle-free and lightweight vacuum cleaner to use. It also comes with plenty of exciting features to look forward to. It’s great for bare floors and picks up the finest dirt particle in a single pass.

Bissell CleanView Compact vs Pet Hair Eraser: Differences

If you run into any confusion regarding the Bissell CleanView Compact vs Pet Hair Eraser, maybe this final verdict will help you choose the winner.

The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser wins 4 – 0 against the CleanView Compact because it is more powerful and flexible than the latter. It also has better cleaning features that make vacuuming any floor a breeze!

Cleaning Performance

The Winner: Bissell Pet Hair Eraser

Bare floors

When I use the BISSELL CleanView Compact to vacuum bare floors, I’ve discovered that it performs fairly well. However, It is impossible to turn off the brushroll, which is a huge pain when cleaning hard floors. At least, when the brush is turned on, dust and dirt aren’t thrown backward like other vacuums that can’t turn off the brushroll. Also, at this price, I know it’s unrealistic to expect it to have a strong enough suction to clean all the dirt and dust in a single pass. Yet, after a few passes, it can eventually get it all.

Bissell Pet Hair Eraser has 5 multi-floor levels between bare floors and high carpets
Bissell Pet Hair Eraser has 5 multi-floor levels between bare floors and high carpets

The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser is not effective in cleaning hard floors. Even when the setting on the vacuum is for bare floors, it does nothing but move stuff around. I have both dogs and cats, and my home is always full of fur, litter, and food. It picks up hair and food fine. But for the litter…Only on the carpet does it pick up the litter; on other floors, it only spreads the litter around, thus, I still have to use the hand attachment 90% of the time. Perhaps it has anything to do with the type of litter that I use; I’m not sure.

Carpets

On carpets, the Pet Hair Eraser works absolute wonders. It is incredibly effective at collecting pet hair, dust, and debris. When I gave it a try, I couldn’t believe how much pet hair it vacuumed. After using the Pet Hair Eraser, my carpet appeared to be cleaner than before. I had no clue that there were so many strands of hair and so much dirt embedded in the carpet. That works fantastically for carpets, in my opinion.

The Bissell Cleanview Compact is an effective carpet cleaner for low- to medium-pile carpets. However, if you already have a fairly thick carpet, you probably shouldn’t choose this one. You could easily dislocate your shoulder if you attempted to push it. You may damage your vacuum’s motor irreparable if you insist on using it on shag carpet, as it may start smoking and burning after only a few uses.

‎Pet Hair

Perhaps the name already gives everything away. That’s right; the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser should be your choice if you want to buy a vacuum cleaner for cleaning pet hair or long hair.

To make a long story short, Bissell Pet Hair Eraser is perfect for a house with pets. This vacuum features a tangle-free brush roll and Patented Cyclonic Pet-Hair Spooling System, which makes it easy to empty the dirt cup. As a result, I no longer have to remove pet hair that has become wrapped around the roller because this problem no longer occurs.

I bought the Bissell CleanView Compact because of the ads and reviews that said it was good for pets. I can’t deny that the first few times I used it, it did a fantastic job of sucking the fur out of the floors. But, I read in some reviews that this vacuum cleaner feeds the dog hair directly thigho the belt, and I was wondering if that is indeed the case. Its design feeds the pet hair into the belt compartment. When I took it apart, I noticed that there were a lot of burnt pet hairs tangled up here. I have cleaned the belt several times, yet the pet hair keeps getting sucked here.

Dirt Tank and Filter

The Winner: Bissell Pet Hair Eraser

Dirt Tank

Both are bagless upright vacuum cleaners, the Bissell CleanView Compact and Bissell Pet Hair Eraser have a sturdy and durable design that allows easy and quick cleaning.

The dirt cup capacity between these two top-competing vacuum cleaners is 1L and 1.5L respectively. This means the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser has a larger dust capacity which means less frequent emptying out while vacuuming.

Cyclonic Spooling System

Cyclonic Spooling System on Bissell Pet Hair Eraser collects and separates human and pet hair from dirt, spooling the hair together for a hands-free empty.
Cyclonic Spooling System on Bissell Pet Hair Eraser collects and separates human and pet hair from dirt, spooling the hair together for a hands-free empty.

The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser comes with a Cyclonic Spooling System which ensures smooth and mess-free maintenance. The Bissell CleanView Compact features a removable dust container that feels sturdy and is easy to remove and empty.

With the Cyclonic Spooling System, you don’t have to reach inside the container to get rid of all the dirt, the Pet Hair Eraser takes care of that on its own. With the CleanView Compact, you may have to unstick and disentangle some of the debris, shedding seconds off your time plus the extra effort!

Filter

The Bissell CleanView Compact features a multi-level disk filter. Its filtration system is washable, which means that it can be returned to its like-new condition whenever it becomes dirtied. According to Bissell, the filter should be replaced anywhere from once every three to six months, depending on how frequently the machine is used.

Obviously, at this price tag, you should not expect a sealed system or a HEPA filter on the Bissell Cleanview Compact, and it does indeed leak like a sieve. Therefore, if you have respiratory conditions such as asthma or allergies, you should really think about spending the extra money on a machine with a sealed system.

With the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser, the filter system is slightly different and a high upgrade. There are two types of pre-motor filters—a mesh filter and a foam filter—both of which can be washed. In addition to that, there is a HEPA post-motor filter with a pleated design that cannot be washed. You also have the option to replace one of the pre-filters with a Febreze filter, which is also included in the package. I do like the Febreze filter, as it freshens the air every time I vacuum. Which is a huge plus!!

Design & Convenience

The Winner: Bissell Pet Hair Eraser

Noise Level

Another factor affecting cleaning performance is the noise level an upright vacuum cleaner produces. The Bissell CleanView Compact produces 84dB of noise on bare floors while on carpets, it’s 81 dB. The latter, on the flip side, produces 75.1 dB on bare floors and 78.4 dB noise on carpets. So by comparison, the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser is quieter and more comfortable to use.

Weight

Another important factor of consideration is that the Bissell CleanView Compact is a lightweight model, weighing less than 8 pounds which makes portability much simpler and smoother. The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser, on the other hand, features a heavier housing, weighing around 18 pounds.

Bissell CleanView Compact is lightweight and easy to push back and forth
Bissell CleanView Compact is lightweight and easy to push back and forth

Even though the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser is heavier than the CleanView Compact, it still glides very smoothly over most surfaces. It performs better on carpets than bare floors, which is what the Bissell CleanView Compact is fit for.

Cleaning Head

The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser features swivel steering with a new turbo eraser tool for cleaning pet hair more effectively on low-pile carpets. It makes steering into corners easier than before.

The cleaning path width of the Pet Hair Eraser is also wider than CleanView Compact measuring 12 inches and 10 inches. The former is more efficient and effective at picking up more debris, dirt, and impurities in a single pass.

Cord and Hose Length

Both are corded upright vacuums, with the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser having a longer cord length than the CleanView Compact – it’s 30 feet long while the latter is 23 feet long.

The hose length of the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser is longer than the Bissell CleanView Compact so that you can reach tight spots and corners without difficulty. The 7 feet hose length along with the extendable extension wand lets you clean under furniture, between cushions, and behind curtains more easily. The longer hose length means you don’t have to drag the vacuum cleaner to tight spots. The Bissell CleanView Compact features a 4.5 feet hose length. Because of the hose’s limited length, it will not be possible to make efficient use of the accessory pieces.

Utilities

The Winner: Bissell Pet Hair Eraser

The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser features a durable brush roll with an on/off feature, it even features a removable brush roll with a turbo setting for cleaning pet hair and other hard-to-clean debris.

The Bissell CleanView Compact has similar features to the Pet Hair Eraser but without the brush roll-on/off feature. But it does feature a turbo brush, removable brush roll, crevice tool, upholstery tool, soft bristle tool, and an extension wand, just like the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser.

The brush roll shut-off on the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser is good for cleaning bare floors because you can shut it off easily as soon as you switch from carpet to hardwood or marble floors. It prevents the dirt and debris from scattering in different directions, and it prevents any scratches on the surface.

Both upright vacuum cleaners have LED lights for better illumination on dark surfaces and around badly-lit corners. The LED light is on the crevice tool to remove tiny dirt particles in tight spaces.
